Back from the States!

Alright. First off, a few special huzzah!'s for Massachussets, San Francisco, and all those places
who are on the bandwagon of gay marriage. You guys rock!!
I'm back from my little trip to Boston where I could get some quality time (and cookies) with Joey.
Getting into the States wasn't as hard as people make it out to be. You've just gotta smile to the
customs officer, answer their oh-so-stupid questions (of course I plan to overthrow the
government while I'm there), and there ya go. Seeing Jo was amazing, even though way too short,
but still, yipee! I love our box.
Sin made his debut in a live rpg at Frederic's. I'm glad to announce he was much better at it than
Damien. He even won a duel on his own! I love this guy. I haven't written anything for maybe a
couple of weeks now and that's when you realise how completely addicted to writing you are. I
need to write! Will be back to Nancy (and Kaylee, my beloved laptop) on Monday. I'm pondering
over how to get Grégoire (Sin's lover whom Damien killed in the 1940s) into the sequel to
Cahots, 'cause I just love those two guys so much.
Am also planning on finishing Out of Memory and Time rather quickly, if possible - it's a big "Kate and Faith get stranded in Middle Earth" fic. Am hoping it will be much better than any of my previous works. It's a big story about love, basically, in all possible forms. Those two women who were thrown into this together, and who are trying to find their place in Middle Earth. Not an easy task. Four chapters out of six are written. Once I'm done with that, I'll probably have to go back to Tapping, my big BtVS/HP crossover.
Oh, and biiiig recommendation. Warchild by Karin Lowachee. This book is a-ma-zing. It's a sci-fi novel, about this kid called Jos who gets trapped in this war, between different loyalties... I truly think it's one of the best sci-fi novels I've read ever. The characters' psychology is incredible, so very well thought out. Jos is striving to become his own man, as we read about him through the years. The novel boldly starts out with a second-person narrator, a genius streak to emphasise the youth of six-year-old Jos, before switching to first person as he matures. There's nothing I could say that would be true to the genius of this novel. Just, go read it already. You won't regret it.
Now, what I'm ever so sad I don't regret is the news that Angel got cancelled. I'm sorry, Joss. You're my god and all, but I really think Angel should stop now. I really expected so much out of this season - hell, you had Spike. And then you even had Lindsey. And both of them got Angelled - a term Joey and I came up with for the way AtS could make interesting characters lose their essence. It had happened to Angel and Cordy, now it's happened to Spike and Linds. You guys are trying, but there's something desperately missing in all this. I don't know what. It just isn't working for me. At all. I'd rather see you work on the Firefly film or on Ripper, really. Oh yes, please do. Now, Firefly was a major work of art, and Ripper has so much potential. We're all dying for some good ASH sightage... and maybe a cameo by Robin Sachs? (hint, hint!)
Ah, I should stop ranting for now. Will probably be going to see Peter Pan in bloody stupid French later tonight (why the hell don't we get it in English!!!). Just be glad I wrote this entry before and not after, 'cause I'll probably spend the evening mulling over how terrible Jason's voice was. I *love* his real voice. You really shouldn't have the right to dub a guy like him. (See? Ranting about it already, and I haven't even heard the catastrophe yet.)
Kudos to Power Animal!!

Finish line
Date: 2004-04-22 11:22 am (UTC)Massachusetts : Unless hell breaks loose, first to give out same-sex civil marriage licenses recognized by the state on May 17, without huge screw-up but simply a Supreme Judicial Court ruling.
Oregon : First same-sex civil marriage licenses recognized legally by a State - a handful of same-sex couples are definitely and official legally married in Oregon right now. Court, will recognizing licenses already given out, also halted issuing of licenses, up to Legislature now to decide whether they'll move towards equality or discrimination.
Sorry, couldn't help it, makes me smile.
WHO WILL WIN THE BATTLE OF SAME-SEX MARRIAGE AND FINALLY END DISCRIMINATION IN THEIR STATE??
My bet's on California.
(Cookies rock. Really, they do. As does wearing a gay flag as a skirt.)
