The day that was the day...

Yesterday was absolutely brilliant. I went and accompanied the French exchange guys on their trip to Manchester. And first off, those teachers (and the bus driver) rock. One of them, JJ (not Abrams...) reminds me of my uncle (on my mother's side, and the one I like) physically and has the exact same laugh as Antoine, it was so weird. So each time he laughed I felt a pang of "missing Antoine but enjoying the sound all the same." And he also crushes on actors' voices! I'm not alone anymore. We had a talk about VF versus VO (for you lucky not-French people, VF is the bane of my existence in France - the dubbed French Version of movies and TV shows and stuff) and how important the original voice was (among other reasons to prefer VO).
We went to the Lowry, a museum mostly dedicated to Lowry, a Mancunian painter. I don't like what he does at all, but there was also an exhibition of photographs dealing with the Depression in America, much better. After that we went to the Imperial War Museum and it started off brilliantly when a guide showed us many different objects from WWI and told us about them all. It made it much more "alive", much more real. But then the exhibitions themselves were rather conventional and disappointing. Oh well.
Also, they've got a couple of plays I really wanna see at the Royal Exchange, I'll definitely go and see Antony and Cleopatra and Elektra. Probably matinees on Saturdays so I can get back to Grappenhall easily. I need to ask around and find out whether anyone else is interested in going.
Yeah, yesterday was quite brilliant. The bus driver actually gave me a lift home afterwards, I had my own private coach, better than a limo! ;) But without the champagne. Oh well. I can't wait for Thursday evening, dinner with them all and sis will be here! Wheee! I need to get at least JJ's e-mail address and keep in contact.
All right, I need to go and eat. I'm so not catching up on all my e-mail today... *woebegone look*
