I feel very lonely in my appreciation of British films. There were about ten of us going to see My Summer of Love, and I was the only one who truly liked it. Yes, even the end. And my liking of British films does not originate from this last year in England, I think I've always liked them. Somehow, I blame my father. I blame my father for my love for fantasy, sci-fi, and British fiction-telling. And, actually, for my love for fiction altogether.
Dad, I know you're not reading this, but thanks.
So yes, I rather liked My Summer of Love. It was no extraordinary work of art, but it was beautifully shot and it had a good enough script. It wasn't about making any sort of point, at least that's not what it felt like to me. It was just telling the story of Mona's summer, and it was a good story. Sometimes a good story is all you need.
I think my favourite scene was Tam out to seek some spiritual guidance from the born again Christian brother, though. Heh.
Anyway, if you've seen and enjoyed that film, please let me know I'm not alone! (
overcraft, don't say anything. I liked the way it was shot, so unstable at times.)
Lifewise, I'm going back to Reims (my parents') tomorrow, and I'll spend the next couple of days packing. On Sunday, it'll be official moving-in day with
greenie_breizh. Yay!
