Life is never easy for the deer in the meadow.

I'm expecting HPB in the mail tomorrow, so that's when I'll go back to Paris. In the meantime, I've watched more "Rescue me" and "24" Day 3.

Rescue Me - I'm sort of hazy on where I stand about 2x03. The whole Sully thing. I mean, it's in character and everything, but the LGBT semi-activist in me is mildly offended about it. But other than that? Great episode. Just like the last one. Reading [livejournal.com profile] khohen1's RM fics before I'd watched it had spoiled me about a few things - Sully and Sheila, really - but it was still quite horrible to watch (I mean Sheila here). I'm also a big fan of the Franco/Sean interaction (and I should reread Kho's fics). I didn't think I would, but I also like Laura. Quite a lot. 'Sides, casual sex without any complications? I like it. That said, the whole "Franco getting hooked on - is it Vicodin?" is kinda expected. Hmm.

But really, greatest thing is Tommy. Tommy is just such an interesting character, in all his fucked up glory. I adore Tommy.

24 - Chase might have all my lust, but Tony still has all my heart.

But I'll get back to that. First off - well the thing is, the disc with the first 12 episodes did not work, so my brother and I decided to hell with it. We'd waited long enough, so we'd just watch from episode 13 on. Which means less of the delightful Greg Ellis (aka Lieutenant Groves from Pirates, who gave me a very "Marcus Hamilton" vibe there), and a few things we were initially very confused about.

Now, what can I say? I can't decide whether I liked it more or less than Day 2. The whole political stuff didn't interest me as much as Day 2, despite DB Woodside's presence (pretty.......), all that stuff with Sherry. But seeing Gina Torres was decidedly lovely. For once she was no amazon, but damn beautiful all the same. But Wayne Palmer wasn't a wonderful character, imho, again despite the wonderful DB, which is saying a lot. He just seemed so inconsistent. First he tells David not to cave in and do that "the sky is falling" thing, then he tells him to go ahead and have Chappelle killed? Seriously, why the change of heart? And he was too unfeeling for me. I value characters who can put reason over emotion, but it just made him seem too damn cold without having anything to justify it, without his being that good. Especially at the end, his last scene with David.

But what really broke my heart? Tony and Michelle. They did it so well. Because at first I thought that if she wasn't infected? It was too easy. But as episodes went by I found myself hoping she wasn't, and when she ended up not being I was actually happy about it. Carlos Bernard broke my heart when his voice just broke on the phone, admitting how afraid he'd been to lose her.

The whole Chappelle thing - is it a trademark now, they take a supposedly-despised authority figure, make him likable, then kill him off? George was better, but Ryan wasn't half bad. I especially liked when he said he had no friends, no one to call, because wow, pathos much? But in a humble way, which isn't really pathos anymore is it? Anyway. Jack will do what needs to be done.

To come back to Tony - I'm really not sure what I think of the fact that he did put Michelle before the country's safety and all. Tony had always, and I mean always, done the right thing. No matter what. But this time, he followed his heart... which makes him beautifully flawed, but also a bit less like the Tony I knew and loved. But in the end I can't resent it, because it's just about evolution and how much love can change you (for better or for worse). Besides, it was really well-written because he just got sucked into it. At first he just didn't wanna see them poke one of her eyes out, and after he did that one thing it was a whirlwind and he couldn't just stop, he had to keep going. Until Jack offered him a way out.

And I love the antagonism between those two. Guys, you rock.

Chase... and Kim. Oh, how I still loathe Kim. The only time I didn't was when she stood up to her father about going on that mission. Seriously, Jack. *eyeroll* The whole deal with the baby, though? Bored, bored, bored. Well, not when Chase finally came in because, you know, Chase was there. But before that? Boooored. Kim + Chloe= super!bored!Fan'. (By the by, is it just me or is it very likely that Adam is gay? I love him to bits, in any case. Poor kid - about his sister.) But Chase? Despite his horrendous taste in women, I love him.

I loved him with Nina, and he's so good on the field. (Was so good on the field. *sobs*) And while we're mentioning Nina? First off, wow, beautiful. Second off, argh, still as good of a bad guy. Third off, to quote Jack, "son of a bitch." Jack actually made a mistake. Doesn't happen too often. Loved his crying at the end of the day, by the way.

Oh, and about Michelle, I love her. She's so very resourceful. I loved that she could get out but Jack told her to let herself get caught. And she's beautiful too, though I'm not attracted to her.

The bad guy? I wasn't head over heels with him. But I truly enjoyed the parallelism they kept making with Jack, the fact we never learned what exactly had happened to him, the way innocents should be "casualties of war" but his daughter couldn't. Oh, while I'm thinking of the guys in the hotel (and did the Desperate Housewives recruit all their hubbies from 24?), I love Doug Savant, who plays the hotel's chief of security. He was a wonderful character, and heartbreaking at the end.

Now, to go back to my original statement... Chase might have all my lust, but Tony still has all of my heart. When the axe moment came, sure I was tense as hell and everything (and mildly amused at the irony, after Kim's previous boyfriend's fate), but that was it. When Tony said goodbye to Michelle? The way he suddenly moved in for the kiss, and what he told her - Carlos is such a great actor. Point is, that's when I cried. Even though my impassive brother was right next to me, I couldn't not shed a few tears. And once I'd started with Tony, I had a lump in my throat through the whole rest of it.

Now, I must do caps. Lots of caps. And then do many many icons.

The Emmys - I'm sure not many people mentioned it, but I couldn't help chuckle in approval when I noticed: for the "Oustanding music and lyrics," I'm completely all for Dewey's Opera - Song: The Marriage Bed. If you've seen that episode of Malcolm in the Middle... I love Dewey. So. Much.

Lead actor in a comedy? As much as I love Eric McCormack, I'm all for Zach Braff. Lead actor in a drama? Kiefer. But that's no surprise, I adore Kiefer and he blew my socks off just last night. Lead actor in a miniseries or movie? I haven't seen any of those, but I love each actor for other parts. Gah.

Lead actress in a comedy? Probably Teri Hatcher, even though I personally like Felicity Huffman much more. Because Felicity, well, of course she's good at comedy. Anyone who's sene her in Sports Night knew she'd be awesome in DH. Teri was more of a surprise, I think, because her character is so at odds with that of Lois Lane. Marcia Cross I wouldn't say for here, because her character gives me the creeps, even when she makes me laugh. Lead actress in a drama? Frances Conroy has all my love, and SFU doesn't get enough awards.

Supporting actor in a drama? Oh my, Terry O'Quinn or Naveen Andrews? Yes, I know, everybody's pissed that Foxy and Josh didn't get any nominations. I personally truly think Foxy deserved one for lead actor in a drama... But anyway, Naveen deserves one too. Not as a lead actor, but as a supporting actor. Naveen is so very good in this show. So is Terry actually... I really don't know who I'd choose here. And others should have had a nom - I'm not thinking of Dom, nope. *angelic smile* *wink*

Oustanding comedy series, how could I choose between Scrubs or Desperate Housewives? I think I'd say go for DH, except it seems so expected and I kinda wish Scrubs would get it. *sends love to Scrubs*

Oustanding drama, I wouldn't go for Lost. I adore Lost, but it's not the best drama out there. Now, not having seen the latest seasons of 24, SFU or TWW, I can't really say which would get my vote, but... Lost has potential, lots of it, but it's not the best drama out there. *pauses* Where are the nominations for Nip/Tuck, for Joss's sake?

Is The Office Special that's up for Oustanding Made for TV Movie the British one? Because if so, yay!!!

Outstanding writing for a comedy - Desperate Housewives, 'course. For a drama, I'd say either Rescue Me or Lost, but Walkabout not the pilot. The Lost pilot was just not that good at all. Walkabout rocked (go David, go!!). But really, Rescue Me. Walkabout can only be a runner-up. Rescue me all the way.

What with watching all of that, I haven't even had time to write anything. Can't we have longer days? Like, 28 hours, I'm sure four extra hours would be enough.
