"Let's go liberate Paris."

Age of steel
Mostly: *squee!* Mickey's off to Paris with Jacky-boy! The city of luuurve and romance. (I mean, honestly. What was that about his Gran needing him? Just an excuse to have hot gay sex with Jake Of The Wonderful Accent And Cutest Smile.)
Right, so perhaps we're a bit slash-oriented, Joey and me, but oh well. It was fun.
More seriously though: in the end, name-wise, he's Ricky. He's not going to have his gran call him Mickey. He IS Ricky, and Nine was right all along, and I love Nine, and I miss Nine.
I also love Ten, mind you. David is so very brilliant, I loved the way he played his huge speech to the Controller.
Quote of the episode (approx.): "What do I need a family for? I've got the world on my shoulders." Which is very reminiscent of many a conversation I've had with all of you fellow Who fans on the flist and. Yep. The day he breaks down under the pressure? Not gonna be pretty. There will be bloody bits of the Doctor's equilibrium plastered all over the walls.
Also, Rose is so frelling self-centered, hell. I say, good for Mickey, that he decided to stay. I was afraid they were going to kill him and Jake at some point. And I love the Doctor's parting "idiot" words.
Peter rocked 'til the very end, when he refused to hear what Rose had to say. And when she clang to Jackie going "you're alive! you're alive!"? *EYEROLL* OF COURSE SHE'S ALIVE. Good that they upgraded alternate!Jackie, though.
Also, Mrs. Moore rocked.
And, finally. What the FUCK was up with that "narrator" reading the script's indications at some point? Did anybody else get that? I think they put the wrong version of the episode up for grabs. Ugh. I particularly enjoyed the wind in Rose's long blonde hair.
As usual, I'll probably post some more sensible reactions after I've watched it again this week.

Date: 2006-05-21 03:19 pm (UTC)So half-way through the episode, Brix points out casually that her gaydar is flying off the charts with Jake, and the second she said it, I realized it made PERFECT sense! Then I go home to find slash already up for Ricky/Jake on LJ. This is all I have to say to that: LOL!
There was indeed a weird file going around last night with that narration (I kind of wish I had heard it, it sounds ridiculous!) I was warned about it at
Next week looks SO SO AWESOME. I've been waiting for the 50s episode all season, with the little moped and the Doctor's hair greased back ala Elvis. *fans self* It's going to be HOT! ;D

Date: 2006-05-21 04:01 pm (UTC)And *squee!* about us not being the only ones to see the slashiness. The previous episode already started setting up Mickey's slashiness, but this one here? Ooooh yeah. And Jake's so very cute. And completely had a thing for Ricky.
Ridiculous indeed, god, blah. The long flowing blond hair was just... oh god. The worst of it, definitely.
lol. I wasn't so thrilled by the teaser, not as teasing as usual I found. Possibly because how do you follow up on a Cybermen two-parter exactly?

Date: 2006-05-22 06:47 am (UTC)Oh and I finally recognised the Jack guy. He's a presenter for children BBC, I knew I already saw him somewhere.
And good for Mickey to stand on his own. When he finds the others after ricky's death, is it just me or is he tempted to impersonate Ricky ?
