1. Please Robert to come back to life and direct more movies. (Aka I've finally just seen A Prairie Home Companion ('The Last Show' in French - don't ask).)

2. How amazing was the Rome season premiere? Oh, my god. Octavian manipulating his mother so easily? I can't actually wait for Simon Woods. Attia being Attia, and Anthony being Anthony - oh god how I love Anthony, in all of his carnality, if that's a word. And if it isn't, it should be, and it should apply to what makes him him. Servilia being as omfg as ever. Brutus being so righteous and not wanting to spill blood that did not have to. Cicero being Cicero, so very opportunistic and not exactly good at it. And, of course, oh my, Vorenus and Pullo, how much you own me both. And while my lust is die-hard on Kevin McKidd, it's Pullo who owns my heart. And their friendship, god, I don't even want to slash them! Which is saying a lot. This whole show owns me. Gods.

3. I can't figure out if I want to see Cashback or not. On the plus side, Sean Biggerstaff = cutie, and the trailer looks very intriguing. On the minus side, I have no clue if Sean can act, and the trailer is slightly off-putting.

4. I was not blown away by Marc Warren's Dracula. Joss knows I adore that actor, but I just wasn't. Sorry. I liked him much better as Teatime.

5. My Shakespeare exam is on Thursday. This is a perfectly legitimate reason to watch Shakespeare Retold: A Waste of Shame instead of start studying at last.

6. I now know the story behind the "Amour"s. And I half wish I didn't. If you still want the story, links are here.

7. Season premiere of The L-Word? Shane is still hot, what a surprise. Max is still hot, what a surprise. Jenny's still a bitch, and a pain, what a surprise. ...the actual surprise, for those of you who've seen it, was oh so very welcome. Hee! So beautiful. (Bonus points for featuring Peter Wingfield, too.)

8. Amando - my new MacBook - is running perfectly. He makes me happy. And he is so pretty!

9. [livejournal.com profile] queenspanky is coming to Paris in March. This is making me squee in delight! *squees*

You saw APHC? Cool! (I'm a Minnesotan, and Lily Tomlin actually does a better job getting the Central Minnesotan accent than does Meryl Streep.) We actually know some of the local folk that are in the film. (Remember the guy backstage in the cowboy hat and the long mustache? We know him; he's Pop Wagner, and he studied art in Paris before becoming a cowboy singer and rope-trick artist. His most famous song is "The French Impressionist Two-Step".)

Oh god, really? Amazing. As always, Altman knows just how to fascinate me, get me caring. Now I want to see the movie again just to pay attention to Pop Wagner and the difference between Lily Tomlin's and Meryl Streep's accent. Okay, and the thousand other things I have yet to notice because it's an Altman movie and those always need to be watched again and again and again. Heee!

I downloaded Cashback from iTunes last year - it wasn't bad, but it def. wasn't as good as the hype had made me expect. But then again, I'm not really a genius about short film, so... I don't know.

Though, I wasn't blown away by Marc Warren's Dracula, either. AND I LOVED HIM AS TEATIME, though I know nothing about the canon. We've been watching all the same stuff, XD.

As for Rome, I have nothing to say except I LOOOVE IT.

...is it a short? Because they don't usually show trailers for shorts at the theatre. Mhmm. Okay, no, so there is a short, and now they've made an actual film out of it.

Heee! Much as Death didn't live up to canon - how could he - Teatime was just BRILLIANT. Such a brilliant performance. Hee. Why am I not surprised.

When I reread what I wrote, I realise that I really have nothing to say except I LOOOVE IT either. It just took me a whole lot more words to say that.

Ah, wow! Well, huh. I'm sort of intrigued to see how they would've made it longer. *ponders*

As for Rome, I initially babbled for quite a while, but it all comes down to LOVE. :D

I'm sad that there was no Carmen though!

Oh L Word, I'm so glad your sexy bitchy ass is back. <3

I never really warmed up to Carmen much. At all. So I'm not much with the sad, sorry. I'm more of a Shane girl. And Alice, when they're not screwing up her character, and Max.

I'm way more of a Shane girl. That's one of the only reasons I watch the show, really. ;sldakfj a;dlskf ja;ds l Oh, Katherine Moennig, my first tv girlcrush. :D:D

But I am shallow, and thus, have a huge crush on Carmen. :P

The whole of my love for that show is shallow, so I won't be lecturing you there. My shallowness simply doesn't take me Carmen's way. :p

What is this Shakespeare retold that you speak of?

The Beeb seems to call it Shakespeare Retold: A Waste of Shame, but for IMDb it's A Waste of Shame: The Mystery of Shakespeare and his Sonners (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0491232/). William Boyd looked at his sonnets and imagined the Dark Lady and went for one of the usual suspects for that boy he keeps addressing. It's worth watching, although I wasn't taken away by it, personally.

...That was a "and his Sonnets," not "and his Sonners", obviously. *glares at typoing fingers*

Now we have a male MacBook... It's funny, I can't see them as males. But Amando really is a nice name. And I think I want a female name for my future PC, so let's mix genders !

L Word is back ? Can't wait to get all the episodes from L word, Desperate housewives and Lost on Eko. And there's a lot that I missed, since Charlie couldn't play movies properly anymore.

Btw, where does the quote from the title comes from ?

Rome.

As as for Amando - Amando is a very pretty boy Companion I use in Firefly RPs and have, occasionally, written. Okay so 'occasionally' means 'in my NaNo'. My point? Is that he's absolutely deserving of getting a MacBook named after him. He's pretty that way.

The L-Word is back. I need to check when DH is back, although Lost I'm not too eager for. Meh. I want Heroes and Studio 60 though! Pretty badly.

Marc Warren didn't blow me away, but I was thrilled to see a version of Dracula that wasn't ripped to shreds by the screenwriter (case in point: the Gary Oldman version where Mina and Dracula's souls are connected in love throughout all of time... which is something that never once appeared in the novel). I just like seeing the BBC appreciate literature instead of ripping it apart! :D

Did you see Ruby in the Smoke yet? Very cute, and Billie Piper is excellent in it!

*hides eyes from Rome spoilers* Since I pay for HBO, I'm going to be a good girl and wait until Sunday night!

Ah, see, we're just going to disagree here. First off, I don't think very highly of Bram Stoker's writing skills. Second off, I loved Coppola's version. Dracula is the sort of story that has been shot again and again, always taking a different turn depending on the period it's shot in. It's a reflection of its age. And the Coppola version was that, on top of being amazingly shot.

That said, I much preferred the guy who played John (I will one day remember his name - Casanova Jr!) to Marc Warren. He was the good surprise of the movie.

No I haven't! "Very cute"? I'm not sure I want to now. :p Is it the Victorian looking thing? I saw it go by but didn't DL.

Oooh, good girl. And enjoy when it comes!

re: 7: Hell yes.

I also liked the scene wherein lawyer whatshername finally puts an end to Bette and Tina's endless wailing. Phew.

ps. Your subject line makes me want to give Rome a try...
ps (2). Hi, I'm k., amateur writer and professional-film-music-composer-in-training. In case I haven't introduced myself before. :)

Oh I LOVE that lawyer. She almost makes me cackle with delight. Hee.

ps. You absolutely should and for more than just my subject line it is BRILLIANT.
ps (2). I don't think you had, actually, but I don't mind strangers on my flist! I was wondering how you got there, though. Anyway, it's nice to officially meet. I'm Fan', amateur writer when the muses deign to strike again and hopefully soon to be professional-translator-in-training. Which is much less interesting than film music composer. I sort of want to ask you to ramble at me about that.

ps. Aye aye, captain!
ps (2). Good, then (I think it was through random interest-searching/friends-of-flist-perusing). Also, I doubt that it is any less interesting; I have a great admiration for translators (how would the fireworks of international fame come to writers, if not for them, huh). And not to worry, I will definitely ramble about films, music and film music in the future. :)
