This is positively unhealthy. I'm growing obsessed with Vicious. *points at the new icon* Loving characters like Edward (from AB) or Lucius (from HP) is all good and well, but Vicious? This is me reaching another level of insanity.

It's all the more frustrating that this incredibly good fic is being written about his origins, as well as Spike's... and I want more. Desperately so. The psychology of it is simply amazing, the style flows very well, the usual clichés are avoided... I'm impressed. Here's for any and all Cowboy Bebop fan out there: Prelude. If you browse through that site, I also recommend After the Nova, though also a WIP, which is a take on what happens after the finale. But really, my love goes to Prelude, which is as good a piece of work as you can find. While the author's take on Spike is probably not the most original ever, it is still endearing and subtle, and their work on Vicious reels you in and does not let you go.

That being said, it leaves me very little room to vent my Vicious obsession, aka write more fiction about him. The tear of a warrior was hardly about him, since the Vicious we saw in that was through the eyes of a besotted Gren. I need to write him out of my system. Hopefully, I'll have an epiphany, but right now my muses are made shy when faced with the genius behind Prelude. I should let it all cool down and see what comes to me in a few days' time.

I'm the author of Prelude. I followed your link from the Wild Horses Guestbook. I'm thrilled you like my story so much! I do plan to write about Gren, so I'm avoiding all other fanfic about him and/or Vicious (because I have a bad habit of accidentally stealing ideas). But - I hope you don't mind - I'm going to list you as a friend, and then, when Prelude is done, I'm coming back to read your fiction!

Oh, I'm so friending you back! I did enjoy your story immensely and have been recommending it to, well, the one other Cowboy Bebop fan I know. ;) I do hope you will write about Gren - I don't know what exactly drew me so to his character, but I was instantly fascinated with him. I trust you to write something excellent.

As for making your week - your week deserved to be made. I'm only happy to oblige.

I adore Gren. And the way I'm writing this, he's there with Vicious at a pivotal point. I just hope that you like my treatment of his character.

Did you know I have a shrine to Vicious? I glanced at your Tear of a Warrior, but had to quit immediately, or I would have stolen your ideas, even without meaning to! However, I read enough to know you write well. Would you consider linking them to my shrine? Just a thought, no offense if you'd rather not. (I'm easy.)

The thing with Gren is, what we see on the show is enough to fascinate us... but then, little enough for us to treat him in many a different way. I can't wait to see yours.

And yes, I discovered your shrine to Vicious yesterday night - I would be honoured to have the fic up there, once I'm done with a few last changes on it. Though it's only fair to warn you, the fic is not about Vicious. He plays a very important part in it, obviously, but it's not about him at all. That being said, I don't know enough about either the CB fandom or even you to know whether you would actually like the angle I took... but if you wanna take chances, please be my guest. ;)

There's so little well-written fanfic out there, never mind any with Vicious involved! So yes, I'll be happy to take my chances. If you want to have a paragraph explaining it, that would be fine, too. Let me know when it's ready, and we'll work out the details. :) :)
