yahtzee63)
Rescue Me
The Gay's Everywhere (Sean/Franco)
Questions about those...
My favorite story of this year: The Gay's Everywhere. It's not the best one, far from it, and I think it's unlikely I'll ever write any more RM fic, but it just... it's everything I love about those two characters, plus it's me portraying a particular brand of bisexuality, something I'd never really dug into with before, and I dunno. It's sort of special to me.
My best story this year: probably Silk. I'm still a bit thrown by how much of a response I got on it, but mostly I know that the thing just clicked together, the first draft. I had to change a few things to make it fit canon better, and I added a scene I think, and I don't know, it just... all felt right. I never expected people to like it all that much, though, I thought it'd very much be a 'me' thing.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Closure. Flist of mine, did you not like it at all? I know it's just a tiny little drabble of a thing, but at least one comment would've been nice? /end whine
Most fun story: Something Humped With the Verse, definitely. I adore Jayne to bits, and he's simply too much fun to write.
Most sexy story: You know, it's actually probably Silk. Even though there is no smut in it. Because it might be only hinted at, left unsaid, but... yeah. The twins. And silk.
Story with the single sexiest moment: The Gay's Everywhere, when Franco slams Sean into the wall. Yes, it's a (fic) kink of mine.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Er... I don't see what I wrote that could be seen as "wrong, even for me." The hints at twincest in Silk won't really surprise anybody that knows me, so...
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Players, maybe. There were several ways I could have had it play out, but I ended up choosing this one because it was the most interesting, and explored a side to Shannon and Sawyer I'd never really given much thought before.
Hardest story to write: The Gift. It shows, I just wasn't... yeah. That's why it half-sucks. I had to force my muses.
Biggest Disappointment: Being blocked on Same Caliber, Different Make, which I partly blame on this season of Alias. Honestly.
Biggest Surprise: The Gay's Everywhere, of course. I didn't even know Rescue Me before this summer.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Is any of my stories that telling? Or at least telling any more than I meant it to? If so, let me know. I'd be interested in knowing.
This meme actually makes me think I haven't written nearly enough. ...okay, that's not true. It's just that what with my refusal to post anything I'm not done writing and happy with? I've written a lot of stuff that still haven't been published, and some of which will likely never be.
And finally, gakked from
houses7177, a recap of my year.
January: Just a very quick entry, one last one while I'm in France. As I was, of course, on the verge of heading back out to England and a very sparodic LJ access, and had been fortunate enough to spend NYE with the lovely, lovely BR guys here in Paris.
February: The day that was the day... Yesterday was absolutely brilliant. That was because I'd just accompanied the French exchange trip guys to Manchester, and I absolutely adore those people and it reminds me that I should write to JJ. One of the teachers. It was a brilliant day indeed. *beams* And the "the day that was the day" bit was likely me being obsessed with Carnivàle.
March: Post-Joey entry. I could say that I feel terrible for not posting while greenie_breizh was here but I would be lying. This meme is doing a good job at summing up what England was like. Missing France, having a great time over there, and being happy to see Joey when she visited.
April: This is goodbye. I was about to fly back to England, yet again, after the end of Easter break.
May: What Would Joss Do? Heh. My report of the Serenity convention, which is definitely one of the highlights of this year. Which reminds me that I need to have a "WWWD" bracelet done for myself (What Would Wash Do, obviously), and also that I really want to make it to either Serenity Cubed or Serenity whatever-you-say-for-times-four.
June: Quote of the day: I think I don't have food but then I go to the supermarket and I think "I don't need that, I don't need that," but then I come back home and I don't have any food. Quotes like that make me want to call her my sugar-muffin. Anyway. I was obviously back from England, and all moved in with Joey.
July: Cry for help - Does anybody know anything about WEP? The hazards of being an Apple kind of person. Because then you buy computer stuff that say they work with Macs, when in fact when they say "compatible" they mean "will cause your Mac to bug." Which is a very thin line, granted. Anyway. That was me fighting with that stupid WiFi key.
August: I'm back! Had a nice little holiday in Brittany, despite overall pretty crappy weather. And it was a very nice holiday. I like spending time with my parents.
September: "I make the offering." BERSERK! Oh dear gods Berserk. I love Berserk, and I feel like I haven't ranted about it in far too long. Berserk is an amazing manga, people. Go read it now! It's got everything. I need to check whether any more's been translated. Griffith owns my soul. And Judeau, too. *clings to Judeau* And there is such tragedy and angst, guys. It hurts so good.
October: Icons: A Knight's Tale, Serenity Which, you know, is very telling as to what movies I OMFG ADORE. And what actor I'm obsessed with, too.Not that he's the only one I'm obsessed with in those films. Heee.
November: First, because technically I'm not late yet, as it is far from midnight where you are, happy birthday khylarenelf! *facepalm* I am so absent-minded. Says a lot about me, that does.
December: ""Try to say that five times fast." "Babbling, bumbling bunch of baboons..." Twins goodness! That was my HP4 rant, obviously. Aw. Fred, George, sweethearts, pumpkins... I'm still on a high that they got as much screen time as they deserved, at last.
