I'm proud to announce Willow and Haldir's son has a name. Haldir is however not quite happy with said name, but Willow didn't leave him much of a choice and pulled off the Resolved Face, saying, I quote, "Nobody's gonna *know* what it means, you stubborn Elvish ass!"

I give you... Maelamarthen. Mael, really. Haldir still won't talk to Willow. But she likes Mael, and so do the Scoobs. Sorry, Hal.

Now, I need to see the end of Angel and get to the planning of that last fic. 'Cause yes, people, I got spoiled about the character I wanted to insert in that fic. I didn't think he'd show up on Angel again, I only wanted to find out whether he existed out of that show or if Joss had created him just for it. *sigh* Anyway. I think I'm doomed. I'll be spoiled, and spoiled, and then spoiled some more. It's what keeps happening.

Watched Jaynestown last night, I wanted to have myself some more Adam Baldwin goodness. Most people don't like that ep, but I do. It's not the best of them all, but it's great to see this side of Jayne. "Don't make no sense." Besides, I love the River/Book interaction.

*grin* Actually, she named him fated lust. Or did I screw this up and does the adjective not go after the name in Sindarin?

Anyway. It was either something shortening to Mael, or to Gael (or probably Gail) - but Haldir's reaction to Mael made me unable to resist. Poor, poor Elf. 'Sides, I like Mael. Means devotee in Irish. It suits the kid, Sindarin meaning aside.

lol, don't worry love, I don't plan to call any of our kids anything like that. Well, I wouldn't mind calling them Mael, actually, but I don't think either of us would think 'lust' each time we called him. 'Sides, Benn or Aidan are much better.

That being said, fated lust, it's where the kid comes from. And Willow's big with the wicca these days, I'll get into that in the fic. But granted, she wouldn't have called him that in Arda where everybody would have understood his name.

I have said / thought many disturbing things in my short life - especially as far as you are concerned - but I have to say it doesn't come anywhere near thinking about lust when calling one of my kids. I suppose in some circumstances I could be calling the kid, then thinking of you, then lust comes, but stil. Disturbing thought.
It's just rambling, btw, to lead to the already known conclusion that indeed, Benn & Aidan are better names.

That said, I like Maelle/Mael has a name in Breton. Meeep it's not on the Behind the names website, but it totally exist in Breton and I'm curious to see what it means. Oooooh apparently it means chief, prince, princess. Well, slightly better than lust I suppose :-p

Do you know that Aidan means flame? I'm growing over my "eep! but it's the name of a character of mine!" phase. So we might have to choose between Benn and Aidan after all. Or Aidan can also work for a girl.

And yeah, I've always loved the name Mael. I like all *ael names, really. And on BtN, it says it means devotee, in Irish. Something else that makes me wanna call him that.

I just need to sit down and work out the plot of that fic - which I can't do until I've seen the Angel finale. *grumbles* Then I can choose between Mael or Gail (or Gale or Gael).

Wheee!! I love the name Aidan, and yes, I knew it meant Fire. Ahhh babies babies babies. Sorry. Me need sleep and sweet dreams wheee. I think it's fine about the fic, maybe you could open a study book in the meanwhile :-p
