Why, my little love muffin is most decidedly Zaf. Think Spooks. I don't even know why, I just keep wanting to call him that. And Adam breaks me.

Who is not my little love muffin? That would be Robin. As in from Robin Hood. The Beeb can do so much better than this, honestly. This is the same simple old stuff shot in an overly brand new way and I hate hate hate the way they shoot the action scenes. I want subtlety. I want depth. I want a charismatic Robin. I want a Marian I do not feel like slapping. I want a romance I can care about. I want Christian Slater's Will Scarlet (although we've barely seen the kid, so who knows maybe he'll rock, this is just me pining for Christian Slater again). I want less stereotypical villains. I want Marian to wake up and realise that Guy is so much more worth it than Robin. I want the Sheriff to like his birdies instead of kill them. I want something new. I want something surprising.

I'm still going to keep watching because of Richard Armitage, yes.

In better Richard news, I've watched the first episode of The Impressionists and it's quite lovely to watch him and Charlie Condou. It's not the most heartbreaking OMG bestest series ever, but it's quite enjoyable. And Charlie needs lots of hugs.

No, actually, I prefer you 'nature', like we say. Or, occasionally, with some ice cream.

I'm told I'm quite delicious with ice cream. [nods]

Keep going girls... Don't mind me ;-p

And new Robin Hood ? I'll have a look.
For a second here, I thought you were starting to watch the 80's Robin Hood after seeing the Bloopers at S3... Bad brain, no cookies (that goes for the first part of this reply too :)

Actually, I kinda want to. At least it looked like they had a lot of fun on set! And if the bloopers are any indication, it must be highly slashable. ;) But, no, new Robin Hood, so not my little love muffin. Bleh.

Wait.. there's a new Robin Hood? Why? That one from the 80s was perfect!!! ♥Nasir!

I haven't seen the 80s one! Now I sort of want to. A lot. Because it'll be 80sish, obviously, but I'm also bound to like it better than that one.

You haven't seen it? ŁOJ! Trust me, you've missed a lot. This is the best RH filming EVER! That's just not my opinion, it's opinion of pretty much everyone that have ever seen it. I remember when I was a kid and they were showing it, the streets were deserted, everyone watched it!
You must, must, must get your hands on it!

I've now watched the pilot! Oh so much more pleasurable than the latest one. It's sort of porn but with everybody's clothes on and no sex. Okay so it's not really porn but bear with me it really sort of is.

The 80s version is indeed awesome. I love it and think it's the best Robin Hood ever.

I agree with your opinion of how the new BBC Robin Hood is shaping up. It's not the worst show I've ever seen, but it's just so boring. I'd forgive them anything though, if they were to make it the Richard Armitage Hour..er, Forty-Five Minutes? ;)

Anyhow, I read what you posted on my LJ and you certainly may friend me. The thing is, I haven't been posting very much at [livejournal.com profile] sekhmets_temple. I've been posting loads lately at my other LJ, [livejournal.com profile] aka_paloma.

I created two separate LJs because I wanted one for fandom and one for real life--well, as real life as one can get on LJ. For some reason (I don't really know why) I began to post a lot more on my "real life" one since August, so much so that I went and got a paid account for it so I could have loads of shiny icons. It's now become mostly a fandom LJ with a few posts about work and family.

You will get a much better sense of what I am into these days at [livejournal.com profile] aka_paloma such as my love for Spooks, North & South/Richard Armitage, and Jack Davenport. Ah, yes. My love for Mr Davenport. Actually, I'm quite pathetic (and a little scary) where both Mr Armitage and Mr Davenport are concerned. ;) So again, I'm 110% okay with you friending me, but you'll get a lot more interaction out of me at the Paloma LJ.

I'm thinking of eventually shutting [livejournal.com profile] sekhmets_temple down. I've just been too lazy to put up an announcement on that LJ so that anyone who's interested can friend [livejournal.com profile] aka_paloma. Of course, this is all hugely ironic, as I've posted a lengthy comment about it in your LJ when I could have just as easily done so at my Sekhmet LJ and it would have all been taken care of. Far be it for me to do things the easy way.

Why do things the easy way when you can just be complicated. I'll go friend your other journal, then! Jack Davenport is also one of my favourite actor - from back when I first saw Ultraviolet. I've loved him in everything I've seen him in since. Oh so much love.

...and I think I need an icon of him that is not out of PotC2.

Well, one can never have too many Jack Davenport icons, I think, regardless of fandom.

And welcome to my journal!

I had high hopes for Robin Hood, but alas they were dashed at the first hurdle. Not enough Richard Armitage, and there was far too much black eyeliner (both on him and the trollope Robin was kissing for no apparent reason).
I got the feeling the programme thought it was far too clever for it's own good. I will no doubt keep on watching, but all the time will be praying for Doctor Who's swift return.

I'll take the black eyeliner on him, although the pointless trollop I could have done without. What struck me most was the lipstick on her. The one that didn't smear for all the kissing they did. But, yes, Richard wasn't there half as much as he should've been, and his role - like every other we've seen so far - was decidedly simplistic and shallow. Give him three dimensions, damnit! Even if all the other characters remain flat, he deserves three dimensions. Or given his acting skills, he might as well give Guy a third dimension whether the writers write it in or not. God I'm rambling. Anyway!
Yes! I think the editing was a big part of the we're-too-clever feel. Torchwood, first. I want Torchwood to be good so badly. Then DW.

I couldn't stand Marian either - what is she meant to be? Some teasing debutante? Richard was great though, and I liked that Guy recognised Robin's authority and his rights, even when the Sheriff didn't, or thought that the only right that mattered was the right to beat down someone who carried less weapons than you. I'm divided about Robin - at times he was so very lightweight, and plain on top of that. At other times, like at the nobles meeting when he just marched in and started grilling the Sheriff, his feet on the seat of his chair, when EVERYBODY knew that he carried the invisible weight of having fought with King Richard in the Holy Land - then, I almost liked him.

I'm semi-afraid that the whole Guy recognizing Robin's rights is just going to mean a lot to us fangirls but that the writers won't really remember it and will just make him stereotypically bad. Really hoping they won't, though. Because Richard! Mmmm.

And you know, I did half like him in that scene (which is more than I did in any of the others), but there was still something that annoyed me. He just doesn't have the charisma to pull off the things he's pulling off, I think, and for that I can't really believe in him. Hmpf.
