Been a while since I last updated. Not much happening here that bears telling. I
don't have a clue what I last babbled about, and it's not like I can check my LJ
from here. Did I mention I hated these filters? Now, let me put everything
behind a cut so as not to overwhelm anyone.

Have been able to use MSN messenger lately due to the computer room I'm
in being closed to pupils for a couple of days, and it's enabled me to have a
bit of online chatting with Jo (did me a world of good, especially since it was
The Day), and also [livejournal.com profile] cgwriting who proceeded to send me the latest of
what she'd written on PtD, to my greatest pleasure. Hopefully it'll make it all
right to my laptop, I downloaded it directly to my USB key so there's a chance
the filters won't have messed with the files. I miss my regular dose of good
fanfiction, but on the bright side it means I'm reading more published fiction.
Pratchett's Jingo is one of my favourites of his, methinks, and I've now
plunged myself into Feist's Faerie Tale, which I thought I knew quite
well but which predictably turns out to be even better in English (my father's
copy, which I read times and times again, is in French). It also makes me
realise how less erotic my Icelandic story is gonna be, even though dealing
with the Hidden People as well. Different interpretations of the same sort of
myths, I suppose. I've been thinking about completely remodelling said
icelandic story, given that one of the strengths of this Feist novel is its
roots in every-day life. I'll have to think about it some more.

Cinnie and I chatted about the difficulty of writing original fiction, among
other things. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one finding it ever so taxing.
I'm still not happy with the first few chapters of my Twins fantasy story.
Writing original is so different from writing fanfic because you put yourself
on the line much more, you have to win your audience from scratch. I keep
questioning every one of my decisions and angsting over how to introduce what
and who. Exhausting. I think it's why I spend more time working on my
HL/Firefly/Carnivale fic (which I' sure will soon acquire a title, right?), or
my Alias fic (a part of which is gonna be crossed with Spooks, I couldn't
resist, now I just don't know what season of Spooks I wanna cross it with).
Writing fanfic is a holiday compared to writing original.

Went to a t'ai chi class the other night, it was... overwhelming, I'll have to
say. I'm the only newbie, all the others have been doing it for a while, so I'm
really kinda lost, but I wanna stick around and manage it. Only problem is it's
quite expensive. I'll see. But it really interests me and I wanna be able to
progress in that direction. The people there are quite nice and helpful, and
they really don't make you feel self-conscious about having trouble keeping up.

Bonfire night tonight, maybe we'll go to Warrington see some fireworks, I don't
know. In any case, tomorrow Julia and I are going to see Finding Neverland. I
need myself some Johnny to make me believe in Neverland and forget about the
US. Blah. Plus, Johnny trying to sound Scottish is bound to be either amusing
or endearing. Probably both. And then, Kate Winslet.

MY mother and I took a Tai Chi class one summer when I was home from college and loved it.

Good to see you amongst the LJ living!

Not so much the LJ living as the LJ comatose that sometimes emerges from said coma. :)

And I love tai chi (how many different spellings are there, I wonder?). I wish I had a bigger room at home to practice, 'cause doing so in the kitchen you share with 5 other people is hardly ideal.

I miss youuuuu ! It's good to have some news : with you in Paris, Tia in St Etienne, and Jade without internet, I feel alone now :'( I wish I were on msn to chat with you and catch up some time.
Can't wait to see Finding Neverlands :))
