You guys! Well, you guys from HN and/or you guys that are fans of the Authority! It's like Apollo's finally back!

GOD I missed him. But after origami and zen patience exercises, he is back and in the mood to put his fist through somebody's head. And butting heads with Mr. Majestic! How cool. And Midnighter's so on, too. It's sad that a crossover gets Apollo, and thus their couple, more right than the Midnighter series ever has.

PS: I've just watched the pilot of the Black Donnellys and I should've got to that show earlier. Just one episode and I was already tearing up by the end. It is so good! And it has Kirk Avecedo, passing off as an Italian this time. I wonder what his bloodline really is.

PPS: please not to advertise that a movie stars Jérémie Rénier when all it has of him is his voice, for three lines, at the very end. Other than that, 28 Weeks Later was a fairly stressful horror movie, but oh how it hurt to see Danny Boyle as executive producer when you knew how much more than a simple horror movie the first installment was.

Oh thank God. At least somebody is getting Apollo's characterization right. Damn you, Wildstorm. Why can't you do this?

Whoever writes the Midnighter series needs to remember that Mid HAS a husband. And a daughter. And...well, you know. Stuff.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh god. Yes. Stuff. Mostly they need to remember who that husband is, who that daughter is. Ennis screwed Apollo up beyond measure for the very simple reason that Ennis has never liked Apollo and he never tried to hide said dislike. So when he was given the reins he went all out with the origami. Bloody idiot. He's like those old Buffy bashers who write Buffy fic centered on another character and wrote Buffy herself as little more than a bimbo.

...I have issues with Ennis. But now it's - Vaughan, isn't it? I'd expect better from him, damnit! Hmpf.

But you have to admit that the issue 6 (the one in Japan), though a bit... off (felt like a fanfic) was pretty good when it comes to Apollo/Mindy love.

To the love, yes. Because of that devotion. But to Apollo? It was as bad as ever. The emo tear! The emo tear. If you ask me, Ennis has become unable to write Apollo. I need to go reread the old Kevs to see if he was always that bad at it.

New series of THe Authority starts next month, so I'm hoping for some more asswhooping. I like the calm Apollo and I firmly believe that when he's not painting or scrubbing blood off Mindy, he's somewhere kicking head off but I'd love to see it, for a change.

Do you know where I could get scans of the latest series? I haven't even read it. Although I was told by a friend that Jenny was now Quarx instead of Quantum and that was all terrible. Hmpf.

But yeah, I know, right? I love that Apollo is totally the calm one of the two, but that doesn't mean he isn't a badass. Seriously! The painting I could sort of deal with, it's the origami that made me really lose my shit in a not-fun way. Damn you, Ennis.

THAT series only got 2 issues in about a year (the first one didn't even have the Authority in it!) and is currently on hiatus. They are launching a new one, Authority Prime, plus a mini called Midnighter: Armageddon. I've seen some teaser pages on S_D, search 'the authority' tag. As for download maybe you will find something here

Did they just fight Ctulhu? DUDE. I am so on board. And in the Armageddon, when he asks if he looks like some kind of detective? Oh, Midnighter, you have no idea. God I can't wait now! *claps hands* And Jenny's our Jenny again. We'll see what it's like.

LOL Oh my god, that's wonderful. Thank you Apollo, for coming back AND bringing the pretty.

Isn't it? It's amazing! SQUEE! Now I'm hoping the next Authority and Midnighter series will actually take after that crossover. For real. *clings to the real Apollo and sobs with relief*

I loved Kirk Acevedo in the pilot and I really loved the dynamic of the brothers. But I never got into the show before it was cancelled. I guess, for me, if you're going to do a mob show you just can't do it honestly on network television. After television like The Sopranos (which I don't even really like that much), anything less brutal and gruesome just seems a bit white-washed.

Oh, and Kirk is of Chinese and Puerto Rican decent. So, uh, not Italian at all! But then Fergie tried to pass off Milo
Ventimiglia
as Latino in that music video of one of her awful songs, so...

Well, I've only watched the pilot, but it did manage to get to me emotionally, which is already something. I never got into the Sopranos, mind, so I can't really contrast and compare. I'll watch and see, anyway!

lol, yes, people can be passed off as so many different things. Mark Dacascos has played so many different origins it's insane.
