"You could have fooled me."
Jun. 4th, 2005 10:46 amI know some people are bound to look at me weird for what I'm about to say, but everyone who's given a true chance to that show will have to agree (hopefully): Doctor Who is a hell of a good show. I just watched Father's Day and it was, quite simply, brilliant. Yes, I love to witness tension in the ranks. I still can't say that I'm a big fan of Rose (she could have fooled me too), but... she's all right. And that script was simply amazing. Why don't we have children's shows like that in France? Or is it just that my lil bro only watches the crappy stuff? Things that talk about sacrifice, family, failure, loss, life and death and all the in-between, things that don't take friendship for granted, things with flawed, human heroes/sidekicks (and maybe a time lord, too), things that don't take children for two-brain-celled individuals...
I think back to what I watched when I was young. Sure, some of that stuff was amazing... and said amazing stuff? It's not on anymore. My little brother has never watched the Golden Cities. But sure, now he's hooked to Nicky Larson (something I couldn't bear to watch even at the time). Where has all the good stuff gone?...
