It's a bit hard to get my mind around the fact that in three days' time I'll be back in France, and most likely thoroughly snogging and then more having a very meaningful philosophical debate with
greenie_breizh to make up for the time apart. I will try to write to all of you I should have written to ages ago, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Also, here is a mission for y'all: seeing as how I'll be rediscovering the joys of unfiltered internet access, I'll have to stack up loads of good fanfiction to last me until Easter. So people, I want recs. Recs, recs, recs, and then some more recs. I'm ready to take about anything. "Je suis en manque," like we say about addicts not getting their fix - no clue what the phrase is in English. Anyway. As long as it's good, I want it.
Now, a little bit about what I've been up to lately. As you probably gathered, I've been out a lot. Friday night was Vanilla and Queer with Fred and the girls, I had a lovely time but missed Joey an awful lot. Saturday was a bar called Hollywood in the Village, v. nice and, again, dancing with gay guys rocks. On Sunday I actually stayed in - watched The Affair of the Necklace, fairly good (and ah, I did not know Adrien Brody could be so attractive - I think I have a thing for 18th-century clothing), and the end of Bring It On (Eliza!). I watched bits and pieces of a Miss Marple adaptation due to the presence of the lovely Jack Davenport, who once again had bad hair. However, it was ever so dull and his role was just so conventional. He was - surprise - the superintendent. Fairly disappointing.
Then on Monday, Fred and the girls and I went out to Queen's Court, a gay club in Leeds. It was pretty good but I was just far too tired. I can't deal with going out that much, not at the end of term when I'm already so tired. We ate Chinese beforehand and it's not as good as the Chinese we have in France, let me tell ya. I really want to go and eat at Le Palais d'Asie at some point (Elodie, if you're reading this, let's organise this).
On Tuesday I slept and slept and slept. And yesterday was the Christmas meal with all the language staff, it was great. I talked with some teachers I'd never really talked with before and it was all manners of nice. The food wasn't exceptionally brilliant but it was good. We also planned our next night out in Manchester with Stuart (no, girls, settle down, not that Stuart), in indie bars instead of Canal Street this time - Fred, what have you got planned for January the... 12th is it? Well, anyway, we're so going out then. We might also have a Spanish teacher (as in, actually Spanish) coming with us, you'll see he's ever so nice, and that way you can actually talk some Spanish!
As far as lessons go, this week I've had them all working on songs - you Frenchies, you know how our English teachers always make us do that? Fill in the blanks in the lyrics? They never do that here. Weird. Anyway. I can't wait to be on holidays. On the downside, I won't be able to teach the primaries again on the new year, which is a shame. Also, grading papers and orals is just weird - I have to force myself not to be too nice to them on the orals, while essays are actually easier to comment on, probably 'cause I don't actually garde them but just give my opinion in details to the teacher.
And last but so very much not least, my Drew-minion-ness is coming back to me full force. I'm set out to convert as many people as possible, mainly by working Drew references into every one of my BR posts, and since our lovely dictator Joey is on her way to becoming a minion herself, she's unlikely to Jimjo me for it. (Plus I give her cookies - or I will very shortly. It's in her interest not to Jimjo me. *evil grin*)
Anyway, just out of curiosity, are there any other minions of Drew around? I need to join up their LJ community as soon as I have access to the LJ site. (Note to self: I need myself a Drew icon.)
I'll let the Ultimate One finish that entry and try to convince you guys to join up (http://www.drewgoddard.com/), I'll write more about the Ultimateness that is him soon:
"Minions, as always, you are the reason I get up in the morning. Without you, I am merely a minion-less amazingly talented writer man-god. So, good thing I have you. "
