I say I want this man for president. And if he can't be elected here because 1) he's not French and 2) the French would likely never vote for him (you'd have my vote, George!), well he should go for it in the States, damnit.

In other news. We watched the latest L Word episode last night. First off, let me get the superficial stuff out of the way. I squeeed like crazy - like crazy, Joey can testify, along with much flailing and hyperventilating and squealing and OMGing - when Peter Wingfield appeared on screen. I didn't pay attention to the credits, and didn't see his name come up, and so suddenly seeing him there... It's like you think you're totally over an actor, after all the role you really adored him for died 8 years ago that was not Methos in HL4, we'll see about HL5 but I have very little hope, and since then you've delighted in every role he's had, sure, but it's been a while since you last saw him in anything so you think that's it, he holds no such power over you anymore, except bam, there he goes, popping on your screen with no warning and you find yourself a poodle of fangirly gooey glee. Even though his part is as common and unoriginal a lawyer part as you can get.

As for the rest of it. THIS EPISODE WAS BRILLIANT. BRILLIANT, I TELL YOU. All of it, and culminating at that time. And Bette, who was so in touch with things at that moment, that's the only one who does the equivalent of sensing a disturbance in the Force Master (sorry, reflex), and god, Leisha was heartbreaking and so real in the way she just collapsed, and I felt so much for Helena, and oh KateKateKate how much do I love you, it just keeps increasing, my love for you, and my admiration for your acting skills, and my only slight problem with that episode is the way they made Tim a bad guy.

Which, by the way, *squee!* Tim! Tim is back and has horrible hair but god I just wanna squeeze him. Forever. Now. This past few episodes, Jenny has become surprisingly tolerable. I even kinda like her, at times, which, considering it's Jenny, means a whole hell of a lot. She's actually becoming a good, strong person, I find. And so to suddenly bring Tim in, and have all of their past issues resurface, makes him look bad, because it's out of nowhere, and she's been this good, strong person, and he's just being an ass. EXCEPT HE ISN'T. He's actually really being this guy who got fucking hurt by Jenny, in so many ways, god how she fucked with him in S1 and I'm sorry, Jenny, but you deserved everything he threw at you.

To go back to the subject of Dana. I adore the fact that their last words to each other were "I love you"s, and that still they never got back together. I love that they brought back Tanya, which made me go "SQUEAK GET AWAY!" except she was okay. She actually was. And oh god, Leisha, such a good performance. And Erin did an amazing, wonderful, excellent job in this season.

Which leads me to say a few words about the "documentary" that came after that episode. Horribly done, I found. They make it supposedly be about breast cancer, and there's all those absolutely not touching Voice-of-God moments, and it just didn't work. And then they're all sad because it means Erin's leaving the show? Um, excuse me, I thought we were talking of people losing other people? Oh no, yes, let's all be sad that Erin's leaving the show. Not like they can still see her, you know? Not like she suffered a horrible lot before passing away. That just seemed so insensitive. I'm sympathetic to what it's like to suddenly not work with someone in a tv show anymore, I really am, but that simply had no place in that documentary. It cheapened the breast cancer message, so much.

And finally, I just wanna say a word about the Bette thing. It was simply. Amazing. Which I don't often say about things involving Bette. The silent retreat seemed like utter crap, which I'm glad is what they were aiming for, and that scene on the bus stop was just so. So very amazing. It was like something out of a play, or, like Joey pointed out, out of Garden State or I Heart Huckabees. I'd say Garden State more, Huckabees is too much with the whacky for this comparison. But, yes. Brilliant. And how she sensed it when Dana passed away, it was so. Fucking. Touching.

That is all.

I know I keep forgetting to talk about things I wanted to talk about. It annoys me greatly, and makes me think I should start taking notes. Anyway! We bought an external hard drive to store data on, and called him Hoban. It's the perfect name for him, and I love him already. I don't know if I'm more amused when he's plugged into Kaylee, Harken or Simon. ...I'm easily amused, so sue me.

I have a new pupil, a terminale (senior), which should hopefully prove interesting. Should find out next Tuesday. Yay!

Finally, the latest X3 trailer has actually revived my hopes for this movie. It just. Looks. Brilliant. And I want it to be. The fact that Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and (Sir) Ian McKellen got into a debate during an interview about the question of the validity of looking for a cure for the mutants probably played a part, too. If they get that involved in the plot... parallelisms with a cure for homosexuality and blackness were obviously made. I got to it via whedonesque.com, if any of you is intrigued and wants to go look for it. I can't be bothered.

To finish, Nathan? Kindly don't die, kthx.
