So yeah, it's all over LJ but I need to have my own mini-ramble about it because seriously. People will have said it much more eloquently than me, I'm not even gonna aim for eloquent, I just need to profess my love for my fandom.

For those who still had any doubts, I hope this weekend settled the fact that the Firefly fandom is absolutely the best fandom of all times. I feel so much love for everybody involved. So. Much. Love. Including Clare Kramer. A special mention also goes to Jonny Woodward, who seems to have been instrumental in the last minute plans. Our captain was our captain, Alan came despite an early flight to go shoot on the Saturday, Michael Muhney showed up just because he didn't want the fans disappointed and he's not even a Firefly guy how much do I love this guy, Michael Fairman showed up which makes me so happy because that means he absolutely meant what he told us at Serenity Cubed and we love you too Michael, Christina brought her date along (it was their first date!), Mark generally rocks ("why wouldn't I come?") as does Adam who stepped by on Thursday to cheer up the crowds, Tim showed up yesterday, Morena wasn't scheduled either but she came by, the Feldman twins were there too, I know I must be forgetting people but come on who can blame me so many people showed up!

And let's also cheer for the SoCal Browncoats who helped organise everything that made this weekend into the wonderful success that BE seemed intent it wouldn't be, as well as the Browncoats who weren't attending Flan but donated so much to help throw this impromptu Backup Browncoat Bash. I love my fandom, I love the people in it, I love you all. They can't take the sky from us.

Damned. It's too late, but I just found the appropriate formulation (30 caracters was too short to easily express the whole idea).
"Aniseed-free absinth bottle"
(aka the birthday gift idea I couldn't give to you)

;-)

30 characters IS way too short. It keeps limiting my creativity!

Also, does that actually exist? Is that the, er, Czech sort? Or something. There was a sort of absinth that wasn't drunk like the regular. You had to set something on fire. Either way, yesplease! I'd love to actually enjoy absinth one day. *grins*

*frowns at icons* So I don't have a one of them that fits the "drinking" theme. This is wrong.

I'm afraid not. I just made it up to fill your stocking. ;-)
The thing is, I had planned on giving you an absinth bottle for your birthday, it sounded like a great present. But just before buying it I remembered you don't like aniseed. I have like one single good present idea each year, and that 2006 burst of creativity was crushed! What a dramatic day... :p Anyway, now that I think of it, aniseed-free absinth would have been the solution.
Maybe it DOES exist. It's worth checking. ^^

No "drinking" icon? What a shame, I don't recognize you anymore... *shake head with a desperate look on my face*

Aha! I knew I hadn't dreamed it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe#Czech.2C_or_Bohemian.2C_absinth)

Well, I never did have - oh, yes, actually, I used to have, once upon a time, an icon with the hobbit pints of beer, that went both for friendship and drinking really. But, yes, no. I tried to find good beer mugs to icon once upon a time, but didn't manage to do anything that satisfied me, so. ...I think the simple fact that I gave this much thought to this drinking icon business should reassure you that I am, in fact, me.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be any close from real absinth, so I can't offer you that as a substitute. Well, unless you really really insist, I mean... :p

Hey, I think I do remember that icon, actually. ^^
Maybe there's an interesting icon to do with that Kwak glass? But that wouldn't come from a movie... Nah, maybe you do have to wait for The Hobbit to be produced, and see if there's anything to do with the wine barrels they use to escape from the Elves. ;-)
Ahhh, too bad there isn't any real good The Three Musketeers movie, there's something epic about the Athos scenes in the wine cellar.

lol, well, I don't know that I'd like it either, seeing as how they say it's pretty damn bitter, so better not risk it. But thanks for the thought. ;) There's always that cocained up wine they used to have or whatever. I vaguely remember mentioning that in the Byron fic, and I was intrigued by what it'd be like.

Heh! And well, I would've, but I don't actually like that beer that much, so it annoys me a little to. I'm complicated like that. Doesn't have to be out of a movie, really. I just need to find a picture that really speaks to me and that I could icon properly. :p

TRACY, REMY IS NOT YOURS TO GIVE.

But he's totally willing to go along with that present. Yep. ;D

THANK YOU. I'm sure she knew that? And I'll take that present thank you very much. Joey'll be over there taking pictures. (What, it's not like I'd be able to take any sort of good pictures. And I'm sure I'll need my hands.)

Can't remember the city where you used to live there, but that's the idea. A week end back there to see all your friends/pupils.
