And now let's do this for original fiction, in case anyone's interested.

Very quickly, just to let you guys know: I ordered the tickets for Serenity.
Woohoo! We'll be going, people. We being [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh, [livejournal.com profile] the_swordman and [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren. And me, of course. And I
hope to see grimma there (sorry, not sure about your exact username anymore).
Announced guests so far are Alan, Jewel, Morena, Summer and Nathan. Again, I
have to say, woohoo!

For very quick news of me: still making icons like mad (must be a substitute for
something...), only have one last chapter to go on the Steve episode for Gaia,
and I've finally managed to read Billy's Best Devil thanks to the clever help
of [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren! I'll probably be rereading it a few times
alright. It's angsty in just the right way, and the end is absolutely perfect.
I'm looking forward to the next part. A lot. (And it must be unhealthy for me
to enjoy RPS so much. Except it's so much more than RPS.) And to share the
cleverness that allowed me to get it: if you want to send me something, zip it
first. That way the filters can't read what's in it and pick up words they
don't want me to come in contact with. We shall prevail!

While speaking of humans vs. machines, Nick Stahl is much better in Carnivale
than in T3, no matter that he acts with the lovely Claire (much better in say,
My So-Called Life anyway). What did I expect?

Alright, so updating my LJ from my freesbee address is a bad idea. I'm making a
note of that. To add to the following entry-that-should-have-made-it-on-Friday,
let me just add that the weekend went great. I had Jo on the phone, Fred came
over, and all sorts of goodness were had. On a less happy note, the Warrington
Borough Council's inability to pay us on time made Etienne and me lose 40
bloody pounds. How frelling fair is that? At least we got paid. Okay, now with
the entry:

Alright, so all of you who had been writing to me on my free address? Stop.
There's no point. Or very little chance that there is a point. The bloody
filters have been upgraded and I can now get to about 10% of the e-mail I get
on the free addie, and that's me being optimistic here. So if you can write to
me on freesbee instead? The address is the same as my wanadoo, except it's at
freesbee dot fr

I'm getting more and more frustrated with each passing day here, those filters
are getting ridiculous. I hate that we're on the same level as the pupils for
the computers and that we don't have access to more things. *sigh* Yesterday I
tried to check the site of an organisation against racism because that's one of
the topics the kids are working on, and it was banned! Can I know exactly what
was offensive in a site promoting the end of hate?

*takes a deep breath* On the writing front, my muses are still being fiddle
right now, so I gave a look to my Icelandic story and my Fab story. I should
force them back onto the Firefly crossover, the Alias fic or the Gaia episode,
really. (Update: this weekend saw me writing the whole of section 3 (out of 5)
of the Steve ep.)

On the real life front, I came out to Marlene, our landlady. I thought she'd got
it 'cause I often said "my girlfriend", but she hadn't. So there. She was
awesome about it. We had a little chat and it was all manners of nice. Yay!
Makes me feel so good. I felt like hugging someone after that last night, and I
had no one to. The funny part is, [livejournal.com profile] the_swordman (and let's hope i got
the tag right this time...), guess what? She thought you and I were an item. By
the way, do you want to maybe come over tomorrow? I'll give you a ring tonight.
I miss ya.

Finally, let me say that I feel very left out. Joey gets to read applications
for when we open up our couple and I don't? Where's the love? Where are the
pledges of lust eternal and sexual fulfillment for ever after, really?

Don't pay attention to me ranting. This internet thing's just bearing down on
me, it's such an ordeal to manage to read [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh's e-mails.
Joss, mate, it's already hard enough to be a sea apart with only e-mails and a
few phone calls. Can we not take the e-mails away? Cheers.
fan_elune: (still flying)
Hopefully this will reach you people, I'm giving another chance to this posting
by e-mail feature, since it's the only way for me to post from here at the
school. As if LJ contained offensive material,
frankly...
This does mean that I haven't yet been able to check you
guys' possible comments, I need to go back to the internet cafe to do that.

Anyway. Just wanted to keep you all updated on how well things are going here.
Saturday was a night out in Manchester with the guys and [livejournal.com profile] the_swordman - nice to see you again, stud, despite the crappiness of
the bar, and we've asked some of the younger teachers here for advice on where
to go, next time'll be better. Lessons are going well, we're all slowly
settling in. I'm happy to report that Etienne (other French assistant) has read
some of my shorter works, both original and fanfiction, and he liked it. Yay! He
keeps badgering me about finishing a novel, though. Rather reminds me of
someone... ;)

On the writing front, I'm a bit stuck on the Firefly crossover, so my muses have
reverted to working for (and this is gonna be making a few happy girls) Steve!
Yes, Gaia's next episode is underway. I've got two fifths of it done. And I
apologise in advance to anyone who might actually know stuff about swing music,
because I'm improvising as I go! I'll have my father proof-read it before I
publish it, though, but swing isn't his area of expertise. And [livejournal.com profile] twixou, rejoice, Ian appears in that episode and his character
is not at all influenced by his role in Lost, nope ma'am
.

I do hope you're all doing all right. Drop me a line on my e-mail if you want me
to get back to you quickly... or just give me some news that, believe me, I'd
love to have.
fan_elune: (still flying)
At last!

Yes, I finally have the opportunity to update. And before I go ranting on about me, me, me, and me, could I ask a favour of you guys? I'm not going to be able to read up on everything I've missed on my Friends page, so if you could just point me to any entry of significant interest and/or importance that you might have posted? Or just tell me very quickly what you've been up to these days?

Now, for my part - here is great. )

Ye gods, the horror! Couldn't I get - no, not about to ask for either Spike or Angel - I don't know, Holden? *sends love to Jonathan Woodward* Or if the gods were in the mood to be gracious, Darla? No, it had to be that guy there. The horror...

Am now a good 4k words into my Icelandic/fairy story. Don't know whether it's good or not. Want to be done with at least the first part before asking, with big puppy eyes and a trembling lower lip, [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh to read it. I expect one more night of writing and that'll be achieved. Yay! Svana, the narrator, is shaping up into a round character, not at all Mary-Sueish, and it makes me fairly happy. However, since she is a child in that first part, it's quite easy to keep her off the MS path. I'll need to be very wary when writing the rest of it. Have yet to decide whether said "rest" will be one or two more parts.

Also gave another look at Collion, which I had much abandoned these days, and wrote a small scene for it. I want this fic to be good. I need to go through what I already wrote and rework on it, big time. Wanting to produce quality work is tasking, really, but rather that than publish something-you-could-have-done-better.

Watched Shindig again last night. Atherton is such a jerk, it's delightful. I do wish I could have made him an Immortal too, but alas, his wounds do not quite seem to be healing. Such a shame. It would have been so very amusing to have him and the Serenity crew have to work together if they wanted to survive. I'll have to make do with the other captain from Out of gas.

Now, am off to cook for the lil family.

Update on Kaylee: my father called them this morning, since they still weren't calling him. Seems there was a bit of a mishap and Kaylee got sent to Apple already, without their making a devis for us. The one he had on the phone was like, "oh, you're not under guarantee anymore?" *eyeroll and irritated sigh* We told them we weren't. Anyway. So the good news is that I'll probably (probably) have her back sometimes next week. The bad news is, I don't know how much it'll cost me. If it's a flaw that's on a lot of iBooks, I might not be charged. Otherwise, the first repair price is 300 and then some euros. *chokes* And that's only the first price.

Have finished watching season one of Boomtown. It was excellent up until the end. Special mention to the episode Fearless dealing with child molesters and faith in the view of such atrocities, and to the finale as well. Donnie Wahlberg is an excellent actor. Incredibly good. And as far as interesting faces go, Neal McDonough is my latest crush-that's-not. He portrays a morally ambiguous deputee DA who strives not to be like his father and in so doing becomes more and more like him. Actually, every and all character you see in there is fascinating. That show kicks major arse, people.

Have one episode of Spooks left to watch - and indeed, I'm missing the end of S2. Argh! So far it's been excellent. I especially liked the episode with the drill, that was brilliant, extremely well-acted too. The end was perfect.

Wrote a whole chapter that's supposed to stand in the middle of my Firefly/HL crossover yesterday. It was... hard. And for some reason my Methos-muse is really not cooperating these days, such a pain! I tried to write a short Methos-meets-Illyria fic yesterday (can you just imagine the brilliant dialogue?) except I couldn't write the old man. Thankfully, he didn't appear all that much in the chapter I wrote. And so, yes, chapter wasn't that hard to write, it flowed quite easily, but it's afterwards that it left me feeling rather cranky because of what it was about. Characters should not be able to affect us that much.

Joey arrives on Friday evening, yay! It feels as if I hadn't seen her in ages.

What Type of Villain are You?

mutedfaith.com.

Moriarti, now I can't help picture him like in Young Sherlock Holmes, a fairly entertaining movie with a delightful villain. Oh yes. (Makes me think, yesterday I had a look at a few Jude Law galleries - the word scrumptious came to mind (and I never use that word). I still can't believe how downright ugly he was in Road to Perdition. Guy's a v. good actor.)

Anyway. Wanted to read more OLS, but I put the Mononoke-Hime soundtrack on and it's tickling the muses for my fairy-related original story. Have just spent some time looking for Icelandic names, since the list I'd made is on Kaylee. Hopefully I'll get some of the first scene down tonight (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren, that does mean I'm not writing those K'Immies just yet - I don't want to ignore those muses for fear they ignore me later on). Just those names are enough to tickle my fancy... Lilja, Valdís, Brynjólfur, Hrafn, and so many others.

Hmm, I wonder whether I have what it takes to type those letters the Icelandic use for the two "th" sounds.

Whee!!!

Don't have the time for a long entry about this weekend, I just need to gush. Apparently the Buffy panel [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh and I took part in went even better than we thought, because there was extremely good response later, after we both had to go.

Consequently, Martin Winckler (who was unfortunately unable to attend, but who got told all about it by Antoine) offered us the chance to write an article about what we had said (pretty much "Growing up with BtVS") in his next book on TV shows. I am ecstatic!

/ end gush

I'll try and write an entry tomorrow. And hopefully get up to date with all the fics I haven't read (I'm thinking mostly of [livejournal.com profile] cgwriting's and [livejournal.com profile] houses7177's stuff). Btw, Mihan, I recced your Encore une fois to a friend who is both a Highlander fan and an Illyria one, he adored it - I do think he told me he'd sent feedback, but just in case, I'm telling you again. This fic is absolutely amazing. The depth of emotions and how much it explores, without overstating any of it, far from it... And a perfect use of Immortality. Bravo.

First and foremost:

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] pee_wai!

Then: last day in Iceland, which will hopefully get me much elf-related knowledge. The "Irish" story I had in the making will probably be transferred to Iceland, if I can find enough information and such. The elves I'll depict will be inspired from the myths of both countries anyway.

From tomorrow on to Tuesday, there'll be no internet connection for me. Tuesday will see me back in Reims for just a few days, before I head back to Paris for a convention on TV shows, which [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh and I will take part in. We'll be in a panel discussing Buffy. Yay! Big thanks to Antoine. Hopefully the whole thing will be quite good - and I'll finally get a look at Nip/Tuck.

I've entered a Tertiary PotC Character Ficathon, am anxiously waiting to know what I'll get to write. I also need to finish a Willow/Tara ficlet for [livejournal.com profile] miss_kao and my Wat/Kate is still waiting for me to have a stroke of genius. Not happening any time soon. The life of an author is a hard one... *eye roll* Who am I kidding? I love this.
fan_elune: (wheeee by twixou)
Am back to Rennes with [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh. The good news is, my mailbox didn't explode. The bad news is... there's no bad news, really. Everybody starts arriving tomorrow for the birthday party, yay! Even though there have been last minute cancellations (snif), I cannot wait to see all of you guys who can make it. This will be of the much, much fun. I am looking forward to lots of dancing and quite a bit of cocktail goodness (Nekkid Mal anyone?).

It was good to show Jo around Erquy. Most of it hasn't changed, but it was off-putting to discover that, for example, some of the rocks we had given names to when kids had vanished. The Lac Bleu was still everything but blue, so at least that is constant. I love swimming in the sea, too, when not so much in swimming pools. We bathed even when the weather wasn't great (and it wasn't always, I love Brittany), courageous as we are. Last night my parents, some friends of theirs, Jo, my brother and I went to a very good restaurant called L'Escurial, it was absolutely delicious. Due to some sauce that got spilled on Jo's sweater, we even got offered a glass of serdon, a delicious rosé that's naturally bubbly, from the St Brieuc area... yum. How I do love good wine. (And being seated next to my mother has the advantage of me finishing her glass when she has had enough. She's not half as much of a wine lover as I am.)

Also, great news! My passport got here yesterday, it should arrive in the mail tomorrow. People, I am going to Iceland! We're leaving on the 10th, coming back on the 21st if I'm not mistaken. I can't wait, I'm quite curious about this country.

On the writing front, I haven't got much done. Am still stuck on Chapter Three as far as "Collion" is concerned, I need to get a hold of [livejournal.com profile] cgwriting, since she so kindly agreed to beta'ing it, and start talking it out. However, what with my schedule, that will probably not happen until... phew. Late August? I did get some writing done, all on A Knight's Tale - it turns out my whole family loved the movie, so there were many a viewing of it. (Even the VF. Can I just say, blaaaaaah. Especially for Chaucer.) Anyway. Need to rework on the end of my Wat/Kate fic, since it lacks... something. It's just not good right now. Also wrote a first draft of my Chaucer fic, Jo assured me it wasn't total crap, so... [livejournal.com profile] dragonfare, feel like betaing that too? It's slash. Well, there is no slash action, but... Very much the same concept as that in Listen.

Survey. )

Things are looking decreasingly good about Iceland. I feel a strong urge to resort to all the Farscape curses I know (okay, granted, not all that many, but still). I filed a request for a passport yesterday - they were missing something in the file! But no, they couldn't have told me yesterday, that would have meant my file would have been complete after all. *sigh*

I have very, very little hope left. Thanks, Joss, mate. Sometimes I just plain hate chance.

On the good side, my brother reviewed The tear of a warrior, and a hell of an interesting, challenging review it was.

Spoilers on The tear of a warrior and reflections on writing. )

On another topic altogether, found another scarred man I like - or rather, liked a whole good deal when I was a kid: Captain Harlock! I'm not sure he qualifies, since I'm very much not obsessed with him anymore. But he might have started it all.

Also finished watching Cowboy Bebop. I have to say, I actually liked Ed by the end, which I did not think would happen. She must be quite a lot of fun to write! That show is incredibly good. They have amazing ideas, fascinating, complex characters, and that soundtrack... that soundtrack. (And before any of you remarks that Jet has a scar, yes, I know. And I love his character. But I'm not obsessed with him. Yet. Might come, though. Who knows. We'll see after I write him, if I ever do.)

For some reason, I have a strong urge to do capoeira again. Something that requires physical effort, but also focus. Something physical on which I can concentrate, really, pour myself into and stop being anything but the movement for a while.
fan_elune: (magic words)
Should be working either on that untitled Wat/Kate fic, or on the third part of Crossed Destinies, but cannot bother. This is a muse-free period for me. Damn it. I'm just too tired. Dunno if it's a cold I have, or the allergies being back full force (but if that's the case, I never was that allergic to anything! /whine), but it's a pain. As is getting all the paperwork done in hopes that I'll get my passport in time to go to Iceland - but I seem to be all set now. Let's just cross fingers, people.

So, had fun with icons instead. Let my Stuart-love emerge in a couple of them (some of those shots are just beautiful), and of course one for the wonderful, fearful Puss. Oh, how I wish someone was whacky enough to have him and my favourite pirate Cap'n meet. If only for fun. I think they would work wonderfully together - once you get past the whole "completely different 'verses" problem, that is.

A cry for help! )

Tomorrow will probably be filled with packing. We're going on holiday on Saturday. Erquy, here I come! It's a small town in Brittany, I've been going there each year since I was a wee babe. Except for last year - which makes me feel as if I hadn't been there in forever. Cannot wait to show it all to [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh, the good ol' port, the rocks, the beach, all of it! Will also be seeing Dadou there, yay! (Edouard, for you BR guys who have met him.) He's a very good friend I've met there every summer for a few years.

We'll be back in Rennes on the 5th of August. Won't have the internet in the meantime, so don't worry if you don't hear from me. Despite the Iceland-related stress, things are looking good for the near future. Erquy, then big party time in Rennes. Yay!
fan_elune: (evil laugh)
I don't suppose there's anyone out there that could beta-read an "A Knight's Tale" fanfiction? One that is *not* slash, mind you?

How sad is it that the only A Knight's Tale fiction archive I could find on the net is slash? I don't mind slash - hell, I read slash, I enjoy slash, good slash in both cases of course, I spent a great part of the day today hesitating between trying myself at some Sparrington or doing that Kate/Wat I finalled settled on doing - I just find it sad that there seems to be nowhere where I can archive this fic of mine when I'm finished, let alone *read* other fics of the same kind. I will however sort through those slash fics, and hopefully find something that is worth reading.

Hell, if one of the cut scenes had not shown Chaucer to be 1) married, and 2) very happily so, I would have slashed him myself, though in an "unrequited love" way, and thus a "not getting any" way, or at least not with the one he so dearly wished to get it on with. Might still do it one of these days, I'd need to give it more thought. I just love the character so, hard to write though he might turn out to be. (And I apologise in advance to fans of the *actual* Chaucer out there. I don't know anything about the real man (does *any*one?), apart from having read the Wife of Bath's Tale, and I'm all with the character here. Just blame it on Paul Bettany. Guy's too good not to make me obsessed.)

Anyway, to come back to my point: again, I don't suppose there's anyone out there that could beta-read an "A Knight's Tale" fanfiction? I'm beginning to fear I'm the only one fascinated with those characters in a non "let's slash them" way. Wat and Kate were just begging to be written about! I'm only sad I could not write Edward in - Chaucer and Germaine each had their cameo, but writing him in would have been pointless and simply for the sake of it, so I refrained (note to self: one more reason to write that Chaucer fic).

If anyone is, I'd be quite grateful. This fic might all turn out to be one huge piece of shite, and I'd rather I was told that much than I went ahead and published it without having a clue.

Anyway, I'm off to write the third and last part.
fan_elune: (haldir)
The unexpected happened today. Or, really, it started last night. I lay awake for at least two hours, absolutely unable to go to sleep (but exhausted, which I really hate - body tired but mind going hyper, very frustrating). Consequently, I spent some of that time thinking on some fic projects of mine, and it served me right because today I wrote the first chapter of "Collion" - temporary title for the third part of the Crossed Destinies series.

Yes, I finally went for Collion/Colin as names for the kid. It suddenly felt right.

But besides that, I am so thankful things finally clicked in place. I adore writing Haldir, and I find that Colin himself is quite interesting. A half-Elf raised in our world, a bit of a challenge to write. Just as Haldir is. Everywhere, you see fic where characters from this plane are sent into Middle Earth and have to adapt to the life there. Doing it the other way around is quite interesting, I find. And the transplanted character being Haldir does not hurt, I'll admit.

By the way, Cinnie, would you be interested in beta'ing it? I'm intent on doing justice to our favourite Marchwarden and I don't see who better to ask. ;)

Now if I just manage to hold the Cowboy Bebop muses at bay long enough, I hope I'll write a few more chapters in the next couple of weeks - am going back to Reims without [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh on Thursday, which shall despite the heartache enable me to get a few things done both regarding next year, and a few writing projects of mine.
fan_elune: (vicious angel demon)
This is positively unhealthy. I'm growing obsessed with Vicious. *points at the new icon* Loving characters like Edward (from AB) or Lucius (from HP) is all good and well, but Vicious? This is me reaching another level of insanity.

It's all the more frustrating that this incredibly good fic is being written about his origins, as well as Spike's... and I want more. Desperately so. The psychology of it is simply amazing, the style flows very well, the usual clichés are avoided... I'm impressed. Here's for any and all Cowboy Bebop fan out there: Prelude. If you browse through that site, I also recommend After the Nova, though also a WIP, which is a take on what happens after the finale. But really, my love goes to Prelude, which is as good a piece of work as you can find. While the author's take on Spike is probably not the most original ever, it is still endearing and subtle, and their work on Vicious reels you in and does not let you go.

That being said, it leaves me very little room to vent my Vicious obsession, aka write more fiction about him. The tear of a warrior was hardly about him, since the Vicious we saw in that was through the eyes of a besotted Gren. I need to write him out of my system. Hopefully, I'll have an epiphany, but right now my muses are made shy when faced with the genius behind Prelude. I should let it all cool down and see what comes to me in a few days' time.
fan_elune: (gren)
Am on a Cowboy Bebop roll thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pee_wai! This show is so very good. The characters, their past and depth, and their interaction are excellent. Those who know me, and the show, won't be surprised to learn that I got obsessed with Vicious and Gren (from Jupiter Jazz, the sax player - check out the icon). I'm actually working on a little something involving those oh so fascinating characters. Hopefully it will be worth something. However, I don't quite know who will read it apart from Peewai... oh well.

Anyway, it'll be called The Tear of a Warrior, and it will be quite short. It'll take up the events of Jupiter Jazz and fill in the blanks, basically.

Yesterday night we watched The Incredible True Adventures of Two Girls in Love, with the lovely Laurel Holloman. It was... okay, I suppose. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't so very good either. It was Laurel's first part though, and she was cute as a button. It's the kind of film that should not have been a film but, say, a story arc on My So-Called Life. Damn, I wanna see that TV show again.
fan_elune: (angel of light)
Well, [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh is gone back home. I'll be joining her there on Tuesday, and I have approximately a ton of things to do in the meanwhile. Watch some DVDs, for starters, including O Brother (still haven't seen it!) and Jurassic Park (am finally going to see it in English! Hopefully Ian Malcolm will be just as enjoyable.). I have some Farscape to watch in English too, while I'm at it, among which the cartoon episode. I'm in for a laugh.

And if I find myself a couple free hours, there'll be a second viewing of Mononoke Hime. Bought myself the soundtrack yesterday, been listening to it non stop. It's sparking muses, too.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] houses7177 really liked Harshness, cold and deceit, the birthday fic I wrote for her. That made my day yesterday, though I haven't had time to respond to her reply. I was just ecstatic. I'd been so anxious about it, since what she writes is so very good... Not to mention that my AB books are very much not at home and that I was quite worried that I might be twisting Edward to my wishes/needs. Apparently not. Yay! I'm actually really grateful for this whole birthday fic [livejournal.com profile] cgwriting started, because I don't think I would have ever written this particular fic if it hadn't been for it. houses had a list of characters she liked, and Narcissa and Edward basically jumped out at me while I was looking it over. Or, more characteristically, Narcissa raised an eyebrow at me and Edward made a very discreet hand motion, face betraying nothing. I think they work wonderfully together.

Besides, it got me to write about all the Malfoys, and that's always something I love. (The only actor who has signed up for OotP, according to imdb, is Jason. There'll be at least that reason to go see the movie. His Lucius is absolutely magnificent, and rather scary too, in a sends-shivers-down-your-spine way. In a very human way, really. All hail to Jason.) I even threw some Zabini in there - couldn't help myself, and it did work with the story, it wasn't just a pointless cameo. Those Slytherins are so very fascinating to write.

Anyway. I've also been thinking about the way I write, which I think has really evolved these past few months. In a very good way. I've completely gone past the stage of "let's get so and so together" - not that I don't write those fics anymore, just that when I do, which is no longer a requisite, it's not just about that. I feel quite good about some of my recent productions, and those I feel most good about, surprisingly, don't really pair up anybody: A Flight of Fancy, Thou Liv'st forever, and now Harshness, cold and deceit.

I'll need to use those few days on my own to really plan what I'm going to write next. I do need to go over and rewrite most of Out of Memory and Time, which I will post on the [livejournal.com profile] wadingpool to make it as good as possible as I go. I also have to work on the next episode of Gaia (http://cometogaia.free.fr/), focusing on Steve - title unknown as of now, probably something music-related. There's another original project of mine that needs working on, untitled as well for the moment, about yet again homosexuality and the way to fit in the world. For those of you who know of my obsession for the then unknown hotness that belonged to one of Buffy's former boyfriends, the kid's name is Fab. *wicked smirk*

Those are the most "urgent," I suppose. I have been attacked by several plot bunnies lately, but I'm doing a good job filing them away for later use, so far. Let's just hope they'll keep being that easy to deflect for a while.

Anyway, here's Harshness, cold and deceit. For you BR-people who haven't read AB, just in case you wanna give it a try, let me just explain very quickly what you need to know: the Anitaverse happens nowadays, only the supernatural is part of everyday life. The US is the first country to grant vampires civil rights, and weres of all sorts (there aren't just wolves, but also leopards, lions, swans, etc - and one of my favourites, rats) are being discriminated against. Edward is a bounty hunter, he likes to take out the "monsters" (weres and vamps, really). He's a cold-blooded killer with quite a personality disorder. He can slip as effortlessly into his Death persona (total absence of emotion) as into his Ted persona (Ted Forrester, one of his identities, lives in New Mexico, has a very Southern accent, wears a cowboy hat, can be quite charming and is actually engaged to a New Age woman called Donna, who has two kids - it even seems as if Ted loves her and her kids). Edward's a bit of an enigma, since very little is known about his past, and he's very hard to figure out. There, I think you're good now.

(Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] twixou, to shamelessly pique your interest: personally, I have this fantasy of mine where Edward is just Sark in a few years' time. I'm sure an older David would be perfect for the role, but even as far as characterisation is concerned, Sark could have become Edward in the right circumstances.)

Ha, I finally managed to play a bit more with this lj - behold!
For those of you who are wondering who said or said person is: first is David Anders as Sark on Alias, then Craig Parker as Haldir in the Two Towers, Liv Tyler as Arwen in the Two Towers (I think), Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Robinson Stevenin whom I like to think of as Damien these days, Orlando Bloom in his straight-hair-and-suit goodness, Jack Davenport as Commodore Norrington in Pirates, Summer Glau as River Tam in Firefly, Peter Wingfield as Methos in Highlander, Greg Ellis as Lieutenant Groves in Pirates, Johnny Depp, and Eliza Dushku as Faith in either Buffy or Angel.

A feast for the eyes, methinks. And for the muses, too, as far as I'm concerned.

Got the first of the two birthday fics I'm working on beta'ed! Yay! It's called Granted, by the way. Am temporarily stuck on the second one, I'm afraid of taking it in the wrong direction, and fear paralyses creation. Blah. If anybody could point me to any good Narcissa Malfoy or Edward (from AB) fics, I'd be much grateful.

ETA: have now added quite a few faces to the graphics, I suppose I should introduce them too. So, column 3: Christian Kane as Lindsey McDonald (back when he was still himself, aka not in S5 of Angel), then Aidan Gillen as Stuart Alan Jones from Queer as Folk UK, Amber Benson as Tara in BtVS, Brad Pitt as Mickey in Snatch, Elizabeth Rohm as Kate Lockley in Angel, and Fab Fillipo as Ethan Gold in Queer as Folk US. Column 4: Miranda Otto as Eowyn in The Two Towers, David Wenham (the cuddle-worthy Faramir in The Two Towers and The Return of the King), Charlie Hunnam (first discovered as Nathan Malone in Queer as Folk UK), Val Pelka as Kronos in Highlander, Nathan Fillion as Mal in Firefly and Gigi Edgley as Chiana in Farscape. Column 5: Adam Baldwin as Marcus Hamilton in Angel, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swan in PotC, Alan Tudyk as Wash in Firefly, Claudia Black as Aeryn Sun in Farscape, Billy Boyd as Pippin in the Fellowship of the Ring and Vincent Kartheiser (among other things, Connor Angel in Angel - but check him out in Another Day in Paradise or The Unsaid - the kid is gifted).

Ha! I finished one of the two birthday fics I'm working on. Only have to get it beta'ed, now. Hopefully it doesn't suck too much! I really hope I'll be able to finish the second one in time, too. Otherwise I'll just post the beginning on time - though I really don't like doing that. Posting any part of a fic before it's finished. You never know when you'll want to go back on it to have it better suit what happens later. Besides, it saved me from posting some quite, quite bad fiction. Tapping, for one thing, and OMT. I haven't given up on either of them, I simply need to go through them all over again.

To go back to that second birthday fic, I know exactly where I want to go. It's just not something I've ever written before and I'm doubtful I can pull it off easily, and in such a short amount of time. I'll see.

Anyway. Here's chapter five of FoF.
