Was I the only one to think OMGBUSHWACKED at the beginning of the episode? That was so Firefly come back to us. ...with Ianto in the role of River? Or something.

Anyway. Fairly good episode, I found. I like seeing that ruthless side of Jack. Safety first, and his people first. This sort of moral ambiguity is how I like my (big damn) heroes best.

SEE HOW I'M STILL NOT DOING NANO. I have willpower. Because each episode just makes me want to a little bit more.

I know I should get annoyed by the kiss of life thing. Because it's a bit of an easy way out, or at least it's in danger of becoming that. But I don't know, I'm still not. Not simply because that was Ianto Jack was kissing either. Although, yay! Even though this episode dismissed the asexual!Ianto theory, yay for the Ianto-centric, and yay for raising some very valid points (how outside the team Ianto is, how Jack for all his friendliness never cared enough to ask about his life, the dirty work they keep asking of him, the impact of the Cybermen war on the surviving members of TW, etc). And I now want to read Jack/Ianto, if anybody has any good recs.

I'm also surprised at myself for enjoying the Gwen/Owen kiss and consecutive dialogue. It felt true. And I still adore her boyfriend, just because he's so very random average guy.

Also, yay for the mention of Suzie (they do remember her), yay for the mutilated doctor and Gwen feeling that Owen was hard neither of which would have flown on Who, and yay for them not firing Ianto or killing him off.

I only wanted to slap Gwen a couple times in the whole episode, which bodes well.

All in all, yeah, I liked this episode. However, I'm starting to wonder if I'm not going to keep waiting for the show to hit a really awesome note until the end of the season. Oh well. At least I'll wait with Jack, who is very good company.

In other news, no miracle. Kaylee's still dead. Although I think it might just be the screen, in which case I should at least be able to retrieve the stuff that's on her.

I'm not going to get depressed over it.

[livejournal.com profile] kowaio? Happy birthday again! Let me know what you guys think of the movie.

I totally thought of Bushwacked too, to the point where I don't think it was a coincidence, but almost a tribute or nod to Firefly. It was just too much--the "crew" having random basketball game, and an outside member watching, all foggy-headed and distant? I dunno.

I also spotted the Firefly links/homage in this episode, and put forward my theory that Ianto is really Simon, and Jack is really Mal in my journal!
I feel like Torchwood hasn't really hit it's stride yet, but having Jack around certainly helps - he's so pretty!

Elle a beau être un mac, j'envoie plein de bonnes ondes à Kaylee, because it sucks.

I hope you'll be able to retrieve your hard drive datas, all the best with Kay, mate.

Torchwood wise, I was totally oblivious to the Firefly nod *bad brain no cookies*.
I loved the angst in this episode but I have to agree with Grimma on this one, it came a bit out of left field, I mean it would have been better if we had seen an hint or two in the previous episodes. Some sort of build up.
It wasn't bad by any standards but it didn't exactly convinced me either. We'll see where they go from here, I really hope they don't reset the characters as in "everybody is happy and best pals again".
All in all, I'm still waiting for the show to hit its stride.

Oh yeah and I really hope they won't forget to address Owen "kinda date rape" and "kinda sadistic" tendencies by hooking him with Gwen ! I did enjoy the scene and the dialog but I do want to see the above issues addressed.
