fan_eluneSeries ranting time! Lost, The L-Word, and Veronica Mars. But first, a few lines about Lord of War. I don't think I will ever truly enjoy Nicholas Cage, but I genuinely went into that movie thinking that that might have changed, as it has rather been a while. And, well, I still can't enjoy Nicholas Cage. And the script was incredibly heavy-handed and could have used a bit more subtlety. So in the end, I'm not crazy about it, but I'll say this much about it: those supporting actors, oh wow. Eamonn Walker, whose performance made me think of Triple A's in Oz', and that was just so amazing to see. 'Said' playing 'Adebisi.' This guy is good. Also Jared, while his performance was nothing extraordinary, was ever so pretty. Which is not to be dismissed.
And, for some reason, Ethan Hawke. I really didn't expect to be taken in by him, but - yeah. There was something about his character and the way he portrayed him. Such a righteous cop, and just - there was this sort of simplicity, of not-over-the-top-ness to his performance, that worked so well. Kudos, Ethan.
Lost
First off, did I ever rant about the Eko episode? Let's sum it very quickly: EKO I LOVE YOU ADEWALE YOU ARE SUCH AN AMAZING ACTOR. And also, Charlie, you're threatening to become interesting again, take care!
And, of course, my own two cents about the computer-smoke: mostly I'm wondering if it's a coincidence that the only two men that faced it are the two men of faith, who were so clearly put in opposition as to their faiths a few episodes ago (plus, black and white, we're back to backgammon). Can they face their past thanks to their faith? And why could Locke not face it the second time round, what did he see in it that made him suddenly afraid? Maybe he wasn't as okay with 'sacrificing' Boone as he thought he was? I can only use conjectures. In any case, fantastic scene.
Then, The Hunting Party. Watch me roll, roll, roll my eyes at Kate. Watch me try and shove Jack and Sawyer together. Watch me cheer when Jack is an asshole to Kate. Watch me resign myself to the fact that it means Sawyer will likely get Kate. Watch me encourage Jack to go for Analucia instead, because if he can't have the Southern bad boy type he might as well go for the bad girl Latina type.
Intriguing first real glance at the others, and I'm bound to point out that they're still holding back on what Alex looks like. Can't be bothered to cast anybody yet? Also, wondering whether they've got Desmond. I miss Desmond. Yeah, I know he was barely there, but I liked him for what little we saw of him.And he's begging to be slashed. And does that mean we're not gonna see Mike for forever?
Also. I always liked Sun, but I LOATHE emotional blackmail. Mike's his friend. I mean yeah, okay, he did tell her what to do for what, four years, and she hated every second of it and, precisely! It's wrong! That's not the way to go! So why are you doing it back to him in return? I mean, okay, I get it, and I sympathise with her fears. But... there is something very touching and strong about the friendship between Jin and Michael. And personally, I wouldn't have got in the way of it.
And finally - how do they expect to form an army without the others realising? Just curious.
And finally finally - FOXY. YOU KILL ME. What is it with your eyes being so expressive? You're too intense, man.
The L-Word
All right, so. Less with the awful than the premiere, but still. You know. Plus, Bette was back to being a judgemental ass, and I can't stand that. But - because there's actually another but than 'omgshaneissohotandmoiraaa*combusts*' - ALAN CUMMING! Ahem.
Alan Cumming was in 302 and 303 and I adore this man. Very badly. He's just so very camp. Can you do camper than him? Plus, the accent.
There was also a very unexpected guest star in 303, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, who some of you may remember as Freddy Iverson, the Sunnydale High newspaper editor, in Buffy. (Think 'Earshot'.) And who I have picked to play one of my characters in NaNo, a male Companion who I am entirely too fascinated with given he is one of my creations. (Nope, not Pygmalion stage just yet.)
And I can't wait to see more of him. Such a cutie, that boy is.
Veronica Mars
Which reminds me that I need to do myself a VM icon, preferably Keith or Logan. Preferably Logan.
All right, so I'm not as taken with that show as I was with Buffy. Definitely not as taken with it as, say, Joss is. But I enjoy it, and some characters have just earned their spot in my heart. First and foremost, Logan, who just keeps killing me on a regular basis, but also Weavil, Keith, Wallace, Meg (veeeery cheap character turn-around in S2, I find), Leo (such a cutie, I felt awful for him), Wallace's mother whose name I can never remember, Mac (Mac! you rock, girl), and even Veronica at times.
Even though I can't really forgive her for the way she kept treating Logan at the end of S1. And god, Logan was just - there for her. And he kept taking it. Logan.
Duncan, I have my moments. And boy, did the beard look good on him. He was actually attractive. Most of the time he's just cute.
Random, but Kevin Smith's cameo was so small! Disappointment! But, he played a clerk, so, fun. *snerk* I love Mr. Kevin Smith. And cannot wait for Clerks 2, go check the trailer already.
Did I mention I adored Keith Mars?
And Logan, did I mention Logan?
I have very mixed feelings about this season so far, but I'm totally giving it a chance. If only because I couldn't possibly give up before Joss's cameo, but also because I wouldn't give up as long as Logan and Keith and the other above-mentioned are still around.
And Jason - is he called Jason? Jason Dohring? That's what I wanna say. - is an amazing actor. His hands. He keeps doing things. It's amazing. I'm utterly fascinated. Logan makes me like a high school jackass. Honestly.
Oh, and the whole killer thing? Good one. Especially since, well, I adore what they did with Aaron because it was never clichéd. He beat Logan, but then he beat the shit out of that guy who beat 'Alyson' (I'll never remember her name, no, probably because I'm sorry Aly but you can't actually really act, can you? you did not sell the elder bitchy sister act at all), and then he was really trying to be a good dad. Okay, so I have my reservations on the whole scene with Veronica and the fire and Keith, because that was overly psychotic, I found. It's the same problem I had with the season finale of Nip/Tuck, the line between Completely Fucking Twisted and Completely Fucking Insane. Except for him it wasn't even that, I felt. It's not that he was insane, or even that twisted, it's that he was so fucking selfish, and thought the world was there to revolve around him. And I felt that confrontation scene lacked that.
All right, we're off to eat, so probably to watch another ep while doing that. Am consequently cutting the rant short.
If you haven't written me a letter from a character or another yet, shame on you! And go do it now. Pretty please? You have no excuses. Go! And those of you who have? I LOVE YOU.

Enfin bref, après les lecteurs non-multizones ne peuvent à la base lire qu'une seule zone, et donc faut faire gaffe. Après, il arrive qu'il y ait des différences entre les éditions, vu qu'elles ont rarement les mêmes dates de sortie, du genre bonus différents (ou même parfois - plus rarement - des versions différentes du film quand il y a des changements entre les versions sorties en salle, ça arrive).
