1. Doing the dishes along to Mika is not that good an idea, due to constantly stopping to dance around. (Bonnie, this is totally your fault. Possibly yours a little as well, Ko. I'm not supposed to like Mika.)

2. That run of co-stars in the Grey's double-parter? Oh good god. I had no idea. Although David Anders was so sadly underexploited, I surprisingly liked Merrin Dungey. Since when does that happen? And Piz and Taye and and and. I have no clue where I knew the other three doctors from seeing as IMDb and TV.com are failing me on this one. Woe!

3. Go check out David Walters' music. Impressive. Even more so in live.

4. Puresex and Bean are one of the slashiest things ever in Sharpe's Sword. Oh, god. In which Puresex is called Captain Jack Spears. Could it have been more phallic than that? I'm not sure. (Thank you thank you thank you Vae.)

5. I've plugged The Tudors to my Shakespeare teacher (who, as a Shakespeare scholar, didn't know who JRM was, but knew Jeremy Northam - she's seen him in Love's Labour's Lost I am so envious again). Yes, I'm shameless. But oh, my god, have you seen what they did last episode? It still makes me heee.

6. Semi-spoilerish dialogue for this week's SPN, in a oh GOD the slashiness way. )

7. Knowing that Robbie and Santiago Cabrera (Isaac in Heroes, Paolo in Love and other disasters) play football together puts wonderful slashy images in my head. Possibly because I can't help but slash Robbie with anything pretty that breathes within three feet of his. Apart from Dean Lennox Kelly, but that's just because Dean has got to be slashed with Jonathan Wilkes.

8. I want to see PotC3 already. I also want to stop hoping we get Sego elected. There is no link between those two statements other than the near-certainty to be direly disappointed. I'd rather PotC were crap and we got Sego, though.

9. I need to go clean the flat now. At least Mika will be good to hoover along to.
fan_elune: (spooks: simon woods)
1. Today I waited on Simon Woods. Well, not really, but he had the eyes and the mouth and ngh. I really kept wanting to make him smile. Again and again and again. I forgive him and his friend for only tipping me a few cents. Still no piano sex with JRM. Dude.

2. The bar is eating up my life.

3. Love and Other Disasters? Is wonderful and lovely, as far as romcoms go. I have such a squeeful crush on Matthew Rhys now. (Although I still like Jonathan Firth better as far as Byrons go.)

4. Starter for 10? Oh, my god, Simon. And heee Jamie! Fun, fun, fun.

5. Did I mention I'd read the second Lucifer Box novel and was now dying to fic fic fic? Unsurprisingly, I still haven't had time. In related news, upon hearing that the BBC was adapting the Vesuvius Club, [livejournal.com profile] queenspanky came up with the perfect casting: Rupert Penry-Jones for Lucifer, Callum Blue for Charlie. And JRM for Venus.

6. Sunshine? Is one of Danny Boyle's good movies. I loved it. So interesting and challenging and Chris Evans, of Fantastic Four 'fame' but who I'd never seen in anything, rocks, and Cillian is so pretty. Sometimes I forget how pretty that man is. Now I want to watch 28 Days Later again.

7. Hotel Babylon is fun. Max Beesley and Craig Kelly make me happy.

8. Lost bores me. The Tudors is wonderful but I still miss Rome liek whoa. The Dalek double parter we just had of Doctor Who failed to thrill me, despite David's amazing performance. I love Sam and Dean. I want to sex up Addison and Callie.

9. I'm sure I've forgotten stuff.
fan_elune: (Default)
1. Please Robert to come back to life and direct more movies. (Aka I've finally just seen A Prairie Home Companion ('The Last Show' in French - don't ask).)

2. Team Attia although I still love Brutus liek whoa. (Spoilers for Rome 2x01.) )

3. I can't figure out if I want to see Cashback or not. On the plus side, Sean Biggerstaff = cutie, and the trailer looks very intriguing. On the minus side, I have no clue if Sean can act, and the trailer is slightly off-putting.

4. I was not blown away by Marc Warren's Dracula. Joss knows I adore that actor, but I just wasn't. Sorry. I liked him much better as Teatime.

5. My Shakespeare exam is on Thursday. This is a perfectly legitimate reason to watch Shakespeare Retold: A Waste of Shame instead of start studying at last.

6. I now know the story behind the "Amour"s. And I half wish I didn't. If you still want the story, links are here.

7. Season premiere of The L-Word? Shane is still hot, what a surprise. Max is still hot, what a surprise. Jenny's still a bitch, and a pain, what a surprise. ...the actual surprise, for those of you who've seen it, was oh so very welcome. Hee! So beautiful. (Bonus points for featuring Peter Wingfield, too.)

8. Amando - my new MacBook - is running perfectly. He makes me happy. And he is so pretty!

9. [livejournal.com profile] queenspanky is coming to Paris in March. This is making me squee in delight! *squees*

Have a good one, everybody.

So Joey wants to mix peanut crackers with chocolate tart, and I'm the weird one for liking the kiwi/nutella mix. She is now trying to stuff me with peanut crackers, probably in the hopes that I'll choke and not post about this.

In other news, I wish I could be reading two things.

1) Lucifer Box fanfiction. If you've read the books, you know what pairing I'm thinking of. I'm going to harass [livejournal.com profile] queenspanky into writing some, but the more the better!

2) QaF UK/Torchwood crossover. Well, actually, Torchwood or Doctor Who, we're talking Whoverse here really because the point? The point is that Jack needs to meet the QaF boys. I would be forever in love with whoever decided to give this a try. Come on, people, you know you want to. Just pretend that Jack and Stuart being in the same room wouldn't make the universe implode with the sexual energy. I know it's hard to suspend that much disbelief, but... Come on! Pretty please with Jack and Ianto on top.

I've been so out of LJ I feel like I haven't memeed in absolute ages. Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] the_grynne:

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2006 (not including memes of course). Post the first line/sentence of it in your journal, and that's your "Year in Review."

January: Happy new year, everyone. You all deserve the best - or at least the very very bleedin' excellent.

February: A break from all the hotties to talk films and series for a minute.

March: I do not know why it is snowing that much.

April: So. First of all, quick update for those of you not French who might not really be in the know of what's going on in France these days.

May: So, I'm back. And I took notes, because I love you all and wanted to share the Alan and Ron goodness.

June: Tell me, are all football matches that GAY?

July: Happy birthday, houses7177! And happy Canada day, Canadians!

August: It shows how geeky I am that I keep expecting the hoover here to come to life and go "Exterminate, exterminate!"

September: 1. Snakes on a Plane? I genuinely enjoyed myself. I'm wondering if I should feel ashamed about that.

October: I've been able to read The Authority - Human on the inside thanks to [info]kirke_novak, which I am ever so thankful about, and I am in love with the art.

November: So I've been shite at keeping up with the flist for the past week and then some, and I don't think I'm going to catch up.

December: ajktgfhgaémjgfahgfadjhf

Thanks to everybody who helped with their lists of hotties! I've now got all my guys figured out and more or less ranked, I think. I'll start making posts some time soon with the guys.

For those of you who have seen the spoiler pic for Torchwood (THE spoiler pic OMGSQUEE), how awful is it not to be able to icon this on account of spoilers? I've been staring at it for way too long.

Torchwood 1x04 'Cyberwoman' )

In other news, no miracle. Kaylee's still dead. Although I think it might just be the screen, in which case I should at least be able to retrieve the stuff that's on her.

I'm not going to get depressed over it.

[livejournal.com profile] kowaio? Happy birthday again! Let me know what you guys think of the movie.

5) Rudebox. )

6) Lost. )

7) Grey's. )

8) Family weekend. )

9) The Pianist. )

10) Troy. )

So, pretty much? I love Jamie Cullum. I love my family. And I want to be watching Torchwood already!

1. OH MY GOD MY (USUALLY) BEAUTIFUL TWINS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR?!? Also this is slightly spoilerish for OotP the movie. (Think Harry Potter 5, people.) But, seriously. You guys used to be so attractive! Damn.

2. This is a public service announcement. [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren, you were right. Dr. Pepper is indeed better when it comes in a bottle. [livejournal.com profile] cerulean_blu, thank you so much for having provided this latest fix. I enjoyed it until the very last drop. *checks the bottle* Yeah, really, it's as empty as it can be.

3. So I caught sight of Donnie Wahlberg on a banner for Runaway - had to try it out. What is it with ruining people's attraction by way of their hair these days? Not only Donnie (who still rocks my world as an actor, mind), but also Sandrine "needs to have DB Woodside's babies she's so pretty" Holt. Also, so not hooked.

4. VM premiere: HOT DOG! I love Keith. They mentioned Spamalot! (It was Spamalot, [livejournal.com profile] emma_daisy. I blame Alan and my Monty Python love.) Oh, Logan, you still own me, and Piz needs to be bi because he and Logan, well, yeah. Also when did Wallace become sexy and I love Mac, and Dick, oh, you jerktastic jackass I love so hard. (Are they gonna go for Mac/Dick?)

5. Heroes premiere: can I please have more? Greg wasn't even in it and I loved it. Adrian! Adrian was great and I love his brother for the sole reason that, cute, but mostly, mostly I'm in love with Mohinder Suresh who absolutely needs to get down and dirty with someone. And Isaac. MmmmIsaac. I'm sorry I'm a sucker for... him. Not to be spoilerish. And Hiro is SuperGeek and yay! I also surprisingly like the cheerleader.

6. Studio 60 102: now that's what I'm talking about! I loved it so hard, and much more than the pilot, probably because I felt like Amanda Peet was less in it? Oh, Matt, oh, Danny, oh ALL OF YOU GUYS it was just so good and Sorkinesque and the best clock fic is already getting written about it and of course it would be because the clock is Sorkinesque and BRILLIANT. *clings to Aaron* Missed this. Sarah Paulson rocks my world a little more each time I see her.

7. Grey's: Derek and Meredith can you go and die? Possibly on another show? Kthx. Bailey owns me. So do Cristina and Burke and also oh god Izzie. I love that they're not glossing over it. Addison marry me will you?

8. Nip/Tuck: I LOVE that they're daring to go down that road. I wonder how far they'll go. It's Nip/Tuck, you can never be sure of anything.

9. I can't really think of a 9 right now, but I like that number.

EDIT: REAL NUMBER NINE! LJ's still being a bitch with my comment notifications. Sorry if it seems like I'm ignoring you.

EDIT: And we have a number TEN! Which is more than fitting. Who-related! Seen on [livejournal.com profile] kabukivice's journal. Do you all remember Jacky-boy Jake, the oh so gay resistance fighter whose accent I kept squeeing at who was totally hot for Mickey, or so we all said? Well, he really was supposed to be. This is what Russel had to say about it: "I hate all these shows which have rubbish gay relationships, and I took another look at the script and realised it was cheap, soapy nonsense. I won't have cheap gay references." I totally wish he'd left it in.

Tomorrow, Serenity Cubed!

Yeeeha!

Sean and Jewel and Morena and Mark and Gigi! And surprise guests! I should stop hoping!

Things to do before then:
1) decide what I'm wearing for the meet and greet. (Rawr.)
2) go get my hair cut. Either I'll look brilliant or horrible for tomorrow! Double up or nothing yay! I love that hairdresser. Scalp massage mmmmmmmm plus he always makes me look good.
3) stop hoping Alan will show up. Seriously.
4) keep hoping that Jonny will.
5) SLEEP.
6) pack. As much as can be done right now, anyway.
7) stop coughing.
8) figure out how to use Joey's camera.
9) track down MIB on YouTube and relearn the choregraphy. So what if I just learned the dance on my own in my flat. The things I wouldn't do for a con.
10) SLEEP.

I'm not taking my laptop with me. I'll be incommunicado until Monday when we get back. Sorry for you guys I'm in threads with, and [livejournal.com profile] emma_daisy, I don't care if sis is visiting next week we need to start a new thread when I get back. I will beg you on my knees if I have to.

Yeah, by the way, sis is visiting next week! Yay! Joey and I were watching Friends the other day and there was Monica and Ross's routine and I realised that ten years from now sis and I would still be doing the Knight dance and look ridiculous and have fun doing it. At least we won't be under the delusion that we're any good! And we totally dance better than them.

Aaaand I'm rambling. The point is: I'm off until Monday, and I'll miss you all, but there will be BDH, Gigi Edgley who I've crushed on ever since I first saw Chiana, and some of you, flist, which fills me with so. much. glee!

Miracle!

Really, all I had to do was balance out my karma. I just spent a godawful night because of a hell of a sore throat and what felt like a horrible fever when I'm sure I wasn't that hot, so this afternoon university picked up. And it's all good, I'll hear from them next week.

Now I can go back to being a sick zombie type person.

(In other good news, yesterday I gave a class to that pupil of mine in the 'Amour' neighbouhood, and [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren texted me to tell me she'd found another nest of Amour near République, which I will have to go check out one of these days.)
fan_elune: (rent quote)
It shows how geeky I am that I keep expecting the hoover here to come to life and go "Exterminate, exterminate!" It makes hoovering an interesting experience, when you feel odd turning your back on the bloody thing. To my defence, it's a huge thing of an ancient hoover that looks like it could be a Dalek threat.

Anyway. Hi! I'm not dead, and I'm still me, as the above paragraph proves.

I'm not going to post about Berlin, and why? Because there would be too much to say, entirely too much. Many museums were visited, many sites were seen, much fun was had, and also there was no time to keep up with the flist. At all. If you posted something you expected me to comment to? Terribly sorry, darlings.

That said, if you are curious about Berlin, I suggest you head over to Joey's LJ, and look at her picture posts. Not only will they tell you more about Berlin than I will in this journal, but also, she's an amazing photographer. I should also take the opportunity to pimp her portfolio site, all black and white and oh so beautiful through and through.

So today is clean-up day, and tomorrow we're waking up at 4 to be on the road by 5 and be home not too late to deal with the fact that we have a leak in the flat. A leak which obviously had to start while we were out of the country on holiday. Fun times ahead! As for the real fun times ahead: Wednesday, our birthdays; Thursday to Monday, actually celebrating our birthdays with everybody that said they'd come. Yay!

All in all, don't expect me to start rereading much of the flist until next week, when I'll be in Reims with the 'rents. That's when things will quiet down enough for me to be back full force. I hope you're all doing fantabulously! At the very least. Can't wait to be partying with some of you!

([livejournal.com profile] vandonovan, it's your birthday soon, innit? Just before or just after us, can't remember? Anyway: happy birthday!)
fan_elune: (potc norri)
Do bear in mind that I've read none of my dear flist's detailed reviews prior to seeing this movie. All I knew was that half of it raved that it was wonderful, and the other, well, wasn't quite so enthusiastic.

I can see both sides of the argument. (Aka spoilerific ramblings ahead.) )

And for a shorter few paragraphs on the same subject... )

In other, very quick news: Berlin's great! Despite the fact that they make a ten-minute break at the most inopportune moment in the middle of movies, because on the other hand? They show Dead Man's Chest a week before France, and they show it without subtitles! There has been museuming and zooing going on. It's pretty hot. Joey is going trigger-happy with her new reflex digital camera. And I'm getting to sleep on a more time-zone-appropriate sleeping schedule, which is odd. And that's about it, folks.

So you travel away to Germany and come back to an internet connection and what do you learn? Heath Ledger as the Joker? Seriously? I'm going to ignore the fact that it meants Paul and Jude still won't be acting together (...now I'm wondering if they're gonna cast Jake Gyllenhaal as Harvey Dent) because I'm still rooting for Brideshead Revisited and that's all I need as far as those two are concerned. But seriously, Heath Ledger? What? Paul or Adrien would've been so much better. It's not that I don't like Heath, I do. Sometimes despite myself. But come on Well. We'll see how he manages.

In semi-related news, the road trip has allowed me to listen to His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (thanks so much, [personal profile] the_grynne!), and I am in full support and then some of Paul and Nicole as Lord Asriel and Mrs. Coulter. That scene between them at the end of the book? Oh yes. Oooooh yes. Each of Asriel's scenes made me pause the book and replay it in my head with Paul instead. So much love.

In other news, we got to Berlin safely. We can't seem to manage to connect our laptops, which is a pain, but at least we have a connection. Cologne was pretty beautiful, and mostly the photo exhibition we saw at the Ludwig Museum was amazing and makes me itch to write a little something. It covered the history of photography, with some of the first types, daguerreotypes, etc. Very interesting, and somewhat unsettling, too. Also, the Cologne Cathedral looks much better from the outside than inside. And there were street performers! Between that, the Starbucks, the cream cheese, etc, it felt more like an English-speaking country than anything else. Except for the bit where I'm lucky if I manage to put three words together correctly. What do you mean I studied it for five years I should manage? Ooops?

Anyway. That was your German update of the day.
fan_elune: (franka potente)
First off? My Dearly Departed Alias Ficathon fanfic. Spoilers for the series finale.

Second off? Joey and I are off to Germany for three weeks or so. We'll have an internet connection over there, but we'll very likely be too busy to use it all that much, so there's a very, very, very fair chance I won't have time to read the flist or comment very much at all during that time. I'll still try to update every now and then, though, and do my best with keeping up with all of you.

Don't worry, I'll let you know exactly how little German I can remember from five years spent studying it. And how much I ridicule myself trying.

So. We'd planned to go see horses with [livejournal.com profile] overcraft, except the owner of the place where her horse Java is kept for the summer was not there, and we could only see the horses for afar. Still, Java is gorgeous and the slash has not got to me so much that I was OTPing two geldings look it's all Over's fault.

On the other hand, we were supposed to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] foley_durden and hopefully catch a glimpse of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis outside the on-invitation-only French premiere of PotC 2, and we ended up completely missing her but oh so much more than I expected fangirly-wise.

The story in pictures, obviously not dial-up-friendly. )

Now, you know what pisses me off? That the movie isn't actually released in France until August. Bleedin' August. How am I supposed to wait while the whole flist erupts into squees and fanfiction and I haven't written any Pirates fic in ages but I want to I can't wait I love these characters I. Can't. Wait. I'm debating whether it's worth downloading it to watch it on a computer screen, before going to watch it in the cinema, or if I really do want the first time to be on a big screen. Thoughts?

...squeeful day. I still can't really wrap my mind around the fact that yes, they stood within a few feet of me. Orlando Bloom in all his pretty sweetness and Johnny Depp in all his tattoed, beringed, purplely-bespectacled, cheekbones-to-be-damned-for glory. I'm every bit a fangirl today. A very, very, very happy fangirl.

So. Lively day today.

I get woken up by Joey brandishing an envelope under my nose. "Can you open it 'cause it's addressed to you but I think it's from England and it's the con tickets?" Indeed, people. We have our Serenity Cubed tickets! 137, 138, and 139 are us. Into the meet-and-greet. Feel free to celebrate! And burn a candle, say a little prayer, for either Nathan, Alan, Jonny or Chris to make it to that con. Otherwise I will be Very Put Out. (In semi-related news, Jewel updated her blog, and I want to be her best friend. Possibly Joey is planning to stalk her when she gets to Vancouver.)

Then started the long fight against the Evil Tap From Hell. Which was dripping, and needed to be changed, and tough plastic bits had to be sawed off with a kitchen knife. Let me tell you how much fun that was, not.

Then I hoped that we might lose at football, and lo and behold, [livejournal.com profile] rwrockdj! It worked, and we won. I'm fucking ecstatic. Note the sarcasm. I did not want to have to go through one more game. I'm so rooting for Italy, if only on principle. ...I think I was rooting for Brazil in '98. I should probably start rooting for France right now, but I just can't. It's beyond me. There were loud cheers and horns and cries and all the rest of it in the neighbourhood. It was echoing the telly all the time. Seriously. I, on the other hand, ended up yelling at the Portuguese that they could've tried a little harder, even though I hadn't watched the game.

So, the Evil Tap From Hell was finally replaced, and I put my hands down some seriously disgusting pipes (and I mean seriously disgusting) to connect it all back up, and I turned it on to wash my hands and, wait for it. The love of my life, sun of my days, moon of my nights, the sugar in my morning coffee and the curry in my chicken, the lime to go with my tequila, the tide to my sea and the polish to my nails, had actually hooked up cold with hot and hot with cold and it's all backwards. We've got a brilliant tap which is going to keep surprising people. And by surprising I mean burning them when they were expecting cold water and get scalding hot instead.

Possibly I'm making her change those around tomorrow.

Happy birthday, Joss! May I remind all of you that can afford it that Browncoats everywhere are all buying a copy of Serenity today, and that you should too. Even if you already own it. Share the love, spread the love, today's the day to buy that DVD. ...except I haven't bought DVDs or books for months and there's a reason for that and I'm starting to get very stressed about money issues so, yeah, I won't. I'm sorry. Does that make me a bad Browncoat? I'm trying to rationalise it by assuring myself that it's not like the French numbers of Serenity sales would ever reach enough to be noticed. It's sadly true.

In other news - Pride tomorrow yay! Here's to hoping the weather's nice. It rained on Wednesday for the Fête de la musique, but fun was had anyway, even though I still like that holiday better in cities of a more moderate size. We saw some capoeira, though, which took me a few years back.

What else? What else. I'm finally watching Mawdryn Undead thanks to [livejournal.com profile] vandonovan, I've got halfway through it and it's so. Much. Better than Terminus is (although I'm liking Planet of Fire better so far).

We've got Maltese crashing at home for Pride, and a Romanian maybe at some point, and of course [livejournal.com profile] pee_wai yay! I need to get some sleep tonight if I want to be alive and kicking for Pride - we're meeting up to change the lorry into a float at 10.

A few spoilery thoughts on Rescue Me 3x04. ... )

Finally, watching the second season of Deadwood feels like coming home. Those beautiful shots, the strength and vulnerability of these characters. And on a very shallow note Titus Welliver has never been this attractive. And I've been crushing on him for years. And Alma keeps taking my breath away. And and and. *loves*

So, one of my pupils is a seven-year-old whose mother is English. She mostly speaks English, ish, and her mother asked me to recommand books for her. Seven years old. The only series of books she has is the "Horrid Henry" series by Francesca Simon, and she adores them.

So. I need your help, because I have no. clue. what good books exist in English for seven-year-old kids. So if you're a teacher of have kids or want to rec the books you read when you were that age? That would help IMMENSELY.

I should do a fandom-y post soon. So much to squee over. Who, and Rescue Me, and Grey's Anatomy, and C.R.A.Z.Y., and I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff.

Anyway. Please help.

This is not spamming the flist, it's following up on what I was telling you about. Yes. (I swear this is my last post of the day.)

Right, so. Off I go to teach Little Fucker. I get there, and the door opens on, hellooo you hot man-person you, I've never seen you before. Little Fucker's big brother, who I think usually is in the States, and was home for a few days?

Now, guess who wasn't home, though. That's right, Little Fucker is who.

So Charlie (it only makes sense for him to be Charlie, if Little Fucker's one of the twins) calls Little Fucker on his cell and tells him to get his ass here ASAP. There was snapping and yelling and no-nonsensing involved. Little Fucker got there ten minutes later.

Charlie's my new hero.

And now I kind of want to go back to that Charlie Weasley/Gwen Raiden fic I started a while ago.

What I need to do: update my to-do list. It used to be all organised, fic-wise, and then got completely obsolete and abandoned when I suddenly decided to launch myself into NaNo. Yes, that would be back in November. I really, really need to get to it.
