Well, seems you just picked the wrong places, really. There was music wherever I went (except in the Marais, which seemed quite sucky, I didn't stay more than a few minutes), and many different styles. Brazilian, rock (rock alternatif, and also some more "classical" one in English), latino, native-american, etc... Some pretty good stuff, even.
And btw, there was some capoeira on the Saint-Michel place. And I know there's a special capoeira-related thing currently going on during a few days, but I dunno where because I eventually handed the paper to my mother so that she could give it to that friend of us who dances and teaches capoeira for a living.
