[livejournal.com profile] houses7177's icon-making frenzy made me want to do a couple of my own. Did one with Chaucer and one with Brenda and Billy Chenowitz from SFU, since I didn't find much Billy icony goodness at all and was in a Jeremy-Sisto-lovin' mood - check out my icons, and grab if you will (but do credit me in the keywords).

Anyone know enough Italian to translate the whole of the lyrics of "Tu vuo' fa' ll'americano" to me? I guessed some of them, sis could translate a few, but I'm much in the dark for most of the song. I like knowing what I'm singing.

Will be gone all weekend to yet another marriage, near Limoges this time, and with many more people than last time. Hope I'll meet some interesting folks. Hope little sis will be in the mood to dance all night, too.

Quite like the Chaucer one. Should really see the movie again...

Thanks! I'm simply in love with Paul Bettany's performance.

I don't know why I so often find your icons to be too dark. I have troubles reading the quotes most of the time. But then other people don't seem to have that trouble, so.....

Even the Chaucer one?

And all I can say is, really not too dark for me, neither one.

Nah, the Chaucer one is fine. That's why I said "so often" and "most of the time". :-P

But on the Chenowitz one, I can't read the two words using a different font. And I only found out they existed because the quote didn't make much sense without them. ;-)

Well they *are* meant to be half-transparent so you can actually see the picture, that's why. But totally readable for me, in any case.

Ok.

But... can you tell me what they are? (And no, that wouldn't prevent me from sleeping this night, but... ;-) )

"Without that reflection looking back at him he doesn't exist." It's Billy talking about how Narcissus doesn't love himself, he hates himself.

Such a good show.

Hmm, I should do a Gabe icon one of these days.

Ok, thanks. Now the quote definitely ring some bells.

Btw... I found out yesterday in Téléstar that "Six pieds sous terre" is now airing on France 2. I went argh.

Yeah, I heard about that. It's a shame they're showing it in French, but what do you expect? In any case, you can't be bad at their translating the title. For once they got it right. ;)

That was an interesting typo. You can't be *mad*, obviously, not bad.

Yeah, but... Didn't they keep "Six Feet Under" on Canal +? It already aired in French as SFU, maybe it wasn't that required to translate the title for a second airing.
Anyway, ok, much better than "Joan of Arcadia" as "Le Monde de Joan", but....

Ah, can't wait to see "Luciole" on Série Club. ;-P

Well it's France 2, not Canal+, that's all there is to it. They have to mark their difference. Hmm, kind of the same thing, didn't they have 24 heures chrono, and also 24, on Canal + and TF1? I don't wanna know what goes through their minds; I'm just happy when a translation is actually a good one. ;)

Yes, Luciole certainly will be an... experience. With Jaynie. *eyeroll*

Actually, I have this problem too, on some of the icons. Usually takes me a bit to figure out what's being said. But, this is only on LCD monitors, not on the standard cathode tube ones like TVs. As in, my laptop and my flatscreen make it difficult to read them, but I can read them fine on the home computer- does this make sense?

I think it's the way the pixels are presented- can make similar colors too close together. It's why I try to check out icons on both before I post them- there really is a difference.

I love your icons anyway, you know that. And am really jonesing for the movie now...

Yeah, it makes sense. Quite a lot, especially since my good ol' monitor died a few weeks ago and that we have a brand new one for the PC at home. A flat one. LCD.
I know I used to see the icons better on the PC than on the laptop. It still works for most images, but apparently not for those. (though, huh, it's a tad better than on the PC at work, which is definitely not LCD. But this one has always been not too good)

It does make sense, only I see them equally well on non-laptop and laptop... I am quite puzzled. (Maybe Mac laptop screens are weird, to let me see them as they're supposed to look?)

You should get the DVD. The bonuses rock. ;)

Really love some of your icons, too, btw. The Initiative does need some loving, and I much like the Devil in Designer Shoes one. And Amber Benson is just beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

Just call me if you meet a shaman. ;-P
I did during the last wedding I went to. Quite weird experience.

For the song, http://www.lacoccinelle.net/traduction-chanson-2800-.html
It's in the movie "The talented Mr Ripley" ? I've seen it but I don't remember this scene.

Thanks for the translation! And yes, of course! They sing it in that club. I love the scenes at the club.

Ha, I should do myself a Peter icon one of these days. And a Dickie one. :)
