I don't suppose there's anyone out there that could beta-read an "A Knight's Tale" fanfiction? One that is *not* slash, mind you?

How sad is it that the only A Knight's Tale fiction archive I could find on the net is slash? I don't mind slash - hell, I read slash, I enjoy slash, good slash in both cases of course, I spent a great part of the day today hesitating between trying myself at some Sparrington or doing that Kate/Wat I finalled settled on doing - I just find it sad that there seems to be nowhere where I can archive this fic of mine when I'm finished, let alone *read* other fics of the same kind. I will however sort through those slash fics, and hopefully find something that is worth reading.

Hell, if one of the cut scenes had not shown Chaucer to be 1) married, and 2) very happily so, I would have slashed him myself, though in an "unrequited love" way, and thus a "not getting any" way, or at least not with the one he so dearly wished to get it on with. Might still do it one of these days, I'd need to give it more thought. I just love the character so, hard to write though he might turn out to be. (And I apologise in advance to fans of the *actual* Chaucer out there. I don't know anything about the real man (does *any*one?), apart from having read the Wife of Bath's Tale, and I'm all with the character here. Just blame it on Paul Bettany. Guy's too good not to make me obsessed.)

Anyway, to come back to my point: again, I don't suppose there's anyone out there that could beta-read an "A Knight's Tale" fanfiction? I'm beginning to fear I'm the only one fascinated with those characters in a non "let's slash them" way. Wat and Kate were just begging to be written about! I'm only sad I could not write Edward in - Chaucer and Germaine each had their cameo, but writing him in would have been pointless and simply for the sake of it, so I refrained (note to self: one more reason to write that Chaucer fic).

If anyone is, I'd be quite grateful. This fic might all turn out to be one huge piece of shite, and I'd rather I was told that much than I went ahead and published it without having a clue.

Anyway, I'm off to write the third and last part.

Well... I can *read* it and give you my opinion, for what it's worth... you could force me to A Knight's Tale to make sure I know the characters...

lol, I won't force you. I'll just brief you. The fic just needs somebody's opinion on it. Thanks, love!

I've never beta-read, so I don't know what's involved, but I'd like to volunteer. Just tell me what you need me to do. I love the movie, and this would be a great excuse to watch it again. :)

And any excuse to watch it again should be welcome with open arms, 'ey? ;) Tell me, let us see how far our common liking of characters go: who are your favourite characters in it?

Anyway, I'd be extremely grateful for you to beta it! What is involved, let's see... First, on a very basic level, considering the Frenchness of me, I'd obviously need English mistakes pointed out to me, and probably some suggestions of reformulations to make some sentences sound more English. But also, your honest opinion about the story, as in, does it work well, is the characterisation all right, the rhythm, the flow, all of it. Beta-reading is pretty much constructive criticism, really.

I'll need to work a bit more on it, and then if you're still up for it (if that big hunk of a paragraph didn't discourage you from beta'ing) I'll send it your way.

My favorite characters... ooh. Hard. Sexiest was the Black Prince. Most interesting was Adhemar. Most fun to watch was definitely Chaucer. Most endearing was Wat. But overall favorite? It has to be Kate.

Considering your Frenchness, I'm not worrying about having to correct much! Your English is better than 99% of the people I know in *America*.

I can handle it! I'm kinda excited, even. And hey, like you say, open arms for any excuse to watch that movie. Would you believe that the trailers and posters turned me off so bad, I had to be forced by a friend to watch it the first time? LOL!

Sexiest was most definitely the Prince. That scar added to it, methinks. I quite agree with Brian Helgerland and Paul Bettany when they say he should be James Bond. *He* could pull it off. (But then, I'd rather they didn't hire him and he kept doing more interesting roles, and better films.)

Adhemar - I love Rufus Sewel, he does a wonderful job on him. If it wasn't for him, Adhemar would be shallow and uninteresting.

I think Chaucer is my favourite, really, but that's because I am growing obsessed with Paul Bettany. Any performance of his that I've seen has sucked me in and not let me go.

Wat I adore, and Kate too. Kate I mostly adore in the glimpses we get of her. Pretty much like Adhemar, it's what they become in our minds that is so very interesting. Anyway, if you love her so, yay! 'Cause the fic's partly about her. So hopefully I'll have gone a good job on her.

About my Frenchness - due to it, I know grammar rules and the such better than most Americans, true. But sometimes my turns of phrase are just terribly French, you know?

Tell me about it. Didn't see it when it got released because I thought it would be crap. I don't think I would have watched the movie if it weren't for Allan Tudyk, who plays Wat. We were in a youth hostel in London and the telly was on, and since both of us there were fans of Firefly (Joss Whedon's short-lived tv show whose cast Allan is part of), we both started and went, 'oh! redheaded Allan!' and then watched the end of the film. I remember already being fascinated by Chaucer, despite not knowing Paul at all. I think I was destined to fall for Paul.

And anyway, now here I am with a huge obsession and a need to put them all down on paper. They're all so very endearing, and that movie is plain, good quality fun, supported by amazing actors.
