In a less squeeful post, we went and saw HP again last night. I have still not recovered from the Snape love, and the cuffs love (will icon very soon). Possibly it's actually gone worse. But while on a first screening I managed to cling to the liking I have of Hermione, on the second viewing it is absolutely impossible. In this movie, she is unbearable. Absolutely unbearable.

Have watched Blood - the Last Vampire, a fairly good anime that I bought due to its cheapness on CDiscount. Is it the pilot for a series? Because it ought to be. Am very intrigued by the interaction between David and Saya - the bonds that are born out of forced cooperation, I suppose.

Am also going through Profit again and loving it. Oh how I'm loving it. The ninetiesness is rather amusing, now, but it does not detract from the script. Such good scripts. I can only deplore the lack of audio commentaries.

We went to an American grocery store yesterday (thanks for the address [livejournal.com profile] heikki_cheren!) and bought Dr. Pepper (hurray!), cream cheese, crackers, mango chutney and bagels. Hmmmcreamcheese. Can't wait to taste mango chutney, too, which I don't think I have before. I'll trust Joey, and the "mango" bit, that it's something to look forward too. And then we stopped by this English library and I kinda couldn't help myself and bought the Chronicles of Narnia and the Saga of the Icelanders. Two huge books. Very pricy. But I truly couldn't help myself.

Which incidentally means that my Icelandic story is officially on hiatus until I'm done reading the Icelandic saga and I can rework it all accordingly. Since I've just started on the Saga of the Grail (well, I'm a good 100 pages into it and Merlin has just been born... worst is? I'm really enjoying it), I think the hiatus isn't about to end. I'm such a sucker for myths.

Actually it's about the Alias post but I didn't want to read the spoilers. :p Do you think I can skip 5x02 and 5x03? Because my parents' computer still has this huge virus, and I can't download these episodes anyway (problem with the tracker or something), but I have all the other episodes, so do you think I can watch ep 4 and so on? I figured I could, since S5 doesn't seem that good, but I wanted to ask you. :p
And I want to see Saaaaaark! :)

Go on. I can't remember what happens in them specifically... okay just checked my ramblings (gotta love LJ tags) and go on, skip them. They're both veeeery boring. Though you're missing some Weiss in 5x02... but that's all really. 5x04 is incredibly boring, too. There's a reeeeaaally boooooring series of eps, but then it gets better. Hang in there. Bon courage. ;)

Hmpf, don't wanna miss some good Weiss moments. :p Wait, I thought he wasn't supposed to come back??
Anyway, I'll find a summary of these 2 eps somewhere. And then I'll watch Sark. :)

Oh, is he gone already at the end of ep 1? From having a quick look at my ramblings I thought it was ep 2. Then no, no Weiss moments. I guess I just missed him so much I kept mentioning him, then...

Summaries are the way to go. And Sark is very enjoyable. Despite too short hair. You can't take fistfuls of it. ;)

Have read the summary, and yes he is in ep 2. It's just that Amanda (Marshall's wife) told us during the Q&A at the convention that Weiss wasn't supposed to be there in S5. Was he in ep 1? I can't remember. Alias without Weiss=bad Alias!!!

Indeed, no fistfuls. Pity... *eg*

You know, I just got turned into a Weiss/Sark 'shipper. I swear. Sadly, the fic that did it is friends-locked, so I can't even point you to it. But I didn't see that coming, and then... the fic is excellent. Anyway.

Alias without Weiss = bad Alias for a good few episodes, before it starts picking up again. But I still miss you Eric!!!!

I know! *pouts* Fistfuls of Sark's hair are a very good thing.

As much as I know, it's not the pilot of a serie (and hadn't mentionned it to you years ago when I watched it? I know I tried to get people to see it then). There is a manga, though, and it's not the same story, it's set at a different time period (and weirdly enough, I saw it again two days ago at someone's). I can't remember which one I liked best.

Edit: Oh... I made a quick search... It took them a bunch of years, but they are now producing a serie, it started airing on October 8, according from Wikipedia. It's called Blood+.
For the moment, the translated manga might be a bit easier to find, though.

Oh, nice. Know any sites where I can get the translated manga? I'll try to google for it later on. You might've mentioned it years ago, but... if so, I predictably completely forgot.

You mean, to download it? Nope.
But it can be bought. I know it's liste on the FNAC's site. I dunno if they also have it in store. If they do, that means you can read it for free there, might be worth having a look next time a FNAC lay near your path.

(It seems the US edition is rather called "Blood The Last Vampire 2002", because it was written in 2002)
The author is Benkyo Tamaoki. Good luck! ;-)

And now I remember I must have the DVD somewhere...

Emma!Hermione "unbearable"? Why?

From: [identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com
Well, her lines are horrible for one thing, imho. And she's just... I think her acting's really gone down, especially since she used to be the only one of the golden trio who could remotely act. But now the two boys have got better, and she just... hasn't. I don't know. Her acting felt off, and the lines were everything but a help, and... *shrugs* Which is a damn shame, because Emma is such a pretty young thing. I really wish I could've enjoyed her.

Yeah, pretty indeed. I had to second Harry's date (I can't remember which one it was) on that one.

Don't ask me. I can tell the Weasley twins apart better.

...okay, that's not true. But still.

Oh, they can totally be tell apart (Well, *I* can. Actually the actresses aren't even sisters), it's just that I 1)have troubles remembering their names 2)am SO interested in them that I never bothered remembering which one is doing what.
Ok, actually I would bet for Lavender for HP6 because I think the other one's name is shorter and this one seem to be the right length, but... (and then I don't know why they picked the cutest one to play the other sister, considering we'll have to see her that much in two films. Hopefully it's because the less cute one can act better? Hopefully?
EDIT: Nah, I thought about it before hitting "Post Comment". THey started shooting before the release of HP6. That explains it. She probably doesn't play any better. Oh gosh, oh gosh.... *eg*

Oh yeah, exactly. I can tell them apart, really, I just can't be bothered with their names. I know the last name's Patil. The Patil twins. And one's Parvardi, I think, or something like that.

Any idea if they are identical twins in the books? It's too bad they didn't even picked real sisters.
I remembered "Padma". So it's Padma and Parvati.
And now I'm pretty sure the whole Ron dating XX bored me so much that I blocked from my memory who he was dating. Now I know it wasn't a Patil at all (just their best friend). Weird how I remember Snape's scenes way better.

No clue, no.
Yes! That's it.
Well, you know, when you mentioned Lavender it took me a good long while to remember while she'd be in HP6. I may have cared so much that I forgot. Snape... and his Cuffs of Doom. Whoever did wardrobe for GoF? I love them. And he isn't evil, dammit! Surely you must agree?

Oh, my bad, I thought you meant available to DL, yes. I might go and have a look one of these days then, yes. Thanks for the tips! :)

You gotta know something... When I say that something is available, I never mean it in a downloadable way. ;-)
I never download anything, so I wouldn't know about such things...

(But now that you have the US title and the author's name, I guess you can find something... O;-) )

Very good point!

I'll see, if it's actually been translated officially there are fewer chances of finding anything...

Depends on how long they took to translate it. There might still be some scanlations available... Good luck. ;-)

Oh, Emma!Hermione is completely unbearable in that movie. The only scene I can stand her in is during the Yule Brawl... during every other part, I kind of just wanted to punch her in the face. Though I guess she wasn't as bad as she was in PoA, when she had the main plot device hanging around her neck!

I saw Narnia last night... it was fantastic!! :D

Date: 2005-12-09 03:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fan-elune.livejournal.com
I don't know, despite her utter incapability at making a punch look any sort of believable, I really didn't mind her that much in PoA. Here? Gah.

Was it? Good. Because with a trailer like that? They'd better not let me down. Ha! Lucky you. I can't wait to see it too!
