"Get some rest, Pam. You look tired."

Decided against watching some West Wing, as that might just lead to tears. Went for The Bourne Supremacy instead, because Karl-Urban-(and-Marton-Csokas-)lust is much less with the sadness. Are they doing a third film after all? Also watched Alias's latest. One Michael Vaughn definitely doesn't carry an episode half as well as a certain Sark, but truth be told I wasn't as bored and/or annoyed as I was afraid I might be. Probably mostly because I expected JJ to actually bring him back, and because what it really sounded like, beyond the whole "Sydney can you please go drop dead you're boring!" feel, was that they were telling the Vaughn die-hard fans to suck it up and let him go. Which, yeah, please let him go. Please. That said, this episode really didn't hold much of my interest. Grace was married? Watch me care, not. Jack was brilliant, absolutely brilliant, as Jack as he ever was, and I like the idea of him and Renée working together, they make a good team. Although the whole nursery thing was very predictable, and I was slightly disappointed that he just had her kill off the Bauchau character when really they could have maybe got more out of him. Also because I love Bauchau, but that disappointment was eclipsed by the fact that IRINA! Please don't keep screwing her up in a not-so-good way, you writer-type people. Am very much looking forward to the Kelly/Irina interaction, as well as maybe - because I'll never stop hoping - some Irina/Sark collaboration and/or confrontation at some point. Pretty please.
Finally, a meme gakked from I have no clue who... probably many of you.
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
...played the ice cube game. (Which, for those of you who aren't privy to it, is all about passing an ice cube around from mouth to mouth. Snogging ensues.)
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
*wonders* Did I have any? So, I guess that if I did, and kept them, it was unwillingly. And I don't think I'll make any, no.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Well, I lived in England for half the year. And I visited Ireland.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
An internet connection at home, which I do have now but had to make do without for a good part of the year.
7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Not so much dates - because I'm bad with dates - as days. The last day at Lymm High. The evening we had dinner with our sixth form students. The weekend of the Serenity con. The Serenity premiere in Deauville.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Preparing our sixth-form students for their A-levels best as I could. Helping making the dubbed version of Serenity not that bad. Winning NaNo.
9. What was your biggest failure?
See, this here is me putting barriers up and not replying.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really, no. Must've had a cold or ten, but nothing worth mentioning.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
DVDs. As always. Heh.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
The Browncoats, and the BDH. Everybody that's fought to make things change in a positive light. Not so much me.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Last one is Bill O'Reilly, for leading a boycot against shops that say "happy holidays" instead of "merry Christmas." Seriously. But the list is long, and probably starts with W.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Outside of rent, food, all the basics? DVDs, flights, evenings out.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Serenity!! And a list of other things. Very long. Veeeeery long.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
"I wanna see Serenity" by Dan Sehane. Yes I'm obsessed shut up.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? I honestly couldn't say. I was already pretty happy last year.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner - according to my mum and grandmother. I couldn't say, I don't weigh myself and... I just don't know.
c) richer or poorer? I'm probably richer, but money's going away fast. I need a job.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Partying in Canal Street. Writing. Reading. Reading. Reading.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Arguing.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Hoping that my grandfather and absolute top favourite I love him!! uncle don't start talking politics and spouting homophobic/racist/etc nonsense because if that's the case, I don't know if I can shut up much longer.
21. What was your favorite month of 2005?
May.
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
I was already in love.
23. How many one-night stands?
See above.
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Hmm. Doctor Who, maybe? I suck at picking favourites. I have too many.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't do hate.
26. What was the best book you read?
Cagebird, by Karin Lowachee (thanks for the heads-up on the typo,
heikki_cheren! *facepalm*). The third instalment in that universe, after Warchild and Burndive. While I hadn't liked Burndive as much as the first one, this one was oh so good in all the right ways. Despite a definite lack of Jos and Niko, which is saying a lot.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Rufus Wainwright, which I only vaguely knew. David Gray. Starsailor. Turin Brakes.
28. What did you want and get?
To live with Jo.
29. What did you want and not get?
The Doctor Who DVDs. Man, they're expensive.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Serenity!! ...okay, that might not actually be true. I honestly don't know. Again with being awful at picking favourites.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
22. We had a party in Reims. Yay!
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Signing up for a second year at Lymm High.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
My style lesbianed itself up, on the whole. And I'm getting into hats a lot.
34. What kept you sane?
Writing. And the internet. And fictions. Though they really probably made me more insane, too. It's a very delicate balance.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm. Just the one? I have to pick just one?Paul Bettany. Impossible.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Gay rights, as always.
37. Who did you miss?
Joey, for part of the year. And after that, everybody in England. Most of all Klem and Stuart.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My cousin Christophe. Thank the gods for my dad's side of the family. Or possibly Christophe from the MAG. Or JJ from the French exchange. Hmm.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
There are no limits to my insanity.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
In Summercamp's Play it by ear: "I’m defined by everything that I know/And I’m tempted by the rest"
