"And just for a second there I felt so alive."

Was I the only one to think OMGBUSHWACKED at the beginning of the episode? That was so Firefly come back to us. ...with Ianto in the role of River? Or something.

Anyway. Fairly good episode, I found. I like seeing that ruthless side of Jack. Safety first, and his people first. This sort of moral ambiguity is how I like my (big damn) heroes best.

SEE HOW I'M STILL NOT DOING NANO. I have willpower. Because each episode just makes me want to a little bit more.

I know I should get annoyed by the kiss of life thing. Because it's a bit of an easy way out, or at least it's in danger of becoming that. But I don't know, I'm still not. Not simply because that was Ianto Jack was kissing either. Although, yay! Even though this episode dismissed the asexual!Ianto theory, yay for the Ianto-centric, and yay for raising some very valid points (how outside the team Ianto is, how Jack for all his friendliness never cared enough to ask about his life, the dirty work they keep asking of him, the impact of the Cybermen war on the surviving members of TW, etc). And I now want to read Jack/Ianto, if anybody has any good recs.

I'm also surprised at myself for enjoying the Gwen/Owen kiss and consecutive dialogue. It felt true. And I still adore her boyfriend, just because he's so very random average guy.

Also, yay for the mention of Suzie (they do remember her), yay for the mutilated doctor and Gwen feeling that Owen was hard neither of which would have flown on Who, and yay for them not firing Ianto or killing him off.

I only wanted to slap Gwen a couple times in the whole episode, which bodes well.

All in all, yeah, I liked this episode. However, I'm starting to wonder if I'm not going to keep waiting for the show to hit a really awesome note until the end of the season. Oh well. At least I'll wait with Jack, who is very good company.

In other news, no miracle. Kaylee's still dead. Although I think it might just be the screen, in which case I should at least be able to retrieve the stuff that's on her.

I'm not going to get depressed over it.

[livejournal.com profile] kowaio? Happy birthday again! Let me know what you guys think of the movie.

Since when is she dead?

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Sunday. On the train. In the middle of Robin Hood - how dare she. And she's not really dead, actually, I don't think so anyway. More like in a coma. Screen issues.

[identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a pity you have to replace the whole thing just because of the screen (do you? I suppose the "garantie" might not work anymore for her, or is she not as old as I thought?). That's the big problem with laptop, no way to easily replace the screen or keyboard... :-(
Good luck for the data retrieval.

The thing is, the way to fix her might be super simple, they might just need to put a dot of glue some place or something. But yeah, she's definitely as old as you think, and with no guarantee coverage, I don't wanna send her away for them to do stuff to her and then what if I need to pay so much for the repairs. Especially as I was planning on getting a new one anyway because she'd been having more and more trouble. Ugh.
Thanks.

[identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
A dot of glue? Hum... Yanno, she really didn't need to express her support toward my poor camera's screen this way, really. Bad girl.
Can't they tell in advance how much the repairs would cost?
Well, if you were to get soon a new one anyway, it's not as bad as it could have been, but still.... I have troubles picturing you without a laptop on your lap... ^_^

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The only time she had trouble - which was actually fixed by a dot of glue, seriously - they couldn't, no. 'Cause they send her away, that's how it works for Macs. Which yeah, I know, sucks. Hush.

Heh. Worse yet - picture me surviving on a PC laptop in the meantime.

[identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, ok. It doesn't help. :-(

Hmm... No, that's not worse. It's still a laptop. I personnally don't care whether people have a Mac or something else. The important visual element is the laptop. I you have a laptop on any kind on your lap, the thought it less terrifying... ;-p You can still write NaNo fics on it.

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I AM NOT WRITING NANO.

Not that it's a sore spot with myself or anything. :p

That said, I'm not sure I could, actually. Write anything on Simon. The very thought makes me cringe. I don't know. My muses are Mac-friendly, clearly.

[identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
But... but... Who talked about NaNo???? I didn't, I just mentionned it fics! I swear!

Well, you just have to *imagine* you're using a Mac. Use the power of your mind to trick your muses!!!

[identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And then I'll try and use shortcuts and stuff that don't work on a PC and the illusion will be broken. No, it just doesn't work. I should be happy enough my RP¨muses don't care if it's a PC or a Mac.

It's not like my fic muses have been around much anyway. Apart from Jack, obviously, who's still pushing for a Nano. Shut up shut up shut up. ;) You doing it this year? Or did you outright give up on the idea after last year?

[identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com 2006-11-07 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's just because your imagination isn't strong enough, that's it. Otherwise you could use the laptop switched off and eyes closed and PRETENDS everything is working fine and... ok, you would have to write down everything again on a notepad, and it's not that easy when your eyes are closed, but...

Well, last year I give up right from the start because of the long annoying boring pissing off speech from the guy I was dating. This year nobody bored the hell out of me, so I can totally do the Nano. Except I keep having ideas for short stories, not novels... Or actually, for short stories in a BD style mostly, because it's all so graphical.... So I still don't know. I'm bound to always have a week less each year anyway, because of the Utopiales.
