Yes, I'm obsessed. So sue me. I was checking out the IMDb quotes, and look here, a deleted scene.
Mr. Darcy: My dear...
Elizabeth Bennet: No, no, no. "My dear" is what my father calls my mother when he's cross.
Mr. Darcy: And what am I to call you when I'm cross? "Mrs. Darcy?"
Elizabeth Bennet: No, you may only call me "Mrs. Darcy" when you're extremely and incandescently happy.
Mr. Darcy: And how are you this evening, Mrs. Darcy?
[kisses Elizabeth's forehead]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[kisses her cheek]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[kisses her nose]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[kisses her other cheek]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs...
[His voice, a whisper, fades out, and he draws Elizabeth closer to him as she leans in and he kisses her]
Which reminds me to say a word about the end. I liked that it didn't focus on Elizabeth and Darcy, but that we went straight from Mr. Bennet to the credits. That said, I also quite like the idea of watching this little scene, here, as I can imagine it only too wellandhmmmatthew, and I think it would actually fit rather well after the credits. To keep the movie from ending on the traditional image of the weddings, but still have it follow the tradition... after a fashion, so to speak. It just seems like such a love little scene.
Also, because I forgot in the last post - still in the "your hands are cold" scene, I adore how he stumbles on the three big words, and that only third time's the charm. "You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love... I love... I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on." Which, god, you have to be good to sell lines like these. And he is. Extremely good.
Am now off to try and dig up my Requiem for a Dream CD, as this whole strings love is making me itch for it.

Date: 2006-01-22 12:40 pm (UTC)Oh God, yes. So good. Can't be said enough times.
I watched the last episode of the BBC version last week, and Colin Firth just doesn't do it for me. Not that he ever did. But now it's ten times worse. I kept comparing their portrayals, their acting
and their yumnessand Firth kept coming short.no subject

(What do you mean at least they produce fictions that question their governments? So do we! ...not. At all. Ever. And our president is a crook, and hardly any better. Dammit!)
