I have been looking out for "Another Country" for years, ever since I saw it as an impressionable teen and became aware of how two boys were prettier than one. However I have always been on holiday etc when it's been on and Channel bloody Four haven't shown it for ages, although they show 'A Room With A View' every five minutes.

They should pay Rupert millions to redo all the Sherlock Holmes stories so he can drawl through them.

"Another Country" is a British film from about 1984 about sixth-form boarding schoolboy Rupert who decides to become a Communist because of the hypocrisy (sort of). All the other boys do it furtively, but he is in love with Cary Elwes (as in' The Princess Bride') while his straight friend Colin Firth makes political remarks on the side.

It's a lot less political or smutty than that sounds, more about poetic shots of cricket matches and stroking hair in punts. Plus Rupes murmurs "There's a little hollow at the base of his throat - I want to pour honey in it and lick it all off", which pretty much killed me at fifteen.

Of course I did just, honey. The point of this whole thing was to culminate on this very post. (And the worst is... this has not actually been influenced by you-know-what. All those men that also happen to be...? I shamelessly lusted after them far before.)

Jason and Taye as well? *giggles* I didn't know we shared that many lust interests, the list just keeps growing. Hmm, Jason's hands. I have a thing for that man's hands.

And you know, Jude wasn't even supposed to be in the top five, just like Adrien, but the more I looked at pictures of them and the more I just had to put them higher up than I originally intended. James was totally supposed to be five, probably because I'd just gone James-picture-hunting the day I started making this list, and Adam Busch took a severe beating from his original place in the top five. Aaaanyway. It's really the first four that I had trouble ordering. No, actually, Paul was always going to be one. It's 2, 3 and 4 that gave me a hard time. Ngh. See why I needed your help? Not that you could have provided much, apparently. :p

And you know, about Jude, the reason why I could not settle on one picture? Is because, precisely, so many different aspects of his personality come through in all those photo shoots. Mostly I ended up hesitating between disaffected here, gleeful, and enticing. I stared and stared and stared at pics and finally chose this one because I love it as a photograph, you know, not just because of how drop-dead gorgeous he looks.

As for the picture of Paul - how hard I love it. I had the toughest time settling on one, until I came across this one. It was like - yes, this one. Because Paul pictures, while absolutely GAH, do not even actually reflect everything I love about him. You need to see him in action for that. (No, not in action... though I don't mind that at all either.) But this picture, it's just - those pants, and the shirt, and the look on his face, and the picture itself! I was so annoyed that I had to crop it. I really didn't want to. It's so very amazing and, yeah. I would get married to this picture.

Yes, Taye as well... I love him from his days as an original cast member from RENT. Mrowl. Jason I'm not attracted to physically so much as I simply and completely adore the man and his films. Now I have an urge to go out and rent the whole View Askew library. *g*

Yeah, I really wouldn't have been able to help, not at all. Sorry. Heh. As is, I'm just sort of sitting here enjoying the afterglow. Though putting Paul as number one is... rocky. It's the sort of thing that half my brain is like, "Yes, of course, obviously, the man is like fire and water combined omg!" and the other half feels like it's forgetting someone else. Hm. No idea who, though. Very confusing. Also, now I'm looking at this list and going 'what about ___?' *g* It's possible I might have to do a supplimentary picspam. (Also, shamefully, I cannot say that I loved them all before, you know. Julie will tell you I was woefully ignorant on one particular front.)

That's one of the reasons I love Jude, though, his ability to look so different in everything he's photographed in. I feel like so much of Paul is the same expression. Jude is very... you know. EVERYWHERE. Such an amazing actor. And it *is* a cool photograph, that distinctiveness helps as well.

FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS the strife of cutting this photo down to size. *celebrates!* You really need the bed in the background, too, because it completely changes the meaning of the expression on his face. Hee. I just love everything about it. I want to know what he's thinking. I want to know what the photographers told him to get him to look like that; that sort of half-hesitent, muscles bunched, about to get up posture, and the look on his face, and just... ghasgdfdtd. *flails*

I first lusted after Taye in Ally McBeal. Hmm. And then Equilibrium really didn't help. As for Jason - it's his voice, and his speech delivery, and his hands. And I want to find Mallrats, goddammit!

Oh, please do a supplementary picspam. I keep thinking of people I should have put in, now, that totally deserved it, but... gods, 100 really isn't enough. (Meanwhile, I only have about 50 girls down. I'm gonna have to work on this!) But Paul totally deserves #1. It's my own personal list, after all, and... yeah.

Jude is so very talented. I think Judith sort of started to make me forget that, actually, because I started seeing only the gorgeous witty fascinating scrumptious insufferable man. But doing this, going through the pictures, thinking of all the movies I've loved him in... yeah. I never was as impressed with his versatility (although I already was a LOT before) as when I saw the Road to Perdition (blah, Hanks, blah), because he actually looks repulsive in it, and that's a hell of a performance on his part.

And anyway, yeah, Paul is less different in his photoshoots, but acting-wise, much as I love and admire Jude, Paul comes out on top. (Er... you know.) It's his eyes and his voice. Yep. Jude has broken me as well in some of his performances, yes, but Paul is just... Paul. Paul breaks me like nobody else, even Jude.

Huh. Three of the five actors of my top five have made me break down and sob in front of a screen. I guess that says a lot about me. (And as far as statistics go, I like that four of the top ten are out of Knight.)

OF COURSE I UNDERSTAND. And yes, I couldn't cut out the bed, and it was a shame to crop down what little I did. The shapes, and the contrast, and... he looks so undecisive, like he doesn't really know what to do or what's going on and... gah. There is not one thing I like best about this picture.

Bon, c'est bien parce que je t'adore, je ne t'en veux pas. ;) Non, sérieusement, plein de monde ne le trouve pas beau, mais moi... *insert very long silence during which she lists the things she would like to do to/with him* ...et je sais que je ne suis pas la seule non plus. Je le pensais déjà avant, mais là en cherchant des photos de lui, plus j'en voyais plus je me disais que ouais, quand même.

Jonathan Wilkes c'est le meilleur pote à Robbie Williams. Regarder le concert de swing de ce cher Robbie fut un plaisir, mais quelle ne fut pas ma surprise quand ce type arrive pour un duo avec lui, et que je me retrouve à luster après lui plus qu'après Robbie. (Et en plus ces deux-là ont une certaine alchimie... sur laquelle ils jouent beaucoup d'ailleurs. Heeee.)
