"Do you have spoons? And a fork?"

At last, an update! And a real one at that. I've had such little time to myself, and I need to polish up that translation of "Almost Normal" I'm doing for the Nuit Rose ("Pink Night," it's an event organised by the LGBT youth association Joey works at, where they show gay and lesbian films, and this one needs subtitles), but I thought I really should update now or else I never would. 'Cause I keep going all lazy at the thought of everything I need to talk about. So, here goes.
Sports Night
Sports Night is brilliant, yes it is. But I am still very resentful about the laughs. Aaron Sorkin dialogue should never be cheapened by recorded laughter. I'm sure that was a decision by the network. Also, I can't frelling wait for Studio 60. Although I really, really wish Josh Charles was on it. I adore this man.
And god, that second episode and I remember every-frelling-thing I love about Danny.
jade_plume, thank you so much for those episodes.
Life on Mars
I've also started watching Life on Mars - eeep! John Simm! Why did no one tell me it was with John Simm? It's a pretty good show. Not the best ever, but it's pretty good, and dear gods the accents. Yum. Also, I want to speak with that accent. And I'll definitely be looking out for Philip Glenister from now on. I love their interaction, those two.
"My friend is gonna ask you some questions. Personally I hope you don't answer them, because I want you to die in here and end up in a pork pie!"
"How dare you come in here!" "You could've said that to the boy."
That is all. That, and: thanks for that, Fred! Mwah!
Numb3rs
I watched the pilot (courtesy of
jade_plume again) and I never thought I'd find David "Mr. Universe" Krumholtz attractive. But, lo and behold, I do. He's just so very pretty in that show. He's a mathematician geek, but so pretty, and cute, and he has those looks. Those looks that say both "you know I'm adorable" and "come and shag me. preferably now." (It gets disturbing when he gives those looks to Peter McNicol's character. That's a slash pairing I was fine not considering, thank you.)
Also, yay Sabrina Lloyd! Cutie. And yay Alimi Ballard! It took me the whole of ten minutes before I realised where I knew him from - Herbal! Dark Angel's Herbal! Not so much with the Jamaican accent anymore, which is why I had so much trouble recognising him.
As for the episode itself, well, I'm not crazily taken in. But it could be interesting. Mostly I'd be willing to watch it because of David Krumholtz (pretty geek yay!) and Peter McNicol. Because Peter McNicol = love.
Whedonesque stuff
First,
jade_plume, to thank you: Kane - The House Rules. Strongly recommended to anybody that's not feeling too good these days. (YSI was being a pain, so it's on SendOver.)
Then, Nathan owns me. If you go through whedonesque.com you'll find lots of interviews of him these days, due to promoting Slither and shooting White Noise 2, and this man rocks my socks. Also, he made a donation to Into The Black, a fan production that looks damn shiny. I can't wait to see what they do.
Finally, our beloved Reverend Wallet's site has finally been updated. (For those of you who don't know, Reverend Jonny Wallet = Jonathan Woodward.) Thanks to
grimma for the heads-up! ...i might have squeeed when I saw the Byron bit.
Of St Patrick's, Disneyland and Browncoaty things
So. St Patrick's was lovely, even though sadly a greened-up Adelscott doesn't actually look all that green. But I like ales better than lagers, so it couldn't be helped. We went and saw Capote, and while it's incredibly well-acted, I actually dozed off at some point. Slightly. ...but come on, it gets boring. You have to admit it. (I've now got over the fact that Dan Futterman - Shooting Fish's Dan Futterman! - wrote the script. And got nominated for it.)
Which reminds me, have I squeeed about Syriana yet? Because now that was good, and I need to track down interviews of Alexander Siddig and make a full post about him one of these days because oh how it has sparked back to life my love for him. (It doesn't hurt that he looks that frelling gorgeous in a suit. Made me want to compare him to Paul Bettany. That and the quality of the acting.)
Then, Disneyland! We went on Sunday,
greenie_breizh,
jade_plume,
the_swordman and I. Lots of fun were had, of course, and the Indy ride wasn't backwards anymore, which is actually better because you see what's in store for you and apprehension = half the thrill. Sadly, I was the only one interested in the shows and so we caught neither (the Lion King and Tarzan - mostly I was interested in Tarzan, because I've seen it before and the she-apes wear skin-tight costumes and move like Chiana, it's well worth seeing). I'd never been to the Studios park, and it was fun-ish but nothing terribly extraordinary. The Rock'n'RollerCoaster or whatever they call it was the best thing. Good music, at least. Oh, and I had a blueberry muffin and a chocolate donut that were so bleedin' delicious omigod. ...possibly only because they're such a rare commodity in France.
And last but not least, I am completely crazy, and about to quote QaF UK's Stuart. They should've stopped me. Why didn't they stop me? Or however it goes exactly. Because - there was that shop in Frontierland, and it said "Indian jewelry and leather goods." Obviously I had to check it out. I had to. First thing I see? Perfect - and I mean perfect - brown coat. A long, thick duster. ...229 euros. So that was a no. And there were those amazing leather trousers with laces down the side of the calf and oh god how I wanted them, but again, expensive. (This place was seriously heaven for rich Browncoats.) And then I started trying on the cowboy hats.
And that's when everything went to hell.
There was this one hat - brown leather, Australian feel to it - that fit me SO WELL. Joey told me so, and after I saw myself in the mirror I just - yeah. It fit me so frelling well. And it was expensive, but how could I not. They encouraged me to, all three of them! And okay, I wanted it. So what if I never wear it outside of Firefly cons? At least I'll look damn good at Firefly cons. And it goes with my long black worn leather coat so well!
Joey assures me I could wear the hat in the streets, but then again since the "sponge shorts" incident (you guys either know what I mean, and good for you, or don't in which case you're better off remaining in blissful ignorance) I tend to not trust the calls she makes regarding going out in what clothes. What do you say, you other French peeps? Can I got out in the streets of Paris wearing what is, in the end, a cowboy hat?

Date: 2006-03-22 07:21 am (UTC)That's my philosophy (yeah a clothes issue IS a philosophy) :: as soon as i like it and feel good in it, i can wear it. And to the people that are bothered : don't look at me. (Joss, i remember those pink shoes with rubans and strass and diamonds and all that shiny stuff i love, people were looking at my feets all the time with big surprised eyes. Lol it made me even more proud to wear them.)
Anyways.
The Rock'n'RollerCoaster? Much more better than Space Moutain! The starting really worths it.

Date: 2006-03-22 07:24 am (UTC)I'm not a big fan of Space Mountain either, actually. The Disney rides aren't the scarier, I wanna go and do Asterix. Now that'd be scary. Brrr.

Date: 2006-03-22 03:59 pm (UTC)Thank Rosie, she introduced me to the show.
Where did you know John Simm from ?
Did I mention I was really interested in Sports Night, once you're done ? I did... okay :)
Did I mention I can get cheap tickets for Asterix ? I did too... I'm getting old !!
You can wear the hat pretty much whenever you wear your coat especially since it actually fits you. And the ensemble looks great.
And if someone can pull it off it is you.
Oh... Should we start thinking about buying a couple of spurs for your birthday ? ;p

Date: 2006-03-23 06:06 am (UTC)You'll get SN after we're done, yes.
I'll do without the spurs, thank you. I'd love a holster and Zoe's gun, though. :p (Or possibly a jumpsuit. Mmm. Or oh! The Operative's sword! Or River's blue dress.)
