"Careful. That's harassment, sir."

At some point I might've had something to say about the latest Desperate Housewives, except now it's all been wiped away by Torchwood oh dear god. And I was afraid to hate it. Granted, I don't adore every single thing about it, but. BUT.
- The coat. The coat in itself might have got me through those episodes even if I hadn't liked the rest of it.
- Ianto. For some reason, I really like Ianto, and am apparently not alone in thinking he is asexual. I might just be overreading things, but, whatever.
- The whole team discussing Jack. Because that's what you do, you gossip about the boss.
- The fact that Indira's name was in the credits of 1x01. Also, the credits.
- A Tale of Two Cities! Go Toshiko! (However, putting that on the same level as the Glove and the Semi-Rape Perfume? Let's not.)
- Jack is not sure what happened to Torchwood Four and I can only be reminded of a certain Babylon station. Am I the only one? TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE.
- JackjackjackjackJACK.
Okay, let's go into the things I didn't like before we go back to Jack.
- Indira, where have all your acting skills gone? Woe! Also, why are you dead, you're so beautiful and you actually can act. Which I would have loved to see happen in further episodes. Besides, that whole making-her-evil thing didn't sit right with me. Too easy, I felt. In the meantime, Owen's actions know no consequences.
- Also, so RTD could pull off Joss's wish of having been able to put Eric Balfour in the credits of his pilot with Indira, but did he then fall into the exact same trap of having his characters forget all about her? Jesse was not mentioned once in the rest of the seven seasons of BtVS. And apparently Torchwood doesn't care much about the fact that their former second in command turned homicidal and then suicidal.
- Owen midly annoys me. I love him, sometimes, but also deeply despises him at others.
- Possibly I love him because we share Gwen dislike. I cannot stand her, I'm sorry. No, it's not true. I have nothing against her personally, I just don't see what she's doing there. And I swear if you give us Jack/Gwen I will curse your name, Russell. I who have always supported youeven through the smelliest cheese of DW S2 will curse. Your. Name. Gwen does not fit in this task force. What is she bringing them? Unless there is more to be revealed later on, that they (or at least Jack) know about, in which case, alright. In the meantime, she will still annoy the hell out of me.
- Back on the subject of Owen. He really puzzles me. RTD can be extremely good at creating spiteful characters, the type we love to hate. Look at Lisa in QaF, or Bob's best mate in Bob & Rose. However, I'm not at all getting that vibe from Owen. He simply seems to be hateable. Despite having some good lines. I'm just. Confused.
Now, the moment we've all been waiting for, Jack. Or, actually, Jack and how Torchwood fits in the Who mythology.
- The coat. Which I think needs to be mentioned again. And again, and again. Just because, the coat.
- Just for the record, if Jack brought his fingers to his lips after Gwen kissed him? It was because it reminded him of his last Rose and Nine kisses.
- I love that Jack doesn't fit. I love how much of an Angel Jack is. I've seen the comparison pop up all over my flist and it is so true. Jack has that wonderful coat, and looks over the city, and wishes he could live a normal life.
- Jack is so much darker than we used to know him, and it makes sense. Jack was left behind on the game station by the two people he had stopped being a coward for. Two people he loved incredibly. And he was gifted with this curse called life. I want to read fiction after fiction about him discovering that he cannot die. I want to read about how he was elated at first, and it soon started to weigh in on him. I want to read about how long it's been since the game station. I want to read about the different stages of emotion he feels for Rose and the Doctor. I want to read so. much about Jack. I want to hold him. And never let go. I wish I had it in me to write him.I wish I had it in me to NaNo him.
- This, in turn, makes me very afraid that I will be disappointed by the inevitable DW/TW crossover we are bound to have at some point, right? Jack's going to be back in S3, right? Right?
- I love how his desire to see the Doctor again borders on an obsession. The way he got about the hand - oh, god. He must know that the Doctor has regenerated, too. I would be greatly disappointed in one Captain Jack if he hadn't paid great attention to Nine's hands. Who are quite peculiar. Anyway! The point is, hand! Not normal, and probably actually creepy by more normal standards, but. It kills me to think that he cherishes that hand so much. This guy is longing for the Doctor.
- The mention of the perception filter due to the chameleon circuit blabbity blabbity blah made me squee like a squeeful thing.

yahtzee63 pointed out, rightly, that Jack's invulnerability means he is "the bisexual Wolverine. And the world is past ready for a bisexual Wolverine." Word. I'm sure Gambit agrees. Oh god I just pictured Gambit and Jack meeting. It would be like Stuart and Jack meeting. Could the world withstand such sexual power concentrated in the one spot?
So much more to say. There's quite a few things I didn't like in those episodes, but also so much I did like. I'm definitely not disappointed. I want more. More more more. I want to find out so much about Jack and what he's been through. I should probably start reading my Captain Jack fanfic comms again, just to get my hands on good fiction. I need fiction about this.Since I'm not NaNoing it, no I'm not.
...you guys. I really sort of want to NaNo this.
