I need your help. I'm quite pathetically unable to choose a name for Willow and Haldir's son. Here are the three propositions I narrowed it to. There are two names each time, because I simply can't see Haldir accepting not to give him an Elvish name, but an Elvish name is not quite the easiest way to go through society. So each time I picked an "English" name that sounded close to the original and that the kid would use to make his life easier.
Now, while I can't quite divulge the plot to you all, do bear in mind while voting that 1) knowing his parents, they'll both pay attention to what his name means, and 2) the kid is not going to be any kid. He'll have a bit of his mum, a bit of his dad, and he'll hopefully kick some arse. If he doesn't, the world is quite simply doomed.

Date: 2004-07-03 05:01 pm (UTC)I'm not fond of "Collion", but the "golden red one" thing could hint to both his parents, and since you want him to kick some arse, "victory of the people" sounded good.
I liked better how the third one sound, but... Gael? The first thing that would come to mind is NOT "Hey, it's an elvish name". Or, well, it wouldn't do that to us French people.
So I picked choice #2.

Date: 2004-07-03 05:49 pm (UTC)So, now I know what to do with my people of the Summers house in the Sims. I was bored of them. Now all I have to do is to introduce an elf in the neighborhood, make him marry Willow and buy them a kid (yeah, it's way too long to have one the normal way or wait for the adoption services to call, so I downloaded the 600§ baby :D )

Date: 2004-07-03 06:16 pm (UTC)It's been ages since I haven't played the Sims. I remember being harrassed by phone calls offering me to adopt kids, though. That's what you get from pairing your cute handsome guys with the cute handsome male neighbors a tad too often. :::eg:::
(Or not necessarily neighbors for that matter)

Even though I never got them to get married, I usually tended to provide enough good looking guys to start with. They were allowed to seduce the neighbors, though. Even those from the weird family leaving in the creepy manor.

The cool thing is that even a kid whose both parents died in a fire can buy his/her little brother/sister (yeah, it happened once, so i continued having fun making crazy things with the kid and didn't save the game. I like my characters).
Oh, great, I found an Haldir skin. Now I go test it.

Date: 2004-07-04 03:06 am (UTC)As for Gael, it's actually a common Celtic name around here. For guys. Girls get Gaelle. But anyway - yes, I suppose it *is* rather feminine. Hadn't even thought of it.

Date: 2004-07-04 06:55 am (UTC)About Collin - quite frankly, the two l's are only there so that I don't think of BMB's Colin each time I read the name. ;) But I prefer it, too, with one l. Apart from that, well I am torn. And so far the poll is not helping. I like Collion/Col(l)in better as far as meanings are concerned, but as for the names themselves, I like Cillen and Cillian better. And then, I do have a soft spot for Gael. Always had something for -ael names.
Again: I am torn. I think I'm dismissing Gael though. Yay! One less option. We're getting there... slowly.
