Of Companions

The very annoying thing with watching old Who stuff on your own, is that you have no knowledgeable Who fan to ask about every single thing that goes through your mind.

I've watched the Eighth Doctor movie (even though "Paul McGann doesn't count," yes, he still does, ish, at least as an incarnation, doesn't he), and nowI'm getting started on Genesis of the Daleks and while okay, yes, Sarah Jane (Ten-voice: she's young!), who is Harry? ...or Henry? What did he call him?

And also oh dear god the Timelords have no fashion sense whatsoever, do they. The Doctor's whacky, and I particularly love Nine and Ten, but should it be the Master or that Timelord at the beginning of GotD? Guh. I can see why Russel wanted them out.

And I know I haven't updated in a few days but I'm fine, everything's great, Joey's off to Rennes for the weekend and I'm left here watching Four on my own nursing some pina colada. Which is actually not as depressing as it sounds, I swear.

I do vaguely remember a "tripping over the scarf" gag at one point, but gods only know what story that's in. Yes, it's impractical, but hey. Mrs Nostradamus knitted it. Or so he says. (It's Four, he's all about the lies - sorry, "bluster". No, it's just lies.)

As for yellow coats, high heels while running, etc - she's a companion, it's the seventies, and that's sort of how it is, sad to say. They always dressed the female companions in the most impractical gear! Remember Tegan in her miniskirt and high heels trying to run away from Daleks? (Sigh....) I like how Sarah has now learned and by School Reunion is in leather jacket, jeans and trainers.

You should see her costume in The Five Doctors though. *Eugh!*

Heee! A Doctor that lies. I like that. I've seen 5 out of the 6 "Genesis of the Daleks" episodes now, and I'm left wondering why he didn't lie to Davros about the Dalek's mistakes. Unless he did? Anyway. I like Sarah Jane, and I adore Henry. I want to fangirl his every move and every line.

Oh, god, yes, I need to watch School Reunion again heee! Ahem.

...heh. I think I'm going to have to download The Five Doctors just for that. Plus, good to see five of them in one fell swoop.

What's the name of the story where Turlough leaves? I want to see that, too.

Lying Doctor = rocks. (I love Four. He rules the world.) And I haven't actually managed to watch Genesis yet... so I'll get back to you on that.

School Reunion is brill. *squees over the Emo Timelord and the Emo Ex-Companion and, frankly, the tin dog*

The Five Doctors! Oooh, so much fun to be had. The title's a slight cheat (Four is in it for seconds, and One was recast due to the original actor having died about eight years before; so it's really Three And A Half Doctors) but it's still truly fantastic. Plus, Turlough. Turlough not having much to do, but still, Turlough.

The story where Turlough leaves is called Planet of Fire. It's great. Ooh, and features the Master! (And new companion Peri. Who is ballsy as hell in Planet of Fire, but has a truly awful American accent.)

(Pssst: Harry, not Henry; but yes, Harry rocks too!)

Genesis is very worth seeing. *nodsnods* And thanks! I'm now getting my hands on Planet of Fire. Yay more Turlough!

Ah, Harry, Henry, same difference. I think I'll never be able to remember his name. ;) Anyway - any good Harry stories to rec?

Heee! Three And A Half Doctors. And Turlough. I must definitely see it.
