All is fair in love and war.

The Knight's Tale - by Geoffrey Chaucer - adapted by the Beeb - starring John Simm, Keeley Hawes, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Bill Patterson.

I'm starting watching it right now. Can you imagine how squeeful the anticipation is getting me? There is not one of those names up there that isn't gettin me fangirly.

In related news, I posted an old Wat/Geoff co-written with [livejournal.com profile] shadesofbrixton to the [livejournal.com profile] fic_orphanage last night. Go read, and give us feedback!

Heeeee! Chewie and John on screen together! Hugging and just being brilliant actors and I love them! I love them so much! Yes the fangirlitis is back and I can't stop using exclamation marks!

I'm gonna shut up and watch it now. Man I'm seeing slash already. I'm doomed.

Can Life on Mars be on again? I missed John Simm. And his accent. And him. And Chewie. And I said I was shutting up, right? Right.

EDIT: heeeeee! Chewie wants to beat off thinking of Buffy! I kid you not! (His first thought was Angelina Jolie.)

I saw "A Knight's Tale" a couple of years back before I knew either of the leading men from anything else, and was so impressed by them both. Now it's like they've just exploded in the meantime. It's like rewatching Band of Brothers, and instead of seeing these keen young soldiers, you're spotting James McAvoy and Jamie Bamber and Michael Fassbender and Rick Warden and Simon Pegg. So fucking cool.

Okay, I've obviously got Bettany on the brain.

I meant "The Knight's Tale".

Heee! I have rewatched Band of Brothers for that very reason. Right now my brain is being blown away by how fucking excellent Chiwetel is. I mean, I always knew he was a good actor, but this is just OH WOW, you know?

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-23 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Also there's nothing wrong with having Bettany on the brain. :p

"All I care about is... obvious." Oh, god, John Simm is so good as well.

They're both so brilliant and brilliantly atypical romancing types but they just carry it off so sweetly.

If you get the chance to see a mini-series called Sex Traffic with John Simm in it, DO. It's confronting and dark, but so well made and acted, and really well thought out.

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-23 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the first thing I ever saw him in! It aired while I was in the UK. Only later did I see State of Play and then, of course, Life on Mars. (Oh, State of Play was my Jamie revelation! I didn't remember him from Wimbledon, but in State of Play? Oh how I loved him.)

[identity profile] the-grynne.livejournal.com 2006-09-23 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, you have just become my hero! I haven't come across a single person who's seen Sex Traffic other than you. I loved Simm's character in that - actualy quite a similar character to the one he played in State of Play actually - the flawed but compassionate, principled hero.

Look, screencaps!

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-23 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I am so hero material on account of my have-sene-brilliant-obscure-british-fictions superpower. The friend that lent me State of Play is crazy about John Simm, and had been ranting about him in SoP, and when I finally saw that my reaction was "that's the guy from Sex Traffic!" That's when she looked at me blankly. The two parts are pretty similar, yeah.

Hee screencaps! I'd forgotten about the glasses.

I've seen that! I totally loved it! I saw it a few months ago, and was all excited because it was Chaucer. I started watching it, and was like OMGTHEOPPERATIVE!!
:D

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-23 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh! Exactly. Thinking of that as Geoff's, more than Chaucer's, is plain weird but the good kind. I'm sure he'd have liked it. Anyway! I love Chiwetel Ejiofor, he's such an amazing actor.

OH-EM-GEE, can I ask you a huge favor?? I literally spent half of my day at work last Friday trying to hunt down The Knight's Tale and Sex Traffic at one of the many TV show/movie LJ comm's I belong to, I couldn't find them anywhere! Is there any chance that I can beg for you to upload these delicious programs, or that you can direct me to where I can download them??

And thank you, once again, for being the one and only person on my entire flist who is as obsessed with the obscure British actors as I am! :D

Random: Have you seen Under the Greenwood Tree? Keeley Hawes, James Murray (who I just utterly fell in love with) and Ben Miles. DEFINITELY worth tracking down... it's SO so cute!

Seeeeeeriously, I need the second series of Life on Mars and I need it NOW! And when does the new Robin Hood start??

*hugs BBC and never lets go*

Oohh I just found The Knight's Tale on [livejournal.com profile] uk_telly (posted the day after I spent all day looking for it, nonetheless!) But I'm still dying to see Sex Traffic (I would see anything with John Simm in it, anything at all!)

Ugh, I can't find the series Cutting It anywhere either! Why is the internet depriving me of TV shows staring Sarah Parish and James Murray together?

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-09-28 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry darling, uk_telly is precisely where I'd found it! Sex Traffic I saw while I was in England, and Cutting It I'd never heard of. Wish I could help.

*blinks*

They're making a new Robin Hood?
