I have just watched The Unquiet Dead, the third episode of this season's Doctor Who. I hadn't seen it yet. And dammit! The few plot points I had for my "let's take the TARDIS team down into the Paris catacombs" would now just seem like me doing a vague rip-off of that episode. I must now find other ideas - I won't give up - and am rather annoyed.
That said, it was a good episode. I love Simon Callow. And witnessing the early stages of the Doctor/Rose partnership is really interesting, not to mention seeing all the hints of Nine's manic depression (or however you wanna call it, point is he's non too stable). I only wish Gwyneth hadn't been dead already, to force the Doctor to choose to let her die, but that's just me being a sadistic bitca.
But - because there's a but - I feel that it's not as well written, nor acted, as some later episodes. Probably because the show was still trying to find its footing. It doesn't delve as much into some issues as it should, I feel. But it's expected, that early on, it's probably only because I watch it now, after having seen (almost) everything else, that I find it lacking in that respect.
Now I only have to get my hands on The Long Game and I'll have (finally!) seen the whole of it. It's quite insane how much I love this show.
Now, a stupid little meme gakked from the adorable

List ten fictional figures you would have sex with, then tag five friends.
I would most definitely have sex with Captain Jack (Doctor Who). Not because I'm in lust over John Barrowman, no. I'm actually not that attracted to him on a purely physical level (which must make me some kind of freak, considering the fangirl response he's had). But because sex with Jack must be something alright, when you give it a thought. Because he's had quite a bit of experience, and I'm sure he's a very giving lover, not at all selfish. And because we would both view it as a fun, playful moment, but nothing more. There'd be an agreement on what it means, and what it doesn't. (Yes, ok, I'm probably giving too much thought to a meme like this. Bear with me.)
I'd have sex with Shane (the L-Word). Because... well, do I even need to explain? She's Shane.
I'd have sex with Tony Almeida (24). Because given the devotion he shows his job, if he shows the same devotion to other aspects of his life... yum.
I'd have sex with Arwen (Lord of the Rings). I know, I'm surprising myself too with this one. But well, Liv Tyler makes a decidedly beautiful Arwen, absolutely lovely, and... I wanna say Arwen is the next best thing to her brothers, but that would be belittling her. I completely blame
cgwriting for this. It's because of the way she portrayed her in Without. She made me love the character of Arwen. So if she happened to be a bit too lonely when Aragorn and she were apart, prior to the wedding? I wouldn't mind giving her a hand, so to speak.
I'd have sex with Luka Kovac (ER). Come on - the accent, the voice, the looks, and his character? I'm only human.
I'd have sex with Peter (The Talented Mr Ripley) if he weren't so very gay (among other non-too-pratical things, like "not real"). He's wonderfully played by Jack Davenport, giving him a noble sort of kindness, with a faith in life and people despite an edge of cynicism... He won me over.
I'd have sex with Nikolas S'tlian (Warchild and other novels by Karin Lowachee). That character simply fascinates me. And his tatoos. And the whole of him. Fascinating truly is the word. 'Sides, I can well imagine him being as skilled at making love as he is at fighting (although he wasn't trained as a geisha, but I'm desperately not attracted to Yuri, for all that I love him).
I'd have sex with Inara (Firefly). Just look at her. Plus, Companion. I'd love nothing better than to check out the skills taught at their Academy.
I'd have sex with Sawyer. Not so much because I'm attracted to him - I am, admittedly, but truly not that much, I tend to love him as a character more than anything else - as because, well, Sawyer has to be an experience. Of the rough kind. I'm all for experiences. *smirks*
And finally, I'l have sex with Kirill (the Bourne Supremacy). Who is the Russian agent played by Karl Urban. I'm still reeling from, well, the sight of him. Oh, and that voice of his, but the voice already fascinated me back with Eomer and I didn't want to jump his bones for it. No, with Kirill it's more than just the voice. It's the way he handles himself, and probably also the waves of pure testosterone he gives off. He's magnetic or something (kinda like Sayid in Lost, except not the same tone in that magnetism... I understand myself, which is the most important I suppose).
See how I'm limiting myself to ten? There are others, but if I had to restrain myself to ten? (Ha! Should I remind myself they're fictional characters, and even if they weren't... no, let's not. FantasyLand is good.) Those would be the ten. 'Cause they're diverse enough, and diversity is good.
Just like Anna, I'm not tagging. But do do it if you want to! I'm curious to see who you'd all choose.

Date: 2005-07-12 08:43 am (UTC)Luka Kovak? Oh, God, yes. Please, yes. I used to watch ER when I lived in Canada and my husband was always giving me narrow glances over the moaning and drooling. Then, a while ago, I heard he'd gone missing in Africa or something and I had to find the ep where Carter went searching for him and I almost cried like 4 times until the end when he was found and WAH.

Date: 2005-07-12 09:33 am (UTC)I discovered the wonders of Luka back in Canada! It was back when I spent a few months in Kingston that the new season with him started. I was horrified when I came back to France and later heard the voice they'd given him.
And that episode is wonderful in so many (heartbreaking) ways. *remembers Luka speaking French* *gets weak in the knees*

Date: 2005-07-14 03:11 am (UTC)Oh, you have to see Bourne Supremacy, if only for Karl (and Marton Csokas, if you're into LotR actors). He's just amazing. *shamelessly lusts after him*
