Miracle!

Really, all I had to do was balance out my karma. I just spent a godawful night because of a hell of a sore throat and what felt like a horrible fever when I'm sure I wasn't that hot, so this afternoon university picked up. And it's all good, I'll hear from them next week.

Now I can go back to being a sick zombie type person.

(In other good news, yesterday I gave a class to that pupil of mine in the 'Amour' neighbouhood, and [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren texted me to tell me she'd found another nest of Amour near République, which I will have to go check out one of these days.)

All that typing with my fingers crossed for the university to call was actually useful, then. :)

It was! Feel free to uncross them now. How about my crossed fingers for you, they helping any?

Yeah, actually a lot better today, thanks! I need to keep up with the hydrating and eating right, but I don't have twitching inside my eye, which is a real plus.

Oh, yay! Now that is great news. :))) I'd bounce around and stuff, but I don't have the energy for when I'm in sick zombie type mode. ;)

I love your Amour pictures... definitely post more! :D

Also, erm... is that Rufus Sewell in the top middle picture of your LJ layout? I keep on confusing him with Ben Miles, which is completely fine with me, since I've watched a disgusting amount of Coupling this week and I finally saw the retold Taming of the Shrew.

Ha! I am totally getting out of control with my lust for obscure British actors!

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Heee! Thank you.

That totally is Rufus. I am helpless against Rufus. His looks, his voice... gah. I recced that movie to Lau, A Man of No Importance, which you both need to see. Rufus doesn't have that big a part in it but he's young and uber-cute and, more importantly, it's a good movie.

Not that I don't love Ben Miles, but... he doesn't get to me the same way Rufus always does. And there's no lust for him. ;)

Can I just say how much of a squeeing fangirl I was while watching Taming of the Shrew?? Uhh especially the part where he shows up for the wedding in women's clothing. I was prepared to really hate Shirley Henderson's portrayal of Kate, but was won over (like I usually am with her), and I totally loved her speech at the end of the film.

A Man of No Importance... let me go add that to my queue of things I need to rent ASAP. Does Rufus have a bigger role in any other movies that I should be aware of?

I'm really completely utterly in love with Ben Miles. I'm crushed that he hasn't really been in anything else... damn you Britain and your hot obscure actors who never get famous!

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, god, I'm in love with his Petrucchio. Completely and utterly. He pulled him off so brilliantly! But I have to say that Kate didn't win me over. There are scenes in which I love her, but she would never make it as a politician I mean come on let's be realistic here for a second. But yes, I liked her speech. And I love the actress who plays her sister from Hustle, which you should definitely give a try to if you've never seen it (it's where my Marc 'Elton-from-Who' Warren crush originally comes from).

...there's always Dark City? But other than that, he seems to pretty much always be cast as the possessive villain. What is wrong with you filmmaker types! He was also amazing in his section of Paris je t'aime with Emily Mortimer.

You see him pop up once in a while. We saw V right after our Coupling moment, and god, yeah, that was weird. Heh.

[identity profile] buzzylittleb.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If that's the Dark City I'm thinking of, then it was a mindbogglingly cool movie.

(I think I feel the same way about obscure Canadian actors)

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! It likely was. Jennifer Connelly, Rufus Sewell, Kiefer Sutherland...? It wasn't the best of sci-fi movies, imho, but it was definitely cool.

I'm right there with Katie here, I'm all about the obscure Brits. But that's because I've never seen much Canadian TV or movies. Any recs? I'm up for anything. Ready to be converted!

[identity profile] wields-a-pen.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
If you want something Canadian and are interested in seeing what is pretty much the most slashy show ever to be aired on television, take a look at Due South, staring Paul Gross (who I've met; he's awesome!). Callum Keith Rennie is in some of the later episodes, and I usually like following his work (you've probably actually seen him in a lot of random stuff).

My only other Canadian love is the Anne of Green Gables mini-series, but that's way more of a sentimental favorite since I can't remember a point in my life where I didn't know what that movie was.

I'll take the Canadians over the Americans any day, but overall, I love my Brits (and Irish)!

I think I reached about 20 a few minutes after.
And for once, I didn't have my camera. :-/

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You never have your camera when you really wish you did. A while ago there were some great stencils done on the ground at the Place Carrée metro exit, but alas, no camera either. Anyway, I'll totally have to go some time. Where are they exactly?

[identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com 2006-09-23 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's even worse than that. It's not just that you don't have you camera when you wish you did, there's also the fact that sometimes you carry it for AGES without ever having a need for it. And then one day you remove it from your bag. And then the next day you so wish you had thought about putting the camera back into your bag.... ;-)

Here's the map of where I was when I found the Amour nest:

You may notice there's an area redder than the rest. *wink*
