Yes, I'm spamming the flist. Sorry. Or not. Just - Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar from Babylon 5) died on Monday. He was absolutely amazing on Babylon 5, and G'Kar was such a figure of wisdom. Inspiring. I don't know anything about the man, but I know what he made me see in his character.

G'Quon wrote, "There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain."

Listen to him. (Let me know if it runs out of DLs, I'll reupload it.)

"I don't know anything about the man
(if I remember correctly from my B5 period and what I read/hear back then, he was really a great man)

I wouldn't be surprised if he had been a great man. He seems to have a good internet following, and that's a good sign. Besides, I don't wanna think that the man who played G'Kar was not great. Because.

It's difficult to realize a guy you watched on TV for five years, every weeks, and that you've liked muchly for ten years, is now gone.
Especially since he wasn't that old. He wasn't even 60 yet, so it wasn't really expected.

It leaves an empty space...

Apparently he'd been fighting cancer for a while. Maybe it's best for him to go at last. If he was in pain, I mean.

Yeah, I saw on his official site that they mentionned a "long illness". And I saw almost first-hand was cancer can lead to toward the end. Sometimes it's kind of a relief when they finally let go, when there's no more that can be done and the pain can't be fought.
It's still young when you have much to offer, though. saloperie de cancer.
