Okay so only two noms for Children of Men? Meh. But at least they're well deserved. What I can't get over, however, is OMG ALAN ARKIN IS UP FOR AN OSCAR. This would make me so fucking happy if it happened. I have loved him through so many more or less tiny parts. That man deserves it. (You know who else thinks Alan Arkin is a brilliant actor? Alan Tudyk. *smiles the smile of the truly geeky*)

Also, happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] the_raphos! Hope you had a good day, and are going to have a good year! How old did you just turn anyway?

Oh, and Rufus Sewell is up for an Olivier, too, [livejournal.com profile] woodsong_1978 informed me. This is a interview of his that demonstrates pretty much everything I love about him. And oh, do I love him. I've got it in my head that he needs to play Oberon.

Also, LJ can bite me.

Thanks Fan'. My day was okay. I know birthdays are supposed to be special, but, meh. Oh, and I turned 26.

Well, as long as it wasn't special for lack of trying, and not for lack of wanting. ...did that sentence just make sense? I don't know, it's 7am, am I supposed to make any sort of sense? *squishes* Happy birthday anyway.

That does make sense, although I had to read it a few times. But yeah, I wasn't really trying to make it special. I haven't "celebrated" my birthday in quite awhile. I just like when people remember. That's all I need.

Speaking of which though, how did you know? Did I tell you at some point? Because I totally forgot if I did.

*is squished*

I didn't, in fact, know. I don't think you ever told me. Somebody else mentioned it, though. Fanclub unites and all. ;)

Oh, Rufus. GUH. *grabby hands*

He's not in nearly enough movies I'm not embarrassed to have seen.

He's in entirely too many movies I'm still not embarassed to have seen because I haven't seen them yet. Aka he's going to make me go and see The Holiday and The Illusionist pretty much just for him. Seriously, Rufus.

I never thought I'd meet anyone else who thought that Alan Arkin was brilliant. I LOVE Alan Arkin! I've been a fan of his for... well, a lot of years. Wouldn't it be great if he won???

And thanks for the link to Rufus' interview. *fangirl sigh*

Hee! I've loved him for quite a few years as well. I know I was in high school when I spotted him, and his voice, for the first time. I also quite enjoy his son, but nowhere near as much as him. There's just something about the way Alan acts.

Don't mention it. It's a joy to spread the Rufus!love.

Alan Arkin rocks hard. Always has. Always will. :D

I'm so behind on the films from last year that I think checking out the Oscar noms will leave me mostly repeating: What? Who? They were in a movie last year? Which? When? Erm, kinda like Alan Arkin's nom, actually. ::is ashamed::

Heee! I had no clue anybody else actually loved him, and that makes already two of you on my flist.

Don't be ashamed; remedy to it. He's nominated for Little Miss Sunshine, which is a movie you truly want to go and see. It's got quite a lot of noms, which I'm quite surprised about because the Oscars and I don't usually agree (which just means it won't get actual Oscars, likely), and it is seriously brilliant. Alan certainly is. It's a movie you have to see, honestly. Very dry, incredibly funny, a great reflexion on the US and family.
