Narcissus Unbound
It's a look they exchange. Appraisal, acknowledgement, and it turns into instant dislike. They were both aiming for the same target, after all, a man who is all hips and broad shoulders, clear blue eyes and a peach of an arse. Most shaggable man on the dance floor (apart from the two of them), of course they would both spot him.
The next step is to issue a challenge. No need to speak a single word to each other, it's still all in a look. The third man, their target, is dancing on, eyes twinkling, clearly amused by the situation. Probably wondering who's going to bow out. Probably hoping that no one is.
Then at last, a direct attack. "Tell me you're not going to resort to 'I saw him first'," the other man says, looking down at Stuart with a scornful twist to his lips.
Stuart smiles (it's something he would've said, with the same distaste dripping from his voice), and changes his body language. From defensive, it becomes inviting, and he glances at their target with a daring smile. "Actually." His hips have shifted forward, the way they do naturally, and he raises his eyebrows at the other man. "How 'bout we decide we saw him together?"
At best, the other man will decide to fuck off. At worst, Stuart will have to overlook his dislike of the man to enjoy a tumble in the sheets with a pair of extremely attractive lads. It's not that bad of a worst, and he thinks it's a highly likely one. His adversary doesn't seem like the type to back down.
He must be right, because the other man only smiles. His eyes glint harshly, but his smirk speaks of sex.
They go back to his place, the three of them. It's a flat Stuart could see himself owning if he ever stayed put anywhere long enough these days: wide, big, clean and smooth, open. He even likes the art on the walls. They spend the night focused on the target, who collapses in an exhausted heap after three hours, a disappointment. Stuart had a lot more to give, and so did the other man - Brian - by the look in his canny brown eyes.
Stuart slides into his clothes and leaves.

The next night they find each other again, and this time they skip the middle man. They make it to the backroom before their mouths crash together, and they kiss with the fierceness of hate.
Brian likes the blow job so much he invites Stuart back to his place. There's a second's hesitation (I made him lose control/what if he returns the favour) but the caress of Brian's fingertips over his hip, right before they grip it hard enough to bruise, decide Stuart even before Brian leans in to whisper in his ear, "I'll make you scream tonight," in a low, sultry voice that makes it sound like a threat.
Stuart goes.
"I hated you - the moment - I saw you," Stuart gasps, a hand twisting Brian's hair to bring their mouths together again, a desperate kiss.
"Right - backatcha," Brian retorts after tearing his mouth away, voice strained, as he slams back into Stuart.
He makes Stuart scream.
An hour later, Stuart returns the favour.
It's the most hateful sex they've ever had. It's the most selfish sex they've ever had. It's also the best sex they've ever had.
