Just wondering, do you have the list of the rest of the cast? A quick Google of David Tennant plus Much Ado didn't yield anything and I was wondering...
I've just missed hearing actors act Shakespeare so much. Reading it on your own just doesn't compare. I need to look into productions in English this year, there are bound to be some in Paris.
Benedick - some Scottish fellow Beatrice - Samantha Spiro Leonato - David Swift Don Pedro - David Westhead Don John - Julian Rhind-Tutt (heh, he's in "Green Wing") Hero - Emilia Fox Maragret - Maxine Peake Borachio - Stephen Critchlow Claudio - Chitwetel Ejiofor Conrade - Jonathan Keeble Dogberry - David Haig Ursula - Helen Ayres Antonio/Sexton - Sean Baker Friar Francis - Dermot Crowley Verges - Peter Gunn Various bods - David Thorpe/Philip Joseph/Jordan Calvert
Music composed & performed by Simon Oakes and Adam Wolters. Directed & adapted for radio by Sally Avens.
There should be a production on somewhere. I should go to the theatre some time, the ones here are supposed to be quite good.
Benedick - some Scottish fellow Heh. He's not too good either, is he? Not even sure he's Scottish, it sounds like a fake accent to me! Who's the fraud?
Seriously though, it's so very lovely to hear him with his accent, and in this role. I adore Benedick.
Funny how I keep knowing those actors from small roles here or there. Hmm - Chiwetel Ejiofor as in Serenity's Chiwetel Ejiofor? *squees*
I went and saw Anthony and Cleopatra when they put it up at the Royal Exchange, but I was rather disappointed. Their Cleopatra wasn't up to the task for me, she failed to fascinate me as such a character ought to, imo.

Scottish? Sounds more like a cockney to me. Ridiculous foreign accents :D (He is very good in it, I will say. Lovely natural delivery.)
Chiwetel Ejiofor as in Serenity's Chiwetel Ejiofor? *squees*
I guess so! I think he was in "Neverwhere" too, but I haven't seen him.
When-I-get-money, I will look into going to the theatre more. I'm sure a couple of good productions come up here.
Oh, I saw the 1999 film version of MSND the other day and it was bland and pretty throughout except for an extraordinary moment near the end. Sam Rockwell, playing Thisbe's mourning speech, suddenyl drops the squeaky voice, takes off the wig and acts the hell out of it, completely seriously. It was the most intense and well-acted scene in the whole film and very daring in the context of such a bland production. I wonder why they did that?
Shakespeare adaptations lover that I am, I've heard such bad things about that film that I never actively tried to see it. But now, if only for that scene, you've made me sort of curious...
Have you seen Stage Beauty? Not a Shakespeare adaptation per se, but a very good film with amazing actors, a wonderful script, and Shakespeare love all right. One of my favourite films of all times, which is saying a lot.
