Yes, I'm going crazy while I can upload without tearing my hair out in frustration at Free (my host). And so, I have just changed layout for my LJ. Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] yodah who did the screencap used in the layout last night, out of the goodness of his heart. I love Shane and Mark, I think the writers are doing a great job with both their characters. The exact, complete quote is "You can do anything, you lucky bastard, you're alive! What's a little pain compared to that?"

I was about to say where it was from, but I wonder whether any of you will know. It's not too hard... if you've seen it. (Hint: it is absolutely not from the L-word.) The winner can request a drabble out of me.

I've also changed mood themes, replaced the old one by a Boy Meets Boy one.

Just a quick word to say that I've finally watched episode 11 of Doctor Who, and it rocks. Captain Jack is a wonderful addition to the crew of the Tardis, and you've got some priceless dialogue in there. Captain of the Innuendo Squad, indeed. (Such hard work...) I'm really quite amazed at the themes they tackle in this so-called children's show. If you'd told me, after I first watched Queer As Folk and saw Vince hooked up to Doctor Who, that I would one day become a fan... But I'm such a geek. The conclusion was foretold.

The quote comes from not that deep under the ground, in a land where young women cars are green and drowned wifes leave a Dr Pepper bottle in their car and a baby girl behind.

Though I still have to see this ep.

Ah, Dr Pepper.........

Anyway, congrats, want a drabble? I'm already gonna be doing a River/Jayne for Yod'. (No, that slash doesn't mean as a pairing.)

If you haven't seen it, did you just google the quote? 'Cause that would be cheating. ;)

Yeah. I seem to recall it was a dramatic scene and all, but I was all thrilled: "Hey! She was drinking some Dr Pepper!!! Wow!". It kinda ruined the effect, really. O;-)

Hmmm... Nobody ever made a drabble for me. I would have to think about whom it should be. Non-shipper me will have to ponder hard on that, it's not that easy. ;-)

Ah... Well... The eps are on tape and ready to bee seen for weeks, I wouldn't have had to cheat a bitget some help if I hadn't have two or three lives going on at the same time since a few weeks. *cringes at the thought of next weekend, and just wish to crash in bed after last -very very short- night*

Oh, a drabble doesn't have to have a ship. Yod'ah's drabble, for instance, has Firefly as a fandom, Jayne and River as characters, and a branch of Christmas tree as requisite. No pairing in this whatsoever. Just name the fandom(s?), character(s?), and if you want anything else you wanna see in it, should it be a thing, a quote, a feeling, a style, an overall mood...

But keep it feasible, aye? Yod'ah started by asking for some Kaylee/Sawyer, which I would have loved being able to write, but crossing Lost and Firefly in the space of a drabble? Not very doable.

Hey can I get a drabble too ? :p Pretty please ? What do I have to do ? :p

Cause I have a great idea ! :)

lol. You would have had to guess where the quote in my layout is from. But I feel generous, come on, what's the idea? I'll see what I can do, since I can't write Manu's for the moment. *bangs her head against the wall, again*

That's so mean for the wall. It didn't do anything wrong. Poor lil' thing. Stop hitting it!

I would have said McQueen, from "Space Above and Beyond", with something related to his search of his humand side, but it's a bit (ok, more than a bit) too old.

So, hoping it's not a spoiler, Azarcon and Jos. And more precisely, Azarcon and Jos shortly after Yuri came aboard.

Can you believe that with, well, England and life, I got distracted to the point of forgetting about Cage Bird? So yeah, I just went and ordered it. I feel so angry at myself. *sigh*

So can you remind me after I read the book?

I can't believe myself. Seriously.

And I wish about Space Above and Beyond, but indeed, far too long since I saw it, and only in French anyway. But I loved him too.

I wish I had a "I hate myself" icon.

Well, it's ok, it's not as if I had hinted at it a few times until mid-march, yanno? Oh, wait... I did. And then I, like, made other hints at it recently in my LJ. Several times. I even spelled out the whole title in the comments. And that was all aimed at one person. :-P
I know, I know, I should have rather jumped in front of your window waving and holding a giant sign, but I couldn't find any black pen to draw the sign.... ;-P
Ordering it was a good idea. It's twice as expensive in the bookstores here. I know. I went there in a hurry on a sunday afternoon after having discovered it had been released. And I came back without the book.

Yeah. For a moment, I hesitated about asking a scene set after McQueen learning about the fate of his crew (and, well, this way, we would finally have gotten the answer too :-P) because that part would have been easier, but... No, even if I can't pinpoint it anymore (and I couldn't find any DVDs two weeks ago), there was definitely things to explore concerning his humanity.
Gah. I just loved McQueen.

You mean the second time he does? And hmm, not sure I'm up to the challenge, but I could always try. I'd need to reread some bits of Warchild before though, now that I'm just done reading Cagebird and rereading Burndive.

Yeah, this time. And I suspected it was a hard one. ;-)
(it's not like we're given many clues anyway)

Otherwise... Right now, I can't think of anything else.

D'you know how Karin feels about fanfiction?
And, yeah. Don't hold your breath, this will probably take some time.

I have no idea. I can ask her this summer when I will see her, if you wish. Some plot bunnies dug their holes in your brain already? ;-)

From: [identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com
Not really, no... A Jos/Azarcon drabble wouldn't need much of a plot anyway, it'd mostly be characterisation and interaction I suppose. (Maybe I'll manage to fit Erret in one way or the other, though... *smirks* Even for just a cameo.)

It's just, for some reason, I feel very shy about "borrowing" her characters, and daring to write them myself. I don't know why, because for all other 'verses it doesn't bother me at all and I only see it as a proof of love of the 'verse or those characters or something. But with her characters? Maybe because I'm so in awe of the job she's done, I don't think I could do them justice. Or something.

From: [identity profile] heikki-cheren.livejournal.com
I meant, plot bunnies for a longer story. I thought the fanfiction question might be linked to that.

Hmm... How many times did you write stories about characters who were from a book, not a film/serie? Apart from the LotR ones, which are so integrated in our minds for so long, and who got highly influenced by the movie ones anyway? HP too got influenced by the movie...
I would think that using characters you only meet in a book would be quite different. That's for the general part. And more specifically, her characters are so fleshed out, the caracterization so well done, that it's even more difficult and intimidating.
But then, hmm... It's not as if I really used to borrow characters, so what would I know? :-P OC, that's my thing. The rest, I know I'm not good at it.

(OT: When I'm on such a page as http://www.livejournal.com/users/fan_elune/53734.html?thread=279014 , there's something wrong with your layout, on IE. All the stuff supposed to be on the right side are located *below* the comment. Nothing really important, but it's weird. Probably a LJ bug, though)

No no no. Just writing a drabble makes me wonder whether she'd be ok with that. I wouldn't dare write anything with an actual plot, not with her stuff. Unless the plot revolved around an OC of mine and her characters were just peripheral, maybe, but let's not get into that.

And I think it's not only that. It's those books in particular. I can see myself writing literary characters like Alec and Seregil, for instance. Or guys from Fionavar. But her characters? Maybe also because I feel some sort of kinship with her, because her books are exactly what I so very much wish I could write, because she's a new writer, I don't know. The quality of the writing certainly plays a part, too. But I just don't wanna do this if she doesn't want other people to write her characters. So yeah, let me know? Thanks. (And enjoy that meeting, too, you lucky you.)

Hmm, indeed, same bug here. Weird. Oh well.

Yeah, there's something special about them. And her. I can see it. Feel it. Hell, I even wrote a "you" short fic because of Warchild. And finally wrote my first english fic after having read Cagebird... (and there's a second one waiting).

I'll ask her, if I can. And, well, for the meeting... I already spent two weeks at her place anyway. :-P Ah, if I had known back then...
Actually, she was locked in her room most of the time, working on her computer. Since the release of Warchild, I can't help wondering when exactly she wrote it.

She's just too damned good.

Er, well, the "you" one (which is actually "tu", because I hadn't yet felt the urge to write in English, or maybe just didn't dare), you already read some time ago. ;-)
This one was real short.

The english one has been displayed on my LJ recently, and is now on www.fanfictions.net. Of course, as usual, it's not very long. And there's a whole background behind it that doesn't appear much (in fact, there's a longer fic planned for months, and this one was just a related scene that popped up and asked to be written in English. The same thing happened with a HP fic, except I haven't finished writing the English version).

Yeah, she is. And not too famous yet, which is nice sometimes. Shorter queues for autographs.... (I've been told the ones for Pratchett are hours-long)

I'll go read it one of these days then.

lol, good point. But I don't know, see, it's not so much an autograph or anything I would like with her. My dream is to like, go have some coffee or something, and just talk. And talk. And then talk some more. Because she must be so very interesting to talk to. *snaps back to reality* Yeah, anyway. That's my little daydream with her.

Hee. One more thing which is easier to achieve when you're a close friend of Big Sister. You're naturally introduced. ^^

Now, having things to say might help too. One point for you. *eg*
I'm afraid I might forget all about Warchild and just display the signs of my Inuits, Sames, Mongols and Other Interesting Autochton People little obsession, and mostly discuss her experience up there.

I couldn't find back the recent birthday offer, only this very old one.

I finally got a loosy an idea... Spock/Data, one explaining to the other why he wants to me more (or less, according from who is talking) human.

Permission granted to switch one of the character to another from a different fandom who would fit the role. ^_^

Mm, yes, I think I'll change Spock to somebody else, because I haven't seen either TOS or TNG in years but I still have a passable chance at pulling off Data, whereas probably not Spock. *adds to the list of drabbles to do*
