I finally got my Firefly and QaF UK DVDs! Yay! Happies all around! Am having the best of time with QaF right now - and no bloody subtitles, too. Those accents are just... And Alfred is the cutest little baby. A few choice quotes:

"Fifteen! He's fifteen!" "Well the car's six months old and you've still buggered it."

"Right. Everybody's havin' a go at me!"

"It's not a family. It's sex. Everything you do is sex."

"D'you know what I'd do? Run. Run like the wind."

"What could possibly go wrong?" "Fuck you." "Hmm. Nice comeback."

"That is completely, completely fantastic! ... God I'm so sad."

"As soon as I saw you I said, clever little bastard." "That's right. Everybody havin' a go at me." "I said clever."

"Lesbian letters... can I read them?" "I doubt it. Joined up handwriting."

"I'll do it. I'll do it 'cause I'm stupid. And I sorta love you." "Put them down." "Too late. I'm in love!"

"You could say thanks." "..." "You can't. Stuart Jones. You're such a twat."

"It is your fault! It's all your fault! 'Cause you just - shag!"

"My world's so fucking huge!!"

Aaaah. I love this show. I expect I'll watch some Firefly tonight. When I'm done having a life, I have the beginning of a plot bunny about crossing Firefly and Highlander. It all started when Methos and Mal absolutely *had* to meet in that bar, and then got out of hands when I realised what Methos was drinking himself into oblivion about. I quite like this plot bunny, I don't wanna ruin it. Just like the third part of Crossed Destinies (Unique and It ends with a new beginning are the first two). So I'll heavily plan those before I start writing them.

And then of course, I'm hitting a dry spot about A Flight of Fancy. I also need to plan the whole rewriting of Tapping (BtVS/HP) before I launch myself into it. Muses keep you busy, they really do.

Yeah, I can't believe I didn't tell you! Yeah, I am. 'Cause come on, as if I could resist the idea of Haldir with his baby... and eventually teenage son. But it'll have to wait. A long while. Real life's a bitch. ;)

[squees with delight]

If you like that idea, you're gonna LOVE upcoming chapters of BoB-- Haldir with Alasse (his daughter with Corinne). I'm trying to convince [livejournal.com profile] technoelfie that she needs to do some art for me of all the guys and their offspring-- can you imagine?

Boromir with Mercas, Faramir with Leofa, Haldir with Alasse. Simple too cute to be permitted, really.

I understand about real life. Good luck beating it into submission.

I'm so jealous, Fan! I've been hooked on the US version of QaF ever since my buddy Larien came up to visit for a weekend. I seriously adore this show, its funny and sexy as hell. I imagine the UK version is even more so, because the British are known for their humor :)Plus the added bonus of the accents...sigh....love a man with an accent, I don't care what kind...unless its Ghetto Homeboy accent, that really doesn't work for me. Anyway, lucky you! Squee happily a couple times for me, will ya? [thinks about all those yummy guys with British accents, squees again]. Okay, 'nuff said. :)

I've seen a bit of the US version - the first episodes I didn't like so much, it got better when they really detached themselves from the UK version. And boy, Stuart, Vince and Nathan are so much better than Brian, Michael and Justin. You have no idea. Not just for the accents (though it does play a part... Irish for Stuart, Manchester for Vince and Nathan... yum).

Squeed for you alright. The whole of the first season is commented! It's unbelievable. Which means more accent goodness, too. ;)

Really though, the US version, I felt, was able to broach wider topics than the UK did, since they had whole big seasons and all. *And* they gave us Ethan. Never been able to see Fab Fillipo the same way again after his entrance.

Take care, you'll get me seriously ranting here. I'm actually restraining myself. ;)
