John Simm doesn't do a thing for me. I swear. I love him so frelling hard, but he just doesn't.

Except, apparently, when he's dressed in that sort of shirt and vest and running around the TARDIS being evil and generally wonderful, because then my womb sort of pokes at me and goes "YOU KNOW WE WANT TO HAVE THIS GUY'S BABIES, RIGHT?" and I'm forced to acknowledge that it is the complete and utter truth.

I love that the whole preview is of him him him him HIM. Oh god. The Master. And he was both Derek Jacobi and John Simm. How cool is that? How awesome was this episode? Oh, Russel, thank you. Thank you thank you thank you.

Now I'm expecting so much out of next week. *SQUEES*

...I think I want a Master-as-John-Simm icon.

It was pretty damn awesome. I was doing "I. Am. The. Master." karaoke. I was all *geekgasm* in front of the parents.

Oh, god, his delivery of that line? Insane. I'm just so, so psyched that they'd have picked him to play the Master, on top of Simm, it's just... perfect. Just damn perfect.

This episode was perfection on so many levels. I've already rewatched it twice and I'm still not tired of it.

Did you like the Jack stuff?

I'm very torn on the Jack stuff. Like I don't know how to react to it because there are too many things to take into account. Jack's stay on Torchwood, the darker him that we have seen there, the fact that Who remains first and foremost a children's show... I understand that he cannot be as dark in Who, and in a way it's easy to justify that the lighter Captain Jack Harkness is brought on by the Doctor's presence, but on the other hand I wish they would deal with all this more properly. At the same time, who knows, Jack might actually decide to go back to Cardiff, we have yet to see the end. I don't know. There were so many squeeish Jack moments, honestly, and yet some bits felt fake, like the Doctor telling him to stop each time he said hello to someone, it's fun, yes, ha ha, can we move on now, you know? Besides it was a Nine thing, it just felt weird. But I squeed so hard each time he came on to someone, especially Blue, or when he said fantastic! I don't know. I'm very confused. As this hell of a long paragraph shows.

There was some good, there was some could-be-better. But in the end, there was no bad, so I suppose I did like it?

I'm fanwanking the lighter, happy Jack as, I dunno, just that he finally found the man he's been pursuing for over a hundred years. Like, remember that look of just absolute JOY on his face when he heard the TARDIS back on Torchwood? Maybe he's kind of blinded by that, and also the fact that he's completely, blindly in love with the Doctor. Which makes people forgive a lot of things they probably shouldn't.

I'm really hoping this isn't the last of the Doctor and Jack talking about their many issues. We've still got two more episodes!

Well, yes, see, I remember that look, it was so breathtaking, but at the same time? He just learned that said man had abandoned him. And I realise that he is in love and might be in love with the bastard side of the Doctor, but precisely, I want them to discuss all this more. Parts of their dialogue sounded so much like ex lovers, and I don't even ship them in a sort of physical manner. I like my Doctor single because he can't give enough of a shit about anybody, in the end. Anyway.

Two more episodes, yes. I so hope we will get more of all this. And I'm very scared of how Jack will find himself back with Torchwood. My fangirlish heart is all a-flutter.

I still wanna smack him for doing that to the TW guys, though. Especially Ianto.

If they leave just this episode as all the Doctor and Jack discuss about this stuff, I will be very disappointed. But, for now, I'll just *gulp* trust RTD.

Me too! Ianto would just pop up in my thoughts randomly, and I'd to try to forget about him so I wouldn't start yelling at Jack. It's interesting that when Jack returns to Torchwood, he'll (hopefully?) end up on the other side of the current relationship problems he's having. I still stick by my theory that Ianto is to Jack as Jack is to the Doctor, and Rose is to the Doctor as Jack is to Ianto. Um, if that makes sense.

I have only heard of John Simm before last night but hadn't experienced the magic. It takes one hell of a man to make me pay attention to them when John Barrowman is around and John Simm is that man.

Exactly! By the time the episode ended, I was flailing and squeeing like the insane fangirl I really am, and the very surprising bit was that it had nothing to do with JB, and everything to do with the other John. I just. Yes. You'll see. He's amazing.

"Why don't we stop and have a nice little chat while I tell you all my plans and you can work out a way to stop me. I DON'T think!"

I MUST HAVE WATCHED THAT SCENE A DOZEN TIMES!

The music in the episode was amazing as well - going from diegetic (drums, sounds of the electronic equipment) to extra-diegetic in the same cue, very effective.

I also loved that moment when Ten was shrugging of his trench coat, readying to fix Yana's footprint-doodaddy, and Jack just naturally took his coat as he shed it, while Ten just starts a little at the gesture. There's definitely something going on there.
